  • How do I learn violin without a teacher?

I have wanted to learn violin for a long time. My daughter (7) wants to learn also. I thought it would be fun for us to learn together. The only problem is there are no violin teachers around us. I think the closest one is in another state (around a 3 hr drive). I would love to find someone local who could give private lessons but unfortunately there are none. I am determined to learn and I want my daughter to have that opportunity also. Any ideas?

  • Is weight an issue for anyone else out there?

I am a vegan and have been without difficulties from the get go (health wise). Actually since going vegan my health has dramatically improved. I have lost around 40 lbs with little to no effort. My blood glucose levels and blood pressure have evened out with very little changes. Actually I don't have to check my blood glucose anymore... although I do get a HgA1C lab every 3 months. My blood work has all come back with everything within normal limits. I am not vitamin deficient in any way. My doctor has been very happy with these physical improvements. I am now at my ideal body weight and would love to stay there but it is starting to be a bit of a struggle to keep the pounds on. I am eating a heck of a lot just to stay as is. I was just wondering is anyone else going through this? Also my appetite has picked up which is helpful since I'm having to eat so much more to keep my weight where it is now. Please no meat jokes because it is very rude. Thank you.

  • House cat ideas?

I am looking for a good house cat. My last cat was stolen about 10 mths ago. I really miss him, but I have no hope of his return. I live in a very small town and have two young kids. I need an idea on a good cat to fill our void. I like a cat with a playful nature, but not to rough. I need ideas.

  • How do I get my 5 yr old to wash her hair?

My daughter screams and yells everytime we wash her hair. I had always hoped she would grow out of it, but lately it gotten worse. I have one of those hand held shower head, but that doesn't help. She has thick long hair and it gets really dirty if she doesn't get it washed every other day at least (since she started k-4 it is more like everyday... I think they rub dirt in the kids hair). We hate bath time and I don't know what to do.

Also I have tried googles, ear plugs, toys, her choice of shampoo, bath clothes, bubble baths (didn't work well at all). She will act better once, but after that she starts again. Also she won't help at all.

  • 40 weeks and 2 days past my due date and no change. Any Ideas?

I am 40 weeks and 2 days, I have pitting edema in my legs and feet and my nurse practioner is not helpful. First off this is my second child and my first was a week late. I don't get to see a doctor until I'm ready to push where I go (No one else takes my insurance). I started having edema 3 weeks ago and did like they said elevate my legs, drink lots of water, and avoid salt. I have always keep an eye on my b/p even before pregnancy because I have always had very low blood pressure. I have been keeping a closer eye on it now. It has been runnig around 112/60 up until now. Now it is running 134/85, which is still in the normal range. I have talked to my nurse about my worries, and she didn't really explain anything... "well you need to just have that baby". I have not dilated anymore (1cm) and She isn't going to see me again until the 30 of this month. I know alot of you are going to fuss at me, but right now that doesn't mater. I can't walk, don't and can't have sex, and need help.

  • Does anybody know why a otherwise healthy cat would vomit?

My cat who is under a year old is vomiting (not right now). He is a mostly inside cat, but he likes to go outside. He yells to go out and we didn't mind it so much because he stays close to the porch. The first time he vomited was about a week ago. We just thought he had gotten to hot outside (cause he had just come in... we made him come in). He did it once or twice after that, but not real often and only after eating, so we thought he was just eating too fast. Today he has been throwing up all day it seems like. He started this with his breakfast, then he got ahold of my daughters noodles, and three times since then (over a period of 12 hours). He hasn't got worms, and he acts like he is feeling fine. He crying loudly before he vomits. We live in a small town and vets here don't work on weekends. Also we are letting him out until we find out what is wrong, and he isn't happy about it.

  • I have awful BH, but my cervix isn't ripe. What can I do to help it along?

I am 39 weeks pregnant with my second child. I was induced last time around after going a week over due. I am almost at my due date now and my cervix is not even close to being ripe. I am having awful BH and pitting edema. I can't keep up with my 3yr old anymore, and I really need some help. Sex is not an option, and the edema makes walk impossible. My Nurse Practitioner is not very helpful, and I never get to see the doctor. My cervix is very far back, and I wouldn't know that much had it not been for the RN in the hospital. I am stuck and need some help.

  • 3yr old only child is about to be a big sis. Any way to help her feel included?

My little girl has been an only child and grandchild until now. I am about to have a little boy and her aunt is going to have a baby too. She seems happy at times, but anytime she gets around my mother she says she doesn't want a baby because things will change. I have talked to my mother, but the damage has already been done. I want to know some ways to include her before and after the baby is born. I want her to get excited again. I have 4 weeks left until my due date.

  • Labor inducers?

I hate to ask this, because I know I'm going to get a lot of people over reacting to this question. I was over a week overdue with my first pregnancy and I would not like to be that overdue again. I'm not looking to go into labor now, but I would like to know some natural labor inducers just in case. No castor oil please.
