1 AnswerChemistry7 years agoAlgebra 2: 4 Rational expressions problems - help/check my work?
Hi, I'm really struggling with a worksheet, I was wondering if someone could check my work and explain where i went wrong so i understand how to do it in the future- Thanks
Simplify:
Problem #1:
3a^2 - 24a
---------------
3a^2 + 12a
I got:
a-8
-----
a+4
by canceling 3a out of 3a^2 and 12a and also by canceling 3a out of -24a and 3a^2
Problem #2:
(5s^2 / s^2 - 4) * (s + 2/10s^2)
for this i got: 1/(s-2)(2s^3) by canceling 5s^2 from 5s^2 and 10s^5 and by canceling s+2 from s+2 and s^2 - 4
Problem #3:
(q^2 + 2q / 6q ) * (q^2 - 4 / 3q^2)
For this.. i made it (q^2 + 2a)/6q * (3q^2)/(q^2 - 4) by multiplying by the reciprocal
I canceled out q^2 from q^2 + 2a and from q^2 - 4
I also canceled out 3q from 6q and 3q^2
which gave me 6a/-2 or -3a
Lastly, Problem #4:
(t^2 + 19t + 84 / 4t-4) * (2t - 2 / t2 + 9t + 14)
I factored out: t^2 + 19t + 84 and got (t + 7)(t+ 12)
and i also factored out t^2 + 9t + 14 and got (t + 2)(t+7)
both factored by MARFing
This made the problem:
(t+7)(t + 12) / 4t - 4 * (2t - 2)/ (t+2)(t+7)
I canceled out the t+7 and this left me with...
(2t - 2)(t + 12) / (4t - 4)(t+2)
I wasnt sure if i could reduce/cancel out further....
Thanks :P
1 AnswerMathematics9 years agoHelp me with 6 algebra 2 roots and zeros problems?
Hi, i completely do no understand..
you do not have to give me th answer but an explanation how to do these types of problems would be greatly appreciated so i can understand on my own how to do it..
for the first:
x^5 + 4x^3 = 0 solve th equation. state the number and type of roots.
i tried factoring: x^3 (x^2 + 4) = 0
x^3(x+2)(x+2) = 0
Similarly, 4x^2 - 4x - 1 = 0
I wanted to MARF, but it wont work. and you cannot factor using GCF since there are no common factors.
State all the zeros of each function:
h(x) = x^3 - 5x^2 + 5x + 3
h(x) = x^3 + x^2 + x - 6
i knwo you use synthetic but..augh.
Write a polynomial function of least degree w/ integral coefficients that has given zeros:
-3, -5, 1
and -5+i
thank you..
3 AnswersMathematics9 years agoIs there a way to allot memory from an 8g micro SD card in a smasung solstice to mostly messaging (details)?
Hi, I have a samsung solstice phone and just recently purchased an 8G micro SD card hoping that it would allow more space/storage for messaging as im running out of room in my inbox because i save messages. However, none of the memory on the micro sd card was alloted to my messaging/inbox and most of it went elsewhere in which i do not need more memory - as in for pictures, audio, etc...
Is there a way i can format/change it so more/the majority even of the memory of the 8g micro sd card ia lloted towards messaging?
Thanks so much!!

3 AnswersStandards & Testing10 years agoIs there a better way to solve for this problem than how i did?
At a retail store, the price for a med. shirt is 14.99 & the price for a large shirt is 19.99. Sherrie bought 10 shirts at the store and paid a total of 169.90, excluding tax. How many medium shirts did she buy?
A.3
B.4
C.5
D.6
E.7
D is the correct answer.
However, I wasn't sure how to solve for it on the test, therefore did:
for 10 shirts total she could buy..
A: 3 @ 14.99 and 7 @ 19.99 but that = 184
B: 4 @ 14.99 and 6 @ 19.99 but that = 393
etc..
and did C which was 6 @ 14.99 and 4 @ 19.99
(6 x 14.99) + (4 x 19.99) = 169.90 therefore getting the correct answer..
However this process is lengthy/time consuming for a test, and simply plugging in answers..
Could you please explain to me a better and more efficent way to solve for this problem?
Thanks!

OC bisecs angle AOE
angle 1 = AOB
angle 2 = BOC
angle 3 = COD
angle 4 = DOE
measurement of angle 1 = 5a+2;
measurment of angle 2 = 2a-7;
Measurement of angle 3 = 4a;
measurement pf angle 4 = 7
==============================
i worked it as
5a + 2 = 2a-7
added 7 to both sides and got
5a+9 = 2a
subtracted 2a from both sides and got
3a+9= 0
made it 3a+9 = 4a + 7
subtracted 3a from both sides and got
9 = a+7
subtracted 7 from both sides and got
2=a
which meant that
m or measurement of angle 1 = 12
m angle 2 = -3
m angle 3 = 8
m angle 4 = 7
angle 1 +2 should = 3+4 in my mind..but it isnt??

2 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoHelp with geometry [midpoint]?
If this were the line..it'd look like
L-----m-----n-----o-----p
as if the letters were points and the dashed lines were a straight line.
N is the midpoint of line LP.
LN = 30; NO = 3d; OP 6d+12
SO: i worked it as LN = NP
or NO = OP (3d= 6d+12)
LN = 30 so NP should = 30 with NO and OP each equaling 15
i set it up as 3d=6d + 12
subtracted 6d from both sides and got -3d = 12
divided -3 on both sides and got d=-4
Plugged in the variable of d:
NO = 3(-4) = -12
OP= 6(-4)+12 = -12
But if NO = OP = NP which means -12 + -12 = -24
LN is NOT equal to NP..
what did i do wrong?? HELP!
