1 AnswerOther - Pets9 years agoRed eared sliders, tips or advice?
I have four sliders rescued from a construction site as hatchlings. So far, they are doing great, have grown like weeds, and been good pets. But I know they will get more difficult. Does anyone have some tips? Right now they are housed in a 40 gallon tank, but looking for something bigger. Also, the water gets nasty in a couple days, and I have a filter for a 100 gallon tank! Any other recommendations? And most important, how do I sex them? I don't want eggs, nor do I want to loose my possible females from egg binding!
3 AnswersReptiles9 years agoKindergartner has trouble with letters, but not sight words....?
My daughter is 6, on the older side for her class, and she is a bit immature, but she still does not know all her letters. The funny part is she recognizes all her sight words and quite a few words that have not been taught to her. Her teacher brought this up at our parent teacher conference. I also learned to read by the words, not letters. I'm now a bit concerned. Has anyone else ever seen this? Is it a learning disability or just a difference? I did learn my letters and sounds, but not phonics, so I struggle with spelling and new words, would like her to avoid those issues! She also struggles with names, she still does not know most of her classmates names. I don't know if that is related, though. Any helpful advice?

4 AnswersFish1 decade agoAnyone else heard this story, outside Oklahoma?
http://www.normantranscript.com/localnews/local_st...
That is the link to the latest story I found. What happen is some cops decided to shoot a rat snake, didn't check where they were, and ended up killing a five-year-old little boy. This makes me sick on so many different levels. Don't they teach cops basic gun safety? Don't they know the basic rule of what comes up must come down? If they just HAD to kill a harmless snake, why didn't they use the shot gun in their trunk? What would possess anyone to try to shoot a snake with a 40 cal handgun?!?! Four grown men at this scene, and not a half a brain to be found? My 15 year old would know better!! Still no release of names of the cops, good thing it wasn't a private citizen. So much wrong with this whole thing, why hasn't there been a huge public out-cry? Any thoughts from others?
8 AnswersHunting1 decade agoIs this normal? Adoption question about birth mom..........?
I am in the process of adopting my step-children. Their bio mom has now moved back and lives in the same very small town we do. She threw a fit when she found out we were going to terminate her rights, but now she totally ignores the kids. It is infuriating to me that she will walk right past them in Wal-mart and not even acknowledge them. Is that NORMAL? Why did she start to fight the adoption(she consented when she found out it would do away with her paying support)? I don't understand, and it hurts me to see my kids hurt this way! I really don't want her to talk to them, but I would NEVER say that to her. We even did an open adoption, but she has to pass drug tests to see the kids(she has never wanted to). Yesterday she was in the same room with my son for 15 minutes, and ignored him totally. He has not seen her in over three years, and due to drugs, she looks quite different, but he asked me later if it was her. I was SO tempted to lie! Anyone else experience this?
13 AnswersAdoption1 decade agoHow do you add songs to myspace?
Regular songs, not the ones on artist pages there. I have seen others do it, I just don't know how. Does the song need to already be stored on my computer? Please give fairly detailed answers; I'm not totally stupid, but I am a little slow!
2 AnswersMySpace1 decade ago.XXX DOMAIN NAMES? Do you think porn sites should........?
be using them?? As a mom, I think it would be so much easier if they did. I could just block that domain, and my kids would be a little safer, but then I think that maybe it would make me a little lax. I mean porn is not the only thing to be wary of on the internet. Also, I don't like the idea of MORE goverment in my life. So what do you guys think??
2 AnswersInternet1 decade agoHow do you teach a 12 year old to express feelings with out.....?
Being rude? We did not raise her to this piont, and she has always gotten in trouble for having "different opionions". Now we want to hear what she has to say, but without the abuse. How do you explain the diffrence?!?
7 AnswersAdolescent1 decade agoPanic attacks in an 11yr old?
My husband and I are fighting for custody of my step-daughter. It is a very ugly fight, and since we do not have her, we can't protect her from it. Anyway, we just found out that she has regular "panic-attacks" that she has to leave school for, sometimes going to the ER. These started last year. She is now in court ordered counsiling, but we don't know if the counsilor has been told about these attacks. Anyone have any experience with this in a child so young? We know she has gone through some bad mental abuse, and at this piont, believe sexual abuse is also occurring, but not sure. Would that bring on the attacks?
6 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoAdoption questions....need some answers and not sure where to look..?

I had tips put on for a big event, and now I need to take them off. I tried acetone polish remover, it kinda worked, but was very slow. Is there any other way?
18 AnswersOther - Beauty & Style1 decade agoIs your off-line personality the same as your on-line personality?
If you are too serious here are you that way in your "real life"? What about you guys who just make rude comments and are smart-*sses here? Is this an escape from your button down office drone life?
For me, it is adult conversation in an otherwise child filled day. I tend to like the "trolls" better than people who take everthing so seriously, at least I get a laugh!
Oh, I posted this question here because there seems to be a good mix of both extremes in this catagory.
25 AnswersReligion & Spirituality2 decades agoWhy are racist/sexiest people such cowards?
Why do they have to come on the internet were no one knows who they are? Why don't they just state their feelings face to face? The only time they want to say something face to face is when they out-number the victim 3 to 1, or the size diffrence is really unfair.
13 AnswersOther - Society & Culture2 decades agoHas anyone else adopted thier step children?
I have raised my step-children now for 3 years, their mother does not pay child support, and has only seen them twice. It is not so much to keep her out, but she is in and out of the drug scene, and generally a nasty person, and a terrible mother. I want to adopt them, but want to know real life experiances with this. My other question is: If I do adopt them, and their mother manages to pull herself out of the gutter in the future, and we allow her to visit, will she be able to use that to get the kids back? I want them protected if something were to happen to my husband.
7 AnswersParenting2 decades agoIs there a site that lets you check a persons public records for free?
I want to check someone's background, mainly to see if they have been in jail. Is there a website I can do this for free, or do I have to pay. Going to the courthouse is not option, it is a 48 hour drive. BTW, If there is a better pleace to post this question, please, let me know!
2 AnswersInternet2 decades agoCat with hip problem?
Has anyone had a cat with hip problems? My cat has dysplaysia like syptoms. I'm pretty sure it is not an injury, he was a bottle baby, that I raised from a couple days old, so I think it is genetic. He is total indoor, 5 months old, domestic shorthair(a mutt) with a cobby body type. He doesn't limp, but is clumsy, and his hips seem "funny", they seem to dip down. He runs like a dog with bad hips. I plan to have him x-rayed when he is nuetered, in 8 days, but wanting more info. I don't think this is related, but he also only has one desended testical.
5 AnswersCats2 decades agoAnyone from Oklahoma see the front page of the Daily Oklahoman?!?
It is so rare to see anything good about pit bulls, and it was a great picture, with a good article. Could tell was very carefully unbiase, but still, at least it wasn't negative!!

3 AnswersCooking & Recipes2 decades agoBorzoi? Chetco? Anyone?
About 12 years ago I started to do research on Borzoi, I think they are beautiful. I ended up with a Rhodesian Ridgeback, which was perfect for me(obedience and conformation, even did a little tracking) but I still would like to have a Borzoi one day. Do you know any good websites to do some research on pedigrees? I like the colored dogs, which use to be hard to find, but seem to be getting more popular. I wish I could say I was getting one soon, but it will still be a few years.......but I still want to look!
