Do I need a Low Power voltmeter circuit?
I'm new to electronics and am playing with a bench top power supply circuit that I found (http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Build-a-Ben...
it regulates from 1.5 - 12v but since it uses a pot to adjust voltage there is no way of knowing what the output is.
Would I be better off making a "dial" for the pot, or is there a small voltmeter circuit I can incorporate into this? If so can you point to one that would work?
2 AnswersEngineering1 decade agoHow do you design a clockworks mechanism - like a gear train?
I have an idea for a kinetic sculpture, but I need to figure out how to make some pretty tricky clockworks mechanics to make it. Anyone know how to get started in this? A good book, or a web site? Something laymen level (light on the math formula) preferred.

I have been interested in robotics for some time and would like to share thoughts and knowledge with others in my area. However there doesn't seem to be many people out there.
1 AnswerOther - Science1 decade agoOlbermann Obama 08?
Keith Olbermann host of MSNBC’s “Countdown” who’s “special comment” to Mr. Bush on the 5 year anniversary of 9/11 should be recorded into social studies books with the care and honor befitting Lincoln’s “Gettysburg address” and who’s recent “Retort to the Rose Garden” questioning Mr. Bush’s reprehensible use of the turn of phrase “it is unacceptable to think” has given me that awe and admiration that should be installed in every American by their President. That feeling which I have not felt since Barack Obama gave his eloquent, inspiring, and patriotic speech at the Democratic Nation Convention, and made me long to move to Illinois, has lead to this question.
Do you think America will ever let the partisan system die, stop voting what they believe to be right, what they are told is right, and simply vote what is right?
P.s. Mr. Olbermann, Senator Obama just something for you two to consider.

2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs2 decades agoHey have you heard this one?
A new doctor was doing his residency as an O.B./ G.Y.N
Being, new and young he was quite embarrassed performing female exams and had unconsciously formed a habit of whistling softly to cover his embarrassment.
One day a young lady upon whom he was performing this exam, suddenly burst out laughing which upset and further embarrassed the doctor.
Filled with embarrassed rage he snarled "Just what is so funny, ma’am?"
The patient, realizing she had upset him replied, "I'm sorry doctor, but the song you were whistling was ‘I wish I were an Oscar Meyer Weiner'!"

Since I have been unable to find an antonym for misogynist (A man who hates women) I thought I would invent one...
Wisogynist - (wa-sa-gin-est) a woman who hates men.
What do you think?
Anyone know how I might go about submitting it to Webster's?
5 AnswersOther - Arts & Humanities2 decades agoHow do you feel about the new Yahoo! Homepage?
I don't like it looks too much like Aol.com and if I liked Aol.com as much as I like the old Yahoo! homepage I wouldn't come to Yahoo.
Anyway, I want to know what your take on it is.

Why are political labels applied to everything now a days?
Republican, Democrat, Conservative, Liberal…WHY?
I am an Independent, I vote conscience not party. I just don’t get it.
Why do people like Bill O’Reilly and Rush Limbaugh label, tag, classify, and pre-judge every little thing then gets said?
16 AnswersPolitics2 decades agoWho hates the new Yahoo Home Page?
Since they got ride of the link back to the old page, I figured out that if you clear your temporary internet files (Tools>Internet Options, delete cookies, delete files, and clear history) you can more often then not reload the old page. If you get the new page again, just clear it out and try again.
But again, I really don’t like it and was just curious who how many people did?

I am working on some robotic art and would like to catch the reflection of the Sun in a mirror and reflect it on a stationary plant.
Given the latitude and longitude how might I calculate the DEC and RA of the sun (to aim the mirror) at every point in the day?
Do you think this can be done/ built into a clockworks mechanism? Or would servo/ electric control be needed?
3 AnswersAstronomy & Space2 decades agoWhy is Yahoo Tech support and their e-mails so crappy?
I had an old account, this was before secret questions (required) and alternate e-mail(an option not even required). So some punk in the Philippines signs my e-mail up for friendster, so I change my password, and promptly forgot the new one. On 4 different times I asked for a real person in tier 2 support and the only thing I got was 5 form e-mails all saying the same thing. Does anyone know how to send e-mail to yahoo support and not get some cookie-cutter e-mail response that is about as helpful as a bird dog at a Cheney Quale hunt?
P.s. I just signed up for GMail and went throught their "forgot your password" process with no problem.
