  • What percentage of spider solitaire games are winnable?

I've been playing spider solitaire (one of the games that comes free with Windows) often and I was wondering if every single hand is winnable. Are there some hands that can't be solved, regardless of how good a person's strategy is?

I know that the one-suit game probably has a very high (if not 100%) winnability rate. However, I've been playing on two suits and have been getting like a 27% success rate. Granted, my strategy is not that great - but I'm curious how much it can be improved. Also, what about four suits?

Probability wise, how many two and four suit spider solitaire games are winnable?

  • toshiba or hewlett packard laptop?

I'm buying a new laptop, and choosing between the HP Pavillion dv4 and the Toshiba Satellite U505

Does anyone out there have one of the computers or a similar one (or one by the same brand)? Could you tell me how well you like it, and if you've had any problems?

    The HP Pavillion is here:

    http://www.amazon.com/Pavilion-DV4-2160US-14-1-Inc...

And the Toshiba Satellite is here:

    http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Satellite-U505-S2005...

They're very similar, and i'm trying to choose between the two. Thanks for your help!

  • Who can recommend a good laptop for a college student?

I'm a college student looking to buy a fast, portable laptop. Here are some of my criteria:

    - I want to buy a PC with Windows 7 (not a mac!)

    - The lighter, the better. I want to be able to carry my laptop to class easily.

    - However, I don't want my PC to be so small that it doesn't have full functionality. (I don't want a netbook, for example). I don't want to totally compromise speed for size.

    - I want my PC to have a built-in CD-rom drive.

    - One problem I have with my current laptop (a Sony Vaio) is that it overheats really easily. I'm looking for a computer without this problem.

    - I'm not a gamer so huge graphics capabilities aren't really important to me. But it should be decent in that area.

    - In general, the faster the better, and long battery life is also a plus.

    Thanks for your help!

  • What is the best handheld VHF marine radio brand?

My rowing team is looking to purchase marine radios for our coaches. Our coaches drive alongside our rowing shells in small rowboats with motors, and want handheld VHF marine radios so that they can communicate with each other and other boats during our practices.

Can you tell me anything about the reliability of the different marine radio brands? I'm currently looking at ICom, Standard Horizon, Cobra, and Uniden. Our price range is $200 or less per radio. Are any of these brands particularly known for quality/durability?

I don't know much about marine radios, so any information you can give me would be great!

  • The Movie "Bee Season"?

I just watched the movie "Bee Season" and I don't quite get it. Why did she intentionally misspell origami at the end?

  • pencil point puncture?

I accidentally stepped on a pencil and the point went into the side of my foot. I was able to remove the point with tweezers and I'm about to wash, disinfect, and bandage the area, but is there anything else I need to do? There's still a lot of pencil in the wound because the cut is black. Do i have to go to the doctor?

  • Uneven precipitation on mountains?

Do you know why there is uneven precipitation on mountains? Like one side of the mountain will be much drier than the other. This is the last question on a big science packet I have to finish, and I can't find it anywhere in my textbook or online. Thank you so much!

  • If you arrest someone, can you automatically search them?

I'm just wondering... if a police officer arrests someone are they automatically allowed to search them? What about their car? I'm pretty sure if you arrest someone for a driving-related crime you're allowed to search their car, but what if you arrest them for something else (eg: drug possession) and they're in their car or their car is nearby? Are you allowed to search it? What about their house?

I'd really like sources but i'd like any help I can get!

    Thanks! =)

  • Dateless for Prom?

I don't have a date to my senior prom, and there are no guys in my grade who would go with me that I'd want to go with. I wouldn't have a problem going stag, except that all 5 girls in my limo & after-prom party have dates, so before and after prom I'd be the only dateless girl. A couple of them are taking juniors to the prom as friends, and I'm not sure if I should do that too or not. I have one guy friend who I like a lot as a friend and think is attractive (even though we would never go out). But we're not THAT close, and I'm not sure how well he'd get along with my other friends. Another guy is a little bit less attractive and he's also two years younger than me (he skipped a grade) but I think he'd fit in with my friends more. Or I could go stag. I don't even know if either of the guys would be able to go with me. What should I do?

  • school administrator qualifications?

If a teacher wants to be promoted to an administrative position in a school, do they need to have received more education than they would have needed to just stick with teaching? I think that administrators need some kind of extra administrative degree, but I wasn't sure.

  • great work of literature?

    Something to think about...

I was just thinking how in high school, everyone reads the same 20 or so books throughout the year (of course it varies a little bit, but some books, like the catcher in the rye & romeo and juliet are always there) that are considered the classics. With so many books out there, why are they the "great" ones? What makes a great work of literature? What do you think?

  • Little Miss Sunshine?

Did anyone here see the movie "Little Miss Sunshine?" Did anyone not like it? I think that would be impossible- it was literally the best movie I've ever seen! I was laughing and crying at the same time the entire movie and my friend and I were speechless at the end. But anyway, hope you all liked it... share your thoughts on the movie please!

And if you didn't see it, go see it. Now!

  • question for athiests?

I am a Christian but I completely respect both athiests and agnostics. I was just wondering, for all you athiests out there, how can you actually be an athiest-knowing that there could not possibly be any god at all? It seems that it would make much more sense to be an agnostic, which neither believes nor disbelieves in God. I know a lot of agnostics but no athiests, and the agnostics all believe that it's impossible to be an actual athiest. So just out of curiousity (I really do not want to offend anyone here, i just want to know) what made you know that there isn't a god? Or are athiests really not certain there isn't one but call themselves athiests instead of agnostics because more people know what athiesm is?

  • How can I cut ties with two "friends?"?

There are two girls who think they are friends with my real friends and I and they think they're coming to prom with us. However, these girls do so many mean things to us and are currently in a fight with one of my friends, so we obviously don't want them in our prom limo & after party. We want to tell them, but the thing is we've been nice to them for two years and it would seem weird to all of a sudden confess that we hate them. What's the best way to cut ties with these two girls?
