  • Tax Deductions and Returns?

I'm 17 years old and currently working part-time.

Over the summer I worked 69.75 hours at 7.90/hr.

    Gross $551.03

    Net $502.50

    Federal:

    -Withholdings $4.57

    -Social Security $23.14

    -Medicare $7.99

(rest are local and state taxes)

    Current Job:

    228.0 @7.40 and 7.76h @11.10

    Net $1,791.12

    Gross $1,530.74

    Federal:

    -Withholdings $104.10

    -Social Security $75.23

    -Medicare $25.97

    (rest are state and local)

My question is: why does it seem like more taxes are being deducted from my current job than the temporary job I held over the summer? Is this because Federal tax was adjusted on the one over the summer, but I should get the difference on the current job in my tax return? My parents will file me as a dependent, what will my tax return be? I've tried online calculators, but as far as I can tell it will be ~$100

  • Large red winged butterfly?

It was fairly large, spread out probably about the size of a CD. It had red double wings (the 2 part wings on each side) and it had some sort of white or other colored thin-lined pattern on them. It had a huge body, about the size of a cicada. I found it in Ohio, can anyone help me figure out what it was?

  • Gorilla glue or hot glue for balsa wood?

I'm going to build a balsa wood bridge, but not sure which to use. The Gorilla glue is a stronger glue all around, but I'm thinking the balsa wood will soak in the hot glue and provide a better bond. Suggestions?

  • Opinions on a website?

I have 2 mockups here (not fully functional):

    One -

    http://nickven.info/mybiowaste/homepage.html

    Two -

    http://nickven.info/mybiowaste/homepage2.html

    Questions:

Which one do you like best? Why

Is the header font and slogan font good, or should it be different?

    Any other opinions or ideas.

    Keep in mind:

They are both just layouts, I haven't started on adding color.

You should base most of your opinion on layout.

The font of the large paragraph hasn't been editted.

The site looks best when viewed in the latest version of Firefox or Chrome. IE7 has some slight differences and it hasn't been jury-rigged for IE6 yet.

Best answer goes to the one with a well thought out comment that offers helpful advice while answering the questions.

  • Somewhat simple electronic projects?

Anyone know any goood electronic projects for kids around 14-16 that can be made with parts from local stores like Radioshack. Example: Modify a flashlight with a bigger bulb and batteries to make it brighter. Make a LED lamp array to light up a desk. (They need to be around $10 or less per project also)

  • Hot gluing electrical wires?

Alright, before you say "it won't work," here's what I want to do. I'm making a little light and ripped a tiny push button switch off an old clock. It works fine for what I want, but I don't have a soldering iron, and don't want to buy one either.

Could I hot glue the wires and switch to a small plastic square? There will only be 6V DC running through the wires and that shouldn't be hot enough to melt the glue right?

(Just lay the wires down, put a tiny drop of hot glue down, then press the switch leads into the wires? The leads are about 3mm long)

  • Ohio Bicycle Laws regarding ?

I'm looking for information on bicycle (any machine powered by humans, including trikes, bikes, unicycles, et cetera) laws regarding trailers (any type of wheeled, unpowered vehicle pulled behind another vehicle, including wagons). State of Ohio please. I would like a government website where I can read about such laws. I have found some about bicycle laws, but none mentioning the usage of trailers.
