Why don't you see certain exercise machines in gyms?
Like the bowflex, the treadclimber, the total gym, etc The bowflex offered a guarantee at one point if you used it for six weeks or something you were guaranteed to get some muscle. Guessing either because they are NO good, or TOO good.

Gyms use equipment that's designed for gym usage - lots of continuous usage by multiple people. Bowflex etc aren't designed for this kind of use and wouldn't last long. They're designed to be used in a home for a few hours per day by a small number of people.

They're intended for individual use. They can last quite a while, but putting one into a gym would up the usage past its limits.
