should we have been let off of detention because of the easter holidays ?

i have just got home from serving a 1 and a half hour after school detention, this was my punishment for messing around in class, our detentions are on tuesdays and fridays, but because its easter we broke up today, thursday, because of this i thought my detention punishment would carry over until the next term, because its easter we had an end of term assembly, then we were free to go, to my horror those in detention were escorted to the detention room, room 3 in total there were 21 one of us all being punished for one reason or another, we had to sit at our desks in TOTAL silence and do work set by the teacher that had put us in detention, i had to write a 4 page essay on why its important to behave in class, it was HORRIBLE , what i am saying is i think we should have been let off because of the easter holiday WHAT DO YOU THINK ?

After school detention?  Are you kidding me?

After school is my time.  Not theirs.

    I would not participate.

No, the idea is to teach you a lesson. Did you learn from it?

thats the whole point of a punishment - you are not supposed to enjoy it, think of the poor teacher who was also stuck their supervising you instead of going home himself, I had to go to detention once in my school and we had to copy out work from a textbook in silence, if we hadn't done both sides of 2 sheets of A4 paper then we were told to come back for more detention the next day, if we had done enough the teacher just tore the sheets up and threw them in a bin without reading them right in front of you

Do kids actually show up to detention? When I was in high school I certainly never did. What are they gonna do? Give you more detention?

No, you misbehaved in class and as such, you got to miss out on something that was important to you.  That was the WHOLE point.  Maybe next time you will behave and not cut up and can go the the next assembly
