  • My internet keeps cutting off?

I have WLAN at home. At times it's fine, but as soon as I try to load a 'heavier' website like Tumblr or a YouTube video (or even Y!Answers), it crashes and reconnects (which takes around 20 seconds on average), sometimes a couple of times in a row. I can see the router turning off and then on again. There's no problem with electricity. It's happening with all the computers in my house and has been for about a month now. It was fine before. All my computers are running Windows 10.

Why is this happening and what can I do to fix it? Any help would be appreciated.

  • (Korean grammar) How to use -거니 and -려니?

I was going through some TOPIK stuff, and I ran into these two grammar patterns, -거니 and -려니. I've seen them before, particularly the first one, but I don't understand how they are used and what they mean. All I know is that they attach to verbs and apparently have something to do with quoting speech?

Google isn't of much help, so I'd like a native/fluent speaker to explain this to me. Please write out some example sentences as well.

    Thank you!

  • In your opinion, what is the most beautiful Chinese(/Japanese) character?

I think there are many pretty ones out there, but which one do you find to be the most beautiful - and why? I'm talking about the look of the character, not necessarily the meaning or pronunciation, although I do see how they could affect the overall look.

Please write the character, its meaning and briefly explain why you think it's the most beautiful one. You can list a few if you can't decide. Thank you!

  • How do Japanese parents choose a name for their child?

I watched a documentary on geishas recently where a young girl wanted to become a geisha. In it, when they were choosing a geisha-name for the maiko, the maiko was taken to a man who then advised what kind of name would be good for her (taking into account the amount of strokes in the kanji characters etc).

It got me thinking, how do Japanese parents name their child? What kind of things do they take into consideration? What does it mean if the parents want the first name to be spelled fully in hiragana/katakana, even if it could be written with kanji?

Please be as detailed as possible.

  • Who are your favourite Mandarin singers/groups?

I'm getting back into studying standard Chinese and I'd like to know some good singers or groups that sing in standard Chinese.

I like pop, ballad and RnB songs the most.

    Thanks in advance!

How does this quote go in your language? It's from the Disney movie Snow White.

  • How to take a screen capture bigger than my screen?

Sometimes I see long images that I'd like to have for personal use on sites that don't allow right-click or drag-and-drop functions, so I want to take a screenshot. Problem is, the image is a lot longer than my computer screen is, and it's very tedious to try to take it part by part and them paste together. I also don't want to zoom out with the ctrl + - combination, because I'd like the image to remain its original size.

Are there any programs that I can use with Chrome that allow me to make screen caps longer than the screen's viewable area?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Does anyone know a good horror anime, preferably made in 2011+?

I just finished watching Another, and I need a new anime to fill that void. Horror is my favourite genre.

I'd like a more recent production, so ideally it would be made in 2011 or later.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Could you translate this sentence into Japanese?

I would like to know how the famous saying, "The only thing we are afraid of is fear itself" would translate into Japanese. It would be great if the translator was Japanese or at least speaks/writes fluently.

Please use hiragana and kanji (and katakana, if needed) accordingly!

    Thank you!

  • Are "demon" and "devil" religious words? What's the difference?

Were these two words originally used in religious context (i.e. as a reference to Satan)? Or were they used to describe all kinds of evil spirits? What's the difference between "demon" and "devil"?

    Any help is appreciated!
