What is up with obesity?

They claim that the vast majority of Americans today are obease. This word gets thrown arond more than the word " and "  .

Growing up in the 70' and 80's when a person was referred to as obease this meant that their weight posed a serious risk to his or her health and physical well being .

These days if your 10 pounds iver your ideal weight your obease.

Kind of  makes me wonder how nany of these illeged (< spelling ) obease people are not even visibly over weight.

Update:

Ok David .Then explain why i'm 5'9" weigh 172 pounds and my doctor says i'm obease.  A person of my hight and build should weigh between 140 and 160 pound . In my mind an extra 12 pounds is not significant in fact most don't even notice it.

No, these days you are NOT considered obese if you are 10 lbs over your ideal weight (although SOME misinformed people use the word inappropriately). Obese = 50 or more lbs over your recommended. Morbidly obese = 100 or more lbs over your recommended. (not the spelling is "obese" not "obease")

If your doctor told you that you're obese at 5'9" and 172, then find a new doctor because that one is misusing the word, dramatically.

If a person does have obesity and excess weight, this can increase their risk of developing a number of health conditions, including metabolic syndrome, arthritis, and some types of cancer. Metabolic syndrome involves a collection of issues, such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.

Regardless of the fat amount,  the risk of our health is DIRE.

Metabolic syndrome causes 85% of obesity and IT kills, manifesting as diabetes II,  most heart disease and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

    It's real.

It's also easily reversed by eating whole foods, water, unsweetened teas and unflavored milk, ONLY.

    AKA the human diet.

"Obesity" is an actual medical diagnosis. The clinical definition is when someone's weight exceeds 20% of what their ideal is. So if you should weigh 140, then 20% is 28 lbs, meaning anything over 168 makes you obese.

You are wrong. The statements about obese people are true. They are significantly overweight, not just a few pounds.
