Guidelines nonsense?
Are the UK guidelines of drinking no more than 14 units of alcohol a week a load of nonsense or does it hold some credibility?

Alcohol is a potentially dangerous and addictive substance, which would be banned if it were new [as another correspondent has already pointed out, same goes for cigarettes]. If you must drink alcohol, keep it moderate and spread your units over 4-5 days, with at least two alcohol-free days a week. Then you may, with luck avoid health problems such as addiction and liver damage. NEVER drink alcohol if you are going to drive or operate machinery.

If I want 15 units, who is going to stop me? Guidelines by governments are rarely accurate to real life.

You quote only part of the guidelines - they also state that there is no “safe level” of alcohol consumption but to try to avoid the worst of its effects a person should consume no more that 14 units per week AND have at least one (it might even say two) alcohol-free days per week.
What exactly are you questioning?

You have already posted about your "slight autism." That answers your question. Ys, they are credible.

There is no 'safe' level of alcohol consumption. If alcohol was invented today, it would be illegal because it would fail all the food safety tests. The damage caused by the suggested limit of units of alcohol per week is survivable for most people as their bodies are fit and healthy enough to repair the minor damage caused.
