  • I have to teach 8-10 year olds about Space! Any ideas?

My school is organizing a week long holiday camp for the poorer kids in the neighborhood. There's load of fun lessons (no real-hard thinking involved) and classes where the kids can move in and out from depending on their choice (they'll get an program choice list). It's something like a kid symposium *** conference.

The class I've been assigned to is 'Space'. I have to hold class for 5 days at 1 hour each go. I have to do a different space topic everyday, since the same students may be coming back everyday! Since I normally teach PE this is rather new to me (the Science teacher's on maternity!).

Can I get a few ideas about:

    1) What topics on Space kids will be interested in?

    2) What kind of games should I include?

    3) I may or may not get a projector and computer. If I do what should I play on it for the kids?

    4) Any other ideas?

Bear in mind they're 8-10 year olds and the lower percentile in terms of smart level, so I suppose any ideas on how 'deep' into space would be very useful!

    Thanks so much!

  • I'm going to New York on business and will have a day free for sights. What is a 'must-see'?

There's so many places to visit! I'll only be able to fit in 2-3 depending on the journey.

  • How do I get different video clips to run continuously on youtube?

I notice in some user's videos (esp movies) there's separate video clips about 10-15 minutes long but when one clip ends the next one starts immediately without me having to click on it.

How do I do this for my own video clips?

  • What is the name of this excellent wildlife documentary?

I think it's an old one from the 70s or early 80s but could be mistaken. The narrator's voice is very British.

The documentary revolves around a river or lake in Africa (Serengeti?) and shows the interaction between wildlife. The habitat is alive at first, then the draught sets in and the river/pool begins to dry up and the wildlife struggles to cope. When all seems lost, the rain comes back in full force and the cycle begins anew. The scene I recall vividly is how gators have to somehow immerse themselves in only mud to keep cool.

  • Are the photos of victims in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo real?

From the 2009 Swedish movie. After Mika is rescued by Lisbeth in the killer's lab, he views photos of all the latter's victims. Are the photos from real life crime scene victims? Looks very real.

Similarly in the 2011 remake with Daniel Craig, there are also photos of victims from the killer's father. Are these real too?

  • What kung fu movie was this?

Several top Kung fu masters meet at some sort of stadium in the beginning, and for some reason get poisoned. One of the master's students arrive later to find his dying master, and sets out to discover who was the killer. That's at the start - I can't recall the title! Help me!

  • What was the oldest age achieved by a human in modern times?

I'm told it was some Frenchwoman who lived up to 115 but I traveled to Malaysia recently and there's a story about some well-known freedom fighter called Met Kilao who fought the British colonial forces way back in 1880s (when he was in his 30s) and later surfaced in the 1970s, making him like 120+! He was supposedly identified by his birthmarks. Apparently he was still a wanted man so he stayed low until he felt the time was right to declare who he was.

  • Can anyone suggest some interesting topics for my HR talks?

As a HR director of course I'm aware of many relevant topics that employees may want to hear when I have my weekly get-togethers with them. But I'd like to get a different perspective in case I'm biased. I'm not talking about obvious topics like benefits or what's going on in the company - rather more like self-motivation, safety at the workplace, etc. But these seem so normal. Something fresh would be good, but they must be topics that will genuinely interest and engage employees.

    Thanks.

  • Is the Hopi prophecy rock overhyped?

I went to the Grand Canyon recently and dropped in Hopi house looking for a souvenir of anything to do with the reputedly famous Hopi Prophecy Rock. I asked around the shop attendants who didn't know anything of it (even with the aid of a picture from the net). They directed me to the elderly Hopi musicians nearby who also didn't know about the rock. Finally the found a very old Hopi man who told me the rock story was overrated by the internet, and that in Hopi culture it's of little significance.

This is so surprising. You can find thousands of links to the Hopi Rock on the internet, and various documentaries have covered it (like Ancient Astronauts series).

Does anyone REALLY know if the rock story is really meaningful? All the native Hopis I met didn;t think so.

  • Does anyone here live in Irving, Dallas? I need an answer about your area quick!?

I have a pal staying in a hotel in Irving for just a day. I want him to go over to Dallas and to Dealey Plaza and take a few pics/videos of himself at the JFK Assassination Museum for me, since I can't go myself. But as he has just a few hours everything depends on how fast he can get there and back. Can you assist in providing some info on rough distance from Irving to Dealey, what's the probable traveling time and what's the best mode of public transport and fare (cab, train, bus) and finally where to stop (station, street, etc) and any other useful info? Thanks so much! Please hurry, he's leaving tomorrow (Tuesday).

  • Is this being sensitive or insensitive? Pick one.?

A young man I know has just been told by doctors that he's got 3 months to live. We're all devastated of course, but nothing like what he must be feeling. One of our friends sent him a 'Prayer for A Good Death' card last week. It's probably a standard prayer for normal people but was it okay to send it to someone who's painfully aware he's got a time limit?

  • Profile view on LinkedIn?

My public profile is presently limited to latest job (for privacy reasons). If I invite someone to be my connection, what will they be able to see when they click on my name? Will they see my entire profile with job history details (which is what I want so they can know about me) or just the limited public profile?
