Why can't Republican voters answer the question 'Where are these open borders'?

Well, I am a Democrat. But, I am a good source. I grew up in Bisbee, AZ, about 5 miles from the Mexican border. As a child and teen, everything was open, except at the point of entry. As an adult the fence/wall started going up (Before Trump). I've been in the Phoenix area now for 8 years, so I can't attest to what the situation is. But, my parents and sister are still there. No complaints from them.

Its open based on the fact they are not turning anyone away.  They are not being admitted legally.   The president actually has no right to just willy nilly change immigration law.  Look at the catastrophe he has created and during a pandemic yet.  Completely irresponsible.

If you go to Yuma, AZ the wall stops in the middle of no where. You can just walk around it.

Ranchers and people living on the border report daily about migrants drug mules passing through their land.

Fake news. I guess saying fake news stud means nothing anymore. I live at the board and watch reality. I live one mile north of the Tijuana sloughs where the Tijuana border and the Tijuana Mexico River are the Border. Low tide  is 18 inches in the river  . They know when the tide is low cuz they die if the tides is High. They get swept out to sea because the water can be 11 ft deep and it's a river running at the entrance to the ocean and sweeps them out. Then they will come popping up in the surf bloated and get a ride to the beach where they get picked up and carried away. That's the real border. Admitting millions of illegals legally is still open borders. You support illegal immigration. Even the liberal sites like NYT, WaPo are talking about it. Southern border illegal entries  are getting out of control after democrats incentivized them to come during election campaign and Biden reversing all Trump administration’s illegal immigration policies. 

It is a meaningless phrase they latch onto and repeat ad nauseum because it is a hook with their base.  Kind of like "family values" in the late 80s and 90s.  Now look who is leading the party of "family values!"

Everyone I know (including the dems) understands there will always be need for security at the border for reasons like preventing uninhibited logistics for terrorists. It's another example of how righties embellish/misrepresent reality to suit their agenda.
