Why would a doctor order you to get a C scan of your chest after seeing the adrenal glands were enlarged?
I went to the ER with terrible abdominal pain and the doctor there ordered a C scan of my abdomen. She said she found that the glands over the kidneys were both enlarged. Just how enlarged I don't know. She wanted me to get a C scan of my chest right there, but I was exhausted, went home promising I would. I think she mentioned that "something" may be traveling down...
What could be going on?
She also recommended I see an endocrinologist ASAP.
The part that baffles me is the chest connection.
Please don't cut and paste a huge general answer. Just respond if you have some medical knowledge yourself.
1 AnswerMedicine7 years agoIs it Ok to put your dog down because you can only offer him a mediocre life?
I have a 16-year old dachshund who has been blind for 8 years. His blindness hasn't affected his quality of life much. The big change came when I moved away from any family and to a country that is not dog-friendly. Because I had to work and cannot leave him alone all day every day, particularly that the neighbors complain if he barks and because it is impossible to find a dog-sitter here, I boarded him. I take him out Saturday and Sunday. During those days, I walk him once a day. I cannot visit anyone with him as he is not in control of his movements too well anymore. That's basically due to the boarding where they don't take him out much. I didn't find other boarding places to be better, except for one far from me. I only work part-time but am sick with migraine most of the time and week-ends too. So, he lives to see me two days where I do love on him, hug and talk to him, but nothing much fun happens. I do not feel guilty nor want answers along that line because I am convinced that I am doing the best I can. I don't have a good quality of life either. In fact, I am beginning to wonder if I should not act selfish and put him down because I am locked up at home all week-end alone to be with him. There are no hospices here and no one will adopt an older dog nor am I sure he can live with strangers now. He's been at this boarding place for 3 years. He is not sick. He's just beginning to eat less and he sleeps a lot. Opinions?
I do love him immensely.
8 AnswersDogs7 years agoLamictal and Hair Loss?
I have been diagnosed with major depressive disorder but anti-depressants can trigger mania in me. I also often suffered from suicidal ideation. This was about 5 years ago and since then, I've been taking 450 mgs of Lithium a day. I noticed hair falling with Lithium. Recently, I was very depressed and the doctor added Lamictal to the mix. It only helped my depression a bit. I take 250 mgs a day. However, since I started on Lamictal or a couple of weeks into it, my hair started falling in such large quantities, you can see my scalp, and I am scared. Am I crazy? Neither the nimh nor the Lamictal PI sheet mention hair loss as a side effect. My doctor denies it.
What do you think?
2 AnswersMental Health8 years agoWill scotch whiskey soothe your stomach?
I have terrible pain in the stomach. I think it started with me taking a lot of medicine for my migraine now gone. I had a cup of chamomile but it hasn't done anything. Will some Scotch whiskey help? I have no other liquor at home.
5 AnswersBeer, Wine & Spirits8 years agoAudio CDs compatibility across countries?
I know US DVDs do not work on foreign DVD players. What I'd really need to know is whether US CDs will work on foreign CD players. I want to buy books from Amazon that teach English as a second language and teach to a couple of people in the Middle East. Those books come with CDs. Will I be able to play them on a laptop or regular CD player bought in the Middle East? Thank you.

3 AnswersDogs9 years agoInderal Side Effects?
Has anyone experienced this on Inderal? Jittery, nervous, belligerant? I was warned about fatigue, nausea and dizziness, even depression, but not this state of being "on edge?"
I am taking 40 mgs a day and feel this way after just 10 days. So is it the Inderal or other stuff?

He has soft stools with blood and mucus. No pain. No change in apetite.
3 AnswersDogs9 years agoI was put on Topamax and Amittriptylene both for migraine prophylaxis.?
I have been slowly titrating up to 100 mgs of Topamax and 75 mgs of Amitriptylene. I have felt a slight improvement in the severity of the headaches though not the frequency. It's now been one month I'm on those doses.
What is really bothering me is the shortness of breath and fatigue I feel when I walk a short distance. A hill or one flight of stairs and I'm really heavily breathing.
I would like to know which of the two meds to cut down on. I know they both cause fatigue, but which would make a significant effort if I cut down on? The doctor is not helping.
Anyone been there?
4 AnswersOther - Diseases9 years agoI am going on a vacation to Istanbul and am hesitant as to where to stay?
It seems I have a choice between Taksim and Sultanahmet. I know that Taksim is the busy center, but what is Sultanahmet like? Are they far from each other? I am going there for five days, can afford a four-star hotel and want Turkish character. I want to see sites and eat good food, only some shopping. So I want a neighborhood recommendation between the two, and a hotel if you tried it personally.
4 AnswersTurkey10 years agoWhy Is My Dog Passing The Most Offensive Gas Smell?
I have a 14-year old Dachshund in good health. Naturally, well, he always farted, and it was always unpleasant. However, in the last 2 or 3 months, it's become totally intolerable and very frequent. Could he be sick? Just age? The food was changed, but more like 5 months ago.

Can you please provide support for the answer? One side (Claimants) claim that the other side (Respondents) owe them money. The evidence is not strong. The Burden of Proof would make a big difference.

3 AnswersPain & Pain Management10 years agoHeadache/Migraine Ongoing for a Week?
I have always suffered from migraine and I get them about twice a week. I have headache in my title because sometimes they're not the typical one-sided ones but more like a band around my head.
I have been to practically every neurologist and headache center in the country, so pleeeeeeez do not offer long-term advice or suggestion to see someone.
My questions is more for fellow sufferers. Could this episode due to taking Tylenol 3 every six hours and should I try and bear the pain without pain-killers? How long before it goes away?
