Manzoni usa il romanzo come denuncia sociale riguardo la dominazione austriaca, Verdi fa la stessa cosa con le sue opere, entrambi mostrano le vicende di gente semplice, Verdi era un grandissimo ammiratore, forse non voleva rovinare il romanzo?
