I understand you have the right to be an atheist, but why be so nasty and act like you own the truth when you don’t?

I know many atheists are not like that, but the ones we have here often are.

When asked serious questions I will attempt to answer them.  However, I usually gravitate towards the "Hey atheists" style of question.  Unfortunately the sort of person who asks these sorts of questions tend to have some right wing agenda, or will try to be insulting in some way.  I tend to savage those. But if you have a genuine question I try to give a genuine answer.

In other words, you want atheists to stop acting like theists.

Oh.  Well, maybe you want to note that much of  that vitriol comes in response to religious jerks pretending they own the truth and then using it to judge others.  I don't notice much nastiness from the atheist bunch here, but you sure see viscous, nasty and hateful comments coming from the religious folks on a regular basis.  Not all, of course, but a substantial minority, or perhaps even a majority.

Just wanted to say that's a damn good question.  And it explains why pride is one of the 7 deadly sins.

It's not atheists trying to cancel transgender people in the US right now. It's not atheists trying to strip away a woman's right to choose and control over her own body, life, and future. It's not atheists who are trying to shove outdated beliefs and superstitions into every school in the land. It's not atheists who have lost their damn minds lately. That would Christians.

Tennessee Republicans are trying to pass laws even in cases of rape and incest that the man who impregnates the woman will be able to deny the victim the right to have an abortion.

NC bill orders any school employee to 'immediately' notify parents if a child 'exhibits gender nonconformity'

Tennessee trying to make Bible state book.

Idaho just passed a fetal heartbeat bill, which will go into effect the second Roe V. Wade gets overturned.

Arkansas will prohibit doctors from providing gender-affirming treatment for transgender teens.

    Etc, etc.

An atheist might tell you off, dear, but I doubt they are actively working to strip you of basic rights or denying that you're a human being. We good here? You gonna be okay? Need a tissue for all those crocodile tears?

Source(s): The whole anti-trans movement harms anyone who doesn't fit neatly into boxes about what men or women are "supposed" to look like. For instance, it's turned random people into bathroom vigilantes

“Theists, especially Christians, try to control and restrict us based on their views.

If all Christians stop crusading against science, education, culture, art, sex and sexuality, religious freedom and such, stop dishonestly misrepresenting your beliefs as facts, and stop telling everybody else they're going to be tortured throughout eternity unless they join you, I assure you that you won't encounter nearly as much hostility.”

‘Religious apologists complain bitterly that atheists and secularists are aggressive and hostile in their criticism of them. I always say: look, when you guys were in charge, you didn’t argue with us, you just burnt us at the stake. Now what we’re doing is, we’re presenting you with some arguments and some challenging questions, and you complain.’ A.C. Grayling

No one owns the truth. You dont like atheists pointing out the truth because it disagrees with all your religious dogma and tenets. Im sorry that your feelings get hurt when people say things that are true that you disagree with. You dont have your own truths and atheists dont their own truths. There is just the truth.

Oh, I know, only Christians are allowed to be nasty and act like they own truth.
