  • Cat grass- does it curtail or condone cats eating houseplants?

My husband is an avid indoor gardener. In short, we have a jungle in the house, some of the plants toxic. Our two cats are very well trained about staying away from the plants, but sometimes curiosity gets the best of them, and they will occasionally try to nibble if not watched ( one cat has a penchant for my parsley and a wayward spider plant). I suggested that we get a pot of cat grass to curtail their plant eating habit to their own plant, but husband says it will just teach them it's okay to eat any of the plants. Does anyone have any experience with this situation?

  • Dead single man has right to reproduce?

I read this story this morning in the Chicago Tribune. It's about a dead Israeli soldier whose family won the right to inseminate a woman the man never knew with his frozen sperm, simply because the man "loved children". The man's mother said her son came to her in a vision twice about fathering children. The link is below:

    http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi...

I guess my specific questions are:

    • How does the mother have the right to choose who her dead son's sperm is impregnated in, and why does she have that right at all?

    • Even though the Israeli courts say this is "a single case", will this not be used as precedent in other similar cases?

    • Do deceased people have the same rights as the living simply through their family ties?

    • Isn't this activity akin to playing God?

Would like all opinions- serious answers, please.

  • Gift cards- just lazy presents?

Somehow I feel that gift cards are given simply because people don't even want to bother with the thought of picking a gift out. It would be sad if within 10 years Christmas giving has been reduced to handing each other small decorative envelopes. Agree? Disagree?

  • Why did banks discontinue the Christmas Club idea?

Looking into my wallet today, I noticed I am now strapped for Christmas cash. That led me to wondering why did banks ever discontinue their Christmas Club account business? Does anyone know? ( For you youngsters, a Christmas Club was an account you could put money into during the year, but not take out of until after Thanksgiving) Sure, if I could come up with a lump sum of 500 to 1000 dollars, I would put it in a CD to hold until next Christmas; that just never seems to happen since I live paycheck to paycheck.

  • Is anyone else tired of animated mucus and other biological manifestations in commercials?

I just saw a commercial for some nasal decongestant, and I swear, if I see another CGI animated body organ or body generated substance coming to life and trying to be cute, I'm going to hurl. The thing was just nasty. Seriously, I will not be suprised if they come out with a CGI fecal mound in the near future to use in a constipation commercial.

  • Why do people ask pet medical advice on here, especially when they see their pet is in distress?

It just blows my mind that people would even think twice about taking their animals to a vet when they are displaying obvious signs they are sick. If the person was sick, they'd get themselves to a doctor or the ER ASAFP.

  • Vets and vet techs- raw beef good for cats?

As someone who doesn't like preservatives and processed foods for myself, let alone my animals, are small pieces of raw beef okay for pet treats on say, on weekly basis?

  • Why do people just give the answers in Homework Help instead of just hints?

These kids are supposed to learn this stuff on their own. Just givingthem the answer doesn't make them think. Agree or disagree? Anyone?

  • Will you regret your tatoos?

I see so many young people with tatts in conspicuous places nowadays ( arms, legs, and such), and I was just wondering- do you think you will regret getting them down the road?

  • What's with the name "Baby Girl"?

I'm sorry, but if you're over 15, "Baby Girl" just doesn't cut it anymore (unless it's your father calling you that). It's akin to a grandmother wearing a T-shirt that says "Juicy". No. You are NOT "Juicy. Agree? Disagree?
