  • Can you randomly visit a Scottish court and see a case or a hearing?

I was wondering if it is the same as in England where you can see a case unless it was ruled otherwise by the court.

I would like to get some insight into the way courts in Scotland work and was wondering if I need to contact anyone beforehand or do I just go to court and find out when the next open case is?

    Thanks

  • First day at work in Sainsbury's tomorrow - help?

Hiya! Tomorrow I have my first ever shift at Sainsbury's (7am-3pm). But I'm a bit nervous as I am not sure of a few things.

We weren't really told anything specific about the lockers at out induction, so once I come to work and get ready where do I go to get a locker so that I can leave my stuff there? I know each store differs but just roughly where do you think I'll find someone who will help me?

Now, I'm working in the Cafe. So, once I sort out the locker and clock in where do I go? Do I just go to my department - the cafe - tell them it's my first day and they'll know who to get?

Sorry if these questions seem dumb to you but when you are a complete newbie everything freaks you out, really. I'll appreciate any helpful reply.

  • Practical driving test?

Hi, I am preparing for my practical driving test. I haven't had any professional driving lessons yet, my dad has been teaching me from the beginning (he's an amazing driver with 40 years of experience and no accidents/collisions/etc.).

Recently I found some articles which made me wondering about a few things I've been doing and I'm scared I might be marked down during the test.

    1. Do I have to start the engine in neutral? I usually press the clutch and the foot brake, then change to the first gear and then start the engine. Will I be marked down for that?

    2. During an emergency brake - should I just press the foot brake as firmly and quickly without pressing the clutch (that's what I read in one of the articles which seems weird to me as this would probably result in engine stopping)? Or should I start braking and press the clutch in the process?

    3. The three-point-turn - do I have to apply the handbrake in between each of the three manoeuvres or can I use the foot brake?

Some of these questions might seem numb to you, some seem numb to me too. But there are many opinions online, different articles say different things and some cancel one another. I just want to make sure I'm doing everything right.

    Thanks.

  • Can my personal statement for college be similar to the one I sent to University?

I applied to Uni for law and got two conditionals back.

But just in case if I don't get the grades I need I would like to have college as back up. So I chose to apply for social sciences.

Are the college personal statements compared to Uni personal statements for plagiarism?

For example if I take my law one and alter it a bit to make the social sciences fit would I be accused of plagiarism?

    Thanks.

  • What is the singer I'm thinking about?

I know this is stupid but I remember this music video that I really liked but I can't remember the singer's name. It was a music video of a girl in a trailer with a guitar. I can't remember the song name either. I think the video started with her sitting at the entrance to the trailer and then there were scenes when she was inside as well.. She had highlights in her hair.

The most annoying thing is that I even remember her face but can't find a way to remember what her name was :P

    Hope somebody can help me.

    I know I don't remember a lot... :(

  • Are my blood glucose levels ok or are they too low?

I have checked my levels twice every day for the past week at roughly the same times.

I'm not going to give you the results for each day separately as it would be pretty boring because in each case levels were only about 0.1 higher or smaller. So I chose today's results:

About 11am (after not eating for at least 10-12 hours before) my levels were 5.5 mmol/l

And exactly two hours after a normal meal they were 5.9 mmol/l.

Is the level after meal ok or is it too low?

Looking forward to reading your answers :-)

    Thanks :)

  • UK citizenship/naturalization?!?

    Hi,

I have a quick question. I live in the UK for 6 years now. In 6 months I'll be 18 years old. I'm attending Secondary School and I've done Higher English.

Will I still need to pass the Citizenship test or will I just need to enclose a proof from school that my English is ok?

I don't remember the prices at all :P

Prices only from UK restaurants only, please! No dollars :P

    Thanks in advance :-)

  • Best websites for hosting/creating a web store?

    I came across many: sky.uk.net, freewebstore.org, etc...

I want to open an online store which would allow buyers to log-in and access their info, would consist of a shopping basket, would support card payments online and wouldn't have a very high monthly cost.

Does any of you have an online store? Which site is the best in value, quality of sites, number of buyers and customer service?

Give ANY advice from own experience, please.

    Thanks in advance <3

  • Non-animal tested, cruelty free products?

Hello, I really want to stop using products that are tested on animals. I love animals and I feel so guilty that I'm using such things...

Anyway, do you have any websites you could share with me where I can buy not-tested stuff?

I mean everything: cleaners of all sorts, washing liquids, etc...

And most of all, I find it really hard to find any UK sites where I can but cruelty free, non-tested make up. I heard that revlon is not testing on animals but I'm not sure if it applies to the uk one... I didn't find any information on their site...

So I would really need your help in finding some products I can buy online.

Maybe share some experience and feelings with me as well? :D

    Thanks <3

  • T-mobile unlimited data?

    Hi, everybody.

I'm planning to buy an android phone with unlimited data allowance, however, it's not directly from T-mobile but an online shop like dialaphone.co.uk or something similar.

Now, on the fair usage policy on the t-mobile site it says that android phones have up to 3GB of the unlimited data.

I was just wondering if the 3GB applies to all Android T-mobile contract phones bought anywhere or only the ones bought directly from T-mobile site or shop.

Thanks for every useful answer in advance.

  • Decode - Paramore lyrics?

I was just wondering why in the official version and in the video in the last chorus of the song before "There is something" Hayley sings "How did we get here? Well, I used to know you so well" and in live versions she sings "How did we get here? Why won't you show yourself?"

Anybody got any information why they differ?

Is it because the makers of the movie decided that this line didn't fit the movie?

    Thanks in advance :-)

  • The girl with a dragon tattoo - Stieg Larsson?

I was just wondering because everyone is telling me that the Millennium Trilogy is so amazing and I read that the author died before finishing the forth book and he originally planned to write ten books. Is every book about different stuff or does the story just stop after the first three and we never get to read the end?

I am planning to read the Millennium Trilogy but it's a bit like reading a half of the book and then just stopping without knowing what happened next.

    Thanks :-)
