Black & white film about a flying saucer orbiting the earth that abducts 7 or 8 people from all over the world (including an American, an English woman, a German Jewish scientist and a Communist China soldier). The alien aboard the saucer gives each person a small palm sized device. When the clam shell like device is opened and given the latitude and longitude of a location, it will eliminate all people in that location. The alien then sends back each person to earth with this device and waits for humans to kill each other off.

Somehow the movie ends with all wicked people of the earth destroyed and a world wide radio announcement from the German Scientist to the aliens inviting them to live on earth with us.

Understand that other than the Nixon pardon, I had no beef with the man. I'M NOT TRYING TO BASH HIM. But.... I never understood why he said what he did in the presidential debate. I was always sure he couldn't have meant it. Did he ever explain later?

Joe Darby, the reluctant Abu Ghraib whistleblower was interviewed on 60 minutes last night. He placed his life in pearl for reporting the Abu Ghraib crimes. His unit hates him, most of the military hates him. Darby was assured that his name would be kept anonymous. Then Rumsfeld at the congressional hearing said "There are many who did their duty professionally and we should mention that as well. First, Specialist Joseph Darby, who alerted appropriate authorities that abuses were occurring". Darby was still serving in Iraq with his unit when Rumsfeld outed him. He was fearful for his life from his fellow G.I.s. Was this just another blunder on Rumsfeld part or was it the Whitehouse's way of payback for whistleblowing?

9 year old Magnavox 27" TV, Never had any problems before this. Then it just "shut itself off" while I was watching tv yesterday morning. and now it won't turn back on.

Is this common? Is it a goner? should I just junk it and buy a new one?

I have an 6 year old imac in my basement and a brand new iMac in my home office. The new imac has a built in Airport card but I want to buy a card for the old iMac. Will I have to buy the $200 AirPort base or will this work with a lower priced third party wireless router?
