  • Is there a good natural diet for dogs?

    Hi,

My dog is slowly recovering from a terrible gastritis (GI track upset). She is 4 years old, a rottweiler. She is slowly eating some food, so we are very hopeful that she will be able to recover quickly and get back to eating normal amounts of food. However, since the vet was never able to figure out what caused this terrible gastric infection, she may never be able to eat regular dog food again. Or at least for couple months.

Does anyone know about any proper, good natural diet for dogs? Like in cases, when dogs are allergic to certain foods, or when they are sickly and need to be on highly nutritious food? I am looking for some recipes or recommendations as to what I could start feeding her once she comes home from hospital. I heard about raw diet for dogs, but I am not sure if that's not too early to feed.

    Please, advise if you can.

    Thank you!

  • HELP!!!! My dog is throwing up?

    Hi,

My dog has been throwing up and pooping blood for 2 days now. We went to vet yesterday, they said it was food poisoning, they send us home with antibiotics, they gave her a IV bag under skin, and told us to give her little bits of water. We did all that, but she won't hold much of the water in. If she drinks a small bowl of water, she throws up about half of it. The vet is not available at all, because of the memorial day weekend. So, I called emergency vet, and they said to not give her anything, no water, no food for 7-8 hours to let the system calm down. Is this correct? It's been 4 hours since the advice and she still threw up about a half of cup of water and bile from her stomach. She is very tired, can't sleep and is lethargic. Please, help!! What should I do? The vet is not available and the emergency vet clinic is acting like it's all right, saying that that's okay. Please, help!!!

  • Is there a way to calculate how many calories one burns on an average day?

    Hi there,

I am trying to loose some weight and I was wondering if there is any way to calculate how many calories a person burns on an average day, without any excercise, just walking to work, sitting behind desk, breathing, talking, etc. Just your regular inactive day.

Does anybody know how to measure this?

    Thank you!

  • Need your help with a survey!!!?

I need 10 people to answer few questions about their "family values". It's a very simple questionaire and it's designed to find out what values people live by these days.

This is my research project for my Social Justice class and it would help me greatly if you could answer these questions for me. Please, be honest, answer every question as best as you can and take it seriously. I don't need your name or anything like that, just state your race, sex and age.

    Thank you so much!

1.What do you believe are the most important values that people should live by?

2.What are your personal values? Name up to three.

3.Do you live by your own values? Explain.

4.What values did your parents raise you by?

5.Do you live by those values or have you abandoned them?

6.Did you replace your parents’ values by your own? Why?

7.If you have children, did you or do you raise them according to your values? If you have no children, what values would you recommend be taught to our young people? cont.

  • What's the best way to trim dog's nails?

    hi there,

Quick question: What's the best way to cut my dog's nails? He hates it and I feel really bad having to force him to sit still and literally arm-wrestle him just to trim one nail. He cries a lot and wants to get away before I even touch a single nail!

Do you have any suggestions how to trim dog's nails painlessly and without much terror?

    Any advice is appreciated!

    tks

  • How to make a candle out of old wax?

    Hi there,

I would like to re-use some old wax from candles that burnt out and make few new candles out of it, instead of tossing it into the trash.

Does anyone know how can I make a candle at home? Can I re-use this old candle wax? What do I need to make a candle? What are the steps? I am a complete beginner in this, so any advice from an experienced candle maker will be appreciated.

    Thank you.

  • Are rechargeable batteries good to use?

    Hi there,

I am considering switching from the regular batteries (Duracell, Energizer) to the rechargeable batteries, mostly because of the environment as there is no place for me to recycle the used batteries where I live.

My question is: Are rechargeable batteries as good as the regular ones? Do they last longer or shorter than regular?

And lastly, what is the best brand of rechargeable batteries to buy?

I appreciate any advice. Thank you.

  • Question about US mail system?

    Hi there!

I have few questions about the US Post Office:

    1. Who has jurisdiction over the federal mail?

    2. Can police officers open my mail (packages or letters)?

    3. Is there any reasonable expectation of privacy when I drop my letters or packages into the mailbox?

    4. When is a letter or a package officially considered the property of the US post office? From what point? Like, as soon as I put the stamp on it or as soon as I put in the mailbox?

    5. Who, other than the addressee, open the mail? Is there any federal law for this?

If you please could, site your sources or give me an authority for what you are saying, like some someone vs. someone, Supreme Court decision, etc.

I really appreciate it! Thank you.

  • My newly adopted cat is sneezing. Why?

    Hi there,

I just adopted a little 6 month old baby kitten. She was okay as of yesterday, but today I noticed she started sneezing a lot. She has runny nose and sniffles and sneezes quite often. Her energy level is okay. She eats fine and used the litter box first time this morning. Does anyone know what is the reason for the sneezing? Could it be something from the kennel I adopted her from? Is it the same thing like when a dog comes from a kennel with kennel cough and then it goes away on its own? Do I need to worry about this or just wait to see if it clears up on its own? I read somewhere that it's okay for a cat to sneeze if it came from a animal shelter to a new home. What do you think? Please, advise! Thanks.

  • Why do my bamboo plants die all the time?

    Hi there,

Quick question: My bamboo plants keep dying all the time. I don't know why. They have water and everything. I buy them nice and green, they last for several months and then they suddenly for no reason start turning yellow, and then later black. Then they just sort of die off. Almost looks like they dried out, but that's impossible, cause they always have water in the pot. And it's always only one or two bamboos out of a bunch of them, like 20 bamboos and 3 start turning yellow. Why is that? Does anyone else have same problem? Please, advise. Tks.

  • Could a bad tooth be cause of a sickness?

    Hi there!

I have been sick for over a week for really no good reason. I take vitamines, dress warm, etc. The symptoms are very cold like, but in completely reverse and crazy order. I just got sore throat after a week of coughing with nothing getting coughed up. I am also extremely tired the whole time. But I don't feel very bad. I feel okay, other than I wish I could just sleep all day. I was wondering if this could have anything to do at all with a bad tooth. I had a root canal done last week on a tooth that has been giving me lot of problems for over a year. Now that the root canal is done and the tooth is okay, I was wondering if that might have triggered some kind of response in my body in form of this strange sickness? Is it possible? I heard once that bad teeth, even if people don't know about them, can cause very weird health problems. Please, advise. tks

  • Where can I legally sell a genuine leopard coat made in 1950s?

    Hi there,

I am wondering where could I legally sell a real leopard coat make in 1950s in Africa? To explain, my grandmother is having hard times paying her medical bills, she had a surgery on both knees and the insurance didn't cover the entire bill. So, my grandma has huge debt cause of this and is trying to sell whatever she can from her house to pay the bill. She got this leopard coat from a former boyfriend like 60 years ago. He had it made in Africa from a leopard a hunter shot over there, while he was stationed there as a soldier or something like that. At that time the leopards were not endangered species. They are today.

She would like to sell the coat, cause someone told her that it would have big value. She asked me to do it for her. It's just that I don't know where can I legally sell it without anyone getting all pissed off at me like I killed the leopard myself and made a coat out of it. Does anyone know where can such an item be sold or auctioned? Thank you.

  • What do you think about the Columbia University students attacking the Minutemen?

I don't know if you've seen the news yet, but the Minuteman Project speaker was just attacked by students at the Columbia University. He was an invited guest and he came there to speak about the illegal immigration and they just attacked that poor old man and shouted nasty words at him in Spanish! What a shame for the Columbia University! What do you think about that?

  • What do you think about the death of Steve Irwin?

I think he deserved it. I don't mean to be rude or anything, but that guy was an asshole. He treated animals like they were toys. He had no respect for them. I have swam with rays 3 times already and I can tell you that they must be one of the most peaceful creatures in the world. They will let you touch them, they will swim with you and won't harm. This moron must have provoked the ray that's why it killed him. He always provoked animals, which no one who loves them would do. That aligator stuff he was pulling, God! My friend works with gators in Everglades in FL, he said what this guy was doing was extremmely irresponsible. Irwin was full of ****. Everything he did to animals was just for his stupid show. My dad is a vet and he treats animals with RESPECT!!! Finally, the world is rid of him. I think he sucked!!!
