Does interrogator school count as training enough to get your foot in the door in a metro police dept or dept of public safety as a detective?

Does anyone have any direct experience with this, or know someone who was in the same situation? (In other words, I'm not looking for uninformed opinions--I already have those.) ;-)

What would help me get hired? The application website had me rank 5 categories in the order I prefer them, including hwy patrol and investigations division (which I ranked #1). Can anyone give me some info based on their experience that would help besides the obvious-- namely criminal justice degree (which I don't have) & military experience (which I do have) ? If it varies by state, I'm talking about Nevada. And I'm talking about 10mph or less over the posted speed limit.

I'm considering a career change. Is the income roughly the same? Would I start out making a reasonable income as an appraiser, or is there some sort of apprenticeship period when not much income is earned? Is it possible to be a real estate agent part time, or would most companies expect full time work when you first start?

My fiancee and I are exploring the idea of starting our own real estate investing company. We are currently working on a business plan to submit for a business loan or grant. Does anyone have any good resources for finding available business grants from the government for starting a small business in real estate?

I know there are plenty of advertisements out there for companies that offer to find applicable grants for a hefty fee. We are not interested in those.

For example, in Korean, "pocket" is pronounced "ho-joo-mo-nee," which sounds a lot like "holds your money" in English, which is what a pocket does. The funniest and/or most interesting example in another language gets best answer.

Apparently it is now illegal to send them in the mail. Apart from trying to catch one myself, does anyone have any suggestions as to how to acquire one?

I am looking for a good private school in the Las Vegas area for my son, who is entering Kindergarten soon. Are there any schools for the gifted, or accelerated learning programs? Any comments about these types of schools in this area, positive or negative, are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
