Comments full of racism!?
Our president is being called a gorilla with a monkey family all over the web by conservatives! How well and alive racism is in America. Ugly and sad!
3 AnswersGovernment9 years agoWhy don't they like Huntsman? and is Perry underestimated?
Can GPO accept a candidate that isn't a corporate goon and a religious nut job? It is not even funny anymore!
Perry likes to look dumb but he’s a power politician and a very canny one. What seems to really animate him is competition, not the wish to do good. He wins and he is as ugly as anyone. He prayed for the country yet his prayer did not include anyone but evangelists. He admittedly never gave a thought to the fact some people on death row in Texas were innocent and still executed or spent years in jail. He wanted to mandate vaccination of all girls while he was closely connected with pharmaceutical company that produces the vaccine and all that while crying over government making decisions for people. Texas has high rate of employment but is the only state in the country in which more than 50% of people work for a minimum wage. Is that the happy face of America we are looking forward to? It is all sick.

Officially not, but it seems to be impossible to win the republican nomination without it.
26 AnswersPolitics10 years agoWho is destroying America?
There is a compelling alternative to the dominant narrative of the right which is that our problem is not due to spending on things like the pensions of firefighters, but to the fact that those who can afford to buy influence are rewriting the rules so they can cut themselves progressively larger slices of the American pie while paying less of their fair share for it.

Our way or highway. No care for people or country. Just politics.
15 AnswersElections10 years agoWhat is wrong about closing tax loopholes?
There is a reason why they are called loopholes. I am just an employee, and pay my taxes in full. People with money use loopholes. And somehow it is immoral to touch those loopholes. WTF?
7 AnswersPolitics10 years agoHow many times did Republicans raise debt limit under Bush?
While the four Republicans in Congressional leadership positions are attempting to hold the increase hostage now, they combined to vote for a debt limit increase 19 times during the presidency of George W. Bush. In doing so, they increased the debt limit by nearly $4 trillion.
At the beginning of the Bush presidency, the United States debt limit was $5.95 trillion. Despite promises that he would pay off the debt in 10 years, Bush increased the debt to $9.815 trillion by the end of his term, with plenty of help from the four Republicans currently holding Congressional leadership positions: Speaker John Boehner, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl. ThinkProgress compiled a breakdown of the five debt limit increases that took place during the Bush presidency and how the four Republican leaders voted:
June 2002: Congress approves a $450 billion increase, raising the debt limit to $6.4 trillion. McConnell, Boehner, and Cantor vote “yea”, Kyl votes “nay.”
May 2003: Congress approves a $900 billion increase, raising the debt limit to $7.384 trillion. All four approve.
November 2004: Congress approves an $800 billion increase, raising the debt limit to $8.1 trillion. All four approve.
March 2006: Congress approves a $781 billion increase, raising the debt limit to $8.965 trillion. All four approve.
September 2007: Congress approves an $850 billion increase, raising the debt limit to $9.815 trillion. All four approve.
Database searches revealed no demands from the four legislators that debt increases come accompanied by drastic spending cuts, as there are now. In fact, the May 2003 debt limit increase passed the Senate the same day as the $350 billion Bush tax cuts for the wealthy.
When Bush was in office, the current Republican leaders viewed increasing the debt limit as vital to keeping America’s economy running. But with Obama in the White House, it’s nothing more than a political pawn.

And so Cluelessa has finally spoken on the subject. Or has she? I always scratch my head when she talks and it is always something that boils down to: I have no idea but I will blame Obama. Seriously: listening to her kills brain cells.

5 AnswersMedia & Journalism1 decade agoDo You Still love Obama ?
I DO. The man is doing as much as he can and works with everybody who is willing. He walked into the worst crisis since depression and after less than a year they are complaining he has not fixed it yet!! You really have to be something else to even say that with a straight face. Republican party is discarding its own moderates and is becoming a fascist group. They don't even try to hide their feeling of contempt for any human being on this planet that does not belong to the "club"- we are just not good enough as these people are hollier that thou. Maybe we should all be pinned with a scarlet letter.

In last week’s Wall Street Journal-NBC News poll, only 21 percent approve of how Republicans in Congress are handling health care reform (as opposed to the president’s 41 percent).
2 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoIs it going to turn violent?
Some people watch the ferment at town-hall meetings in America today and worry that another Oklahoma-style atrocity is brewing. A few protesters are waving placards wishing for Mr Obama’s death. Others are ostentatiously wearing firearms outside his rallies. A recent report by the Southern Poverty Law Centre describes an uptick in the number of “Patriot” militia groups since Mr Obama’s election and frets that some could turn violent.
One should not exaggerate such threats. The Secret Service does not let gun-wielding protesters too near the president. And the vast majority of people who visit crazy websites will never hurt anyone. But there is no cause for complacency, either. Politicians should tone down the rhetoric. Protesters should read some history before making Hitler comparisons. Talk-show hosts should stop pretending that paranoid nitwits are asking reasonable questions. If people are continually told that their government is plotting against them, a few may decide to fight back. And as Lee Harvey Oswald showed, even one man with a violent sense of grievance can do a lot of harm.
