What causes PC programs to not close? Read additional info...?
every day, my pc gets overloaded. For example, I'll open a word document then close it. When I go into Task Manager, I will sometimes see 2 or more instances of Word still open.
This also happens with Internet Explorer.
I just did a complete reinstall to a fresh formatted hard drive because of the same problem thinking that might do the trick but I am continuing to have the same problem.
I have 1 gig physical memory and as per Task Mgr, I never use up anywhere close to all of it. I am operating with Win2000.
I did a Memory Diagnostic test and that came up OK. CPU usage generally stays pretty low with the exception when I initiall start an application.
The only think I can think of is that the Hard Drive is starting to go. What do you think? Ask me questions, if needed about my system and I will respond. Thanks.
2 AnswersOther - Hardware1 decade agoPC Automatically Shuts Down, PS Fan continues to run.?
I have a EMachine, T2792 with an Imperial GV Motherboard. (dont laugh, this pc lasted 3 years, a year longer than I expected).
It just started shutting down but the PS fan will continue to run.
To restart, I have to UnPlug the PS from the wall. When I plug the PS back in, the PS fan automatically starts spinning. I click on the power button and the PC will start up but in about 5 min, sometimes more (maybe 1/2 hr) it will shut down again.
I cleaned the CPU Heatsink and all the fans. I checked the CPU temp and it reads 45c. so that shouldnt be the problem.
I changed the PS and I get the same results as the original PS.
I'm thinking it is a bad MB and getting an overheated resister, diode or whatever else that could go wrong on a MB.
Any Ideas?
Finally, of course you cannot just take the HD and install it in another PC. WinXp wont let you do that.
Will an Identical MB work? I'm thinking it will.
Thanks.
5 AnswersDesktops1 decade agoMS Office 2007, Can it be installed on multiple PCs using 1 product key?
Like the operating systems, MS has a validation system and will only allow usage on one PC. Is MS doing the same with the MS Office products?
If you don't know, don't answer - please give a resource for your answer. Thanks
