Hi my name is Laurie, I am a political science student from Sydney, Australia. Whilst I do have some political views, I try to remain as neutral and objective as possible - all political theories and thought interests me, no matter what the ideological lense. Eventually, I would very much like to work in the political field, either domestically or overseas. My other interests include sports, music, movies, and current affairs!

  • Is there anyone out there that would like to play soccer this season?

I play for an amateur open age soccer side in the north of Sydney. We are a very social team off the pitch, but on the pitch whilst we don't play too hard, we do play to the best of our abilities. We are looking for two extra players to complete our squad. We play on Saturdays and train on Wednesdays.

    cheers.

  • Do you think Fui Fui Moi Moi deserved the Clive Churchill medal?

I don't want to cause trouble between Melbourne and Parra fans with this one - although I am bracing myself for some sort of backlash - but do you think there is any case for Moi Moi to be awarded the Churchill as best player on the field? I can't really think of anyone who played better than he did?

I know he was from the losing side, but the Churchill has been awarded to players from losing sides before, for example Brad Mackay for St. George in 1993.

Do you think the Clive Churchill should go to a member of the winning team, or should it simply go to the best player regardless of who wins?

  • Should the Grand Final ever be played interstate?

Magpies question on home finals got me thinking of this. I reckon the Queenslanders definitely have a point when they say that they are due a Brisbane grand final. What does anyone else think?

Should ever be played anywhere besides Sydney or Brisbane? What about (dare I say it) a grand final in Melbourne, either now or in the distant future?

  • Morris to replace Folau?

News just in is that Folau is gonna miss the Australian game due to injury, and Morris is coming into the side!

Gotta say, all Dragons jokes aside, I am pretty keen to see this kid wearing the green and gold.

I reckon Folau is primarily a threat in the air, which is kinda exciting, but not as exciting as the raw speed and stepping ability of Morris.

I throw the forum open to its distinguished members, write any random thoughts on this topic that you feel like!

  • Do you think you can rate players you have never seen?

I always find it strange when the question is asked, 'greatest of all time?' and people start mentioning all the old players and saying how great they are, when they have never actually seen them play? Seems kinda silly to back a horse you have never seen running...

  • What do Victorians, SA, WA, think of Rugby League?

Hey Victorians, someone from your section asked this question in Rugby League, so I thought I'd also give you guys a chance to let rip. Plus, i'm interested if any AFL fans from Victoria or SA or WA watched or liked the State of Origin?

If you don't like Rugby League, i'm also interested as to why you don't like it, what parts of our game just don't do it for ya?

I'm not trying to be too funny, i'm just genuinely interested.

Or if you like, you can just abuse me!

  • Will New Zealand players ever play for New Zealand?

Karmichel Hunt is a classic example of what I mean (great player BTW). After six years in Australia, he decides to play for Australia, despite the fact that he's quite obviously a Kiwi. The reason is (despite what they say) that if they play for NZ, they are not eligible to play State of Origin, which in reality is the only meaningful League Rep football. This is something that Sonny Bill Williams recently brought up on the footy show.

If you were a young talented Kiwi why on Earth would you play for New Zealand?

    Does this matter?

    Is there a solution?

  • What is with the boundary rules??

I am currently up V late in Sydney and attempting to watch Adelaide vs Essendon. Why on earth would you have a rule that you can't deliberately handball to the sideline when a player really can deliberately handball out: he knows it, the oppostion knows it, the coaches know it, the fans know it the umpires know it, but if he kinda falls over and sorta makes it look like it might have been an accident in la la land, then its not a penalty? Why don't you just blow the penalty for deliberately knocking it out??? Same too with holding the ball. He's holding it. He's not trying to dispose of it. He's pretending. Everyone knows it. But if he sorta makes it look like he might be giving it a go - to the flys behind the bar in Fitzroy - then it isn't a penalty?? Please Explain!!!

  • Has anyone else realised that in Rambo 3, Stallone was effectively fighting FOR the Taliban?

In Rambo 3, Stallone was fighting for the 'resistance' against the Soviet invaders. Fair enough, except that this resistance went on to become the Taliban government and Al Qaeda. How do we feel about this? Can we ever enjoy this movie again?

  • Is Saddam dead??

    Watch this video,

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCC0HjgPSoU&mode=re...

Doesn't the whole thing seem a little sus? Saddam is executed way before any of his henchmen? The camera here swings away, right at the crucial moment when "Saddam" is hung? It doesn't look much like him after he is dead. Saddam was the US favourite Middle Eastern pet before 1990, and then suddenly he is international enemy number one? I bet he is living it up in Syria somewhere...

Also this video was somehow shot and released against the wishes of the US, without them being able to stop it? When it conveniently provides evidence of Saddam's execution? Did someone say "moon landing?"

  • Do you rekon Tom Cruise ate his baby's placenta?

It's a scientology custom, that the father of a new born child should eat the newborn's placenta... If Tommy boy did decide to make a meal of it, do you rekon he ate it raw? If not how would he cook it?

I personally think the whole thing is pretty sick... Does anyone agree/disagree? Are there any scientologists (or scientology buffs) out there that can shed some light on this?
