    Same reason the Nazi's called their party socialist. Political expediency.

    It started out as communist but then they figured out that they could make more money if they abandoned the nicer parts of communism and just went full totalitarianism.  And when you get to full totalitarianism it doesn't really matter if you got there from the right or the left, it's pretty much the same thing.
