A few weeks ago I got a speeding ticket from a rude Sheriff's Deputy. He was professional enough but didn't really give me an opportunity to speak about anything. I was clocked doing 70mph in a 55mph zone. He gave me a citation which would add four points to my license and incur a fine of $188.

I mailed a not guilty plea into the court and was assigned a date for a pretrial hearing and a trial. The pretrial hearing is eight days from now. Today, I got a letter from the DA who offered to drop my ticket to three points and take $10 off the fine. I find this offer practically insulting. I have had a clean driving record for over 13 years with only one other moving violation when I was 16 years old (I'm 29 now).

What is the best way to ask him for what I want? Preferably I would get them to drop the ticket in light of my sterling criminal and driving record. Barring that, I'd be ok with paying the fine and incurring no points (therefore no increase in insurance premiums). How should I ask for this? Should I mail in a counter-offer or should I appear in court and plead my case directly? I'd really like to avoid going to court if possible and taking a day off work, but I will if I have to.

I've owned this car for just about a year now and in that time I've gone through six brake light switches. About every six to eight weeks the car will no longer go into reverse because the brake light switch dies and the brake lights don't work. I go to the auto parts store, get a new switch, install it, and then a few weeks later do it all over again. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if there is something wrong with my car. I find it difficult to believe that I've just gotten six bad switches in a row. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for looking!

They have a minivan that I'm interested in buying for my family. The price is great and the car seems great also. I can only find two reviews on Yahoo Local which are both very negative. I'm just trying to figure out if those two are the vocal minority or if this place actually has a problem. I'm interested in any feedback, positive or negative.

My son and I love to play "Lego Star Wars" together on Xbox, but he lives with his mother 90 miles away so we don't always get to play together. I was wondering if any of the PC/Mac versions of Lego Star Wars or Lego Star Wars II support online co-op play. I know Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga for Xbox 360 does, but they don't have an Xbox 360 at his mother's house.

I've seen other answers here from people speculating, but I want to know definitively if this is possible from someone who has tried it.

I have been working as an intern for a very large corporation for two and a half years now. For the first two years it was great, but lately lets just say that I'm happy to be graduating and moving on. In a few weeks it will be time to give a two-week notice, but I don't know if I should give a longer one as an intern. I know that Human Resources will want an exit interview.

Another thing to consider is that at many organizations, it's policy to immediately terminate someone when they give notice of resignation in the IT department. Since the company I work for is a big defense contractor and I work in their server center, this is a very real possibility for me. Should I let this affect the length of my resignation notice as well?

For $39.99 retail I can get the wired USB controller for Xbox 360, which incidentally works on Windows PCs as well. For another $5, I can get the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows. Does anyone know what the difference between the two is? Is it just the software that comes on the CD with the Windows version of the controller (which can be downloaded for free from Microsoft)? Or is there something else I'm missing?

I've started my own web design/programming and consulting company. I need a name bad. I'd prefer something short, that would also make a good domain name. something "... Productions" is what I was thinking but I'm open to all suggestions. I do HTML, JavaScript, CSS, PHP, ASP (classic), network design, and network security consultation.
