Capernaum was a town in Galilee. It was on the north bank of the Sea of Galilee and its ruins lie within the modern state of Israel.

I don't know if the name means anything in particular, if that's what you're asking.  Capernaum was only a city.  It rejected Jesus Christ in spite of the miracles that he did there.  It has become a proverb because Jesus said if he had done in Sodom the miracles that he had done in Capernaum, they would have repented and remained to his day.

It means "Nahum's village".  "Kaphar" means "village" in Hebrew.
