  • Why isn't my background showing up when I set it up through css?

    td {background: url('initials.jpg')}

The file exists, I've checked the syntax 100 times, tried with firefox and IE, tried png and gif files, body instead of td, a nearly empty html with just html, header, css link, and body tags, and all of my hair is turning gray because my images are not showing but examples on w3schools.com work fine in their tryit example pages. What am I doing wrong here? Please!

  • How can I run real dos on a partition?

I have a game that will not run in the command prompt, and I have learned that the game needs true dos to run (I'm using WinXP). I recently formatted my HD for other reasons, so I made a 2G partition while I was at it. I don't even know how to access or even attempt to boot from this partition or how to install dos on it. I had thought that there were some free versions of dos out there, but I'm pretty confused about what to do. Can someone help me out?

  • Should I buy Euro today?

I'm living in europe but I am paid in dollars and my money is stored as dollars. The euro rate has sucked this past year, but it jumped up to .72, but just dropped down to .69 and back up to .70. Should I take out the euro I'll need for the next few months today so that I'm getting this nice rate? Or is there a reason why the exchange rate is getting better and it's going to continue to get better?

  • How can I install msdos on a partition without already owning an install disk?

I am running windows xp and I have a game that will only run in "true dos." Since xp is not dos based, I cannot boot in dos. I recently formatted my HD and reinstalled windows, so I created a small partition on my disk intending to use it for dos. I do not have a dos install disk and I have no floppy drive on any of my computers. How can I make a bootable install disk or install dos onto my partition in some other way?

  • How can I give one program exclusive access to my hard drive and cpu?

My hard drive light flickers on several times a minute, and I can see in the task manager my cpu is occasionally used even if I'm not doing anything. I want to capture video with windows movie maker through a firewire, but I've realized that the video skips after being captured. The skipping definately happens at capture, because: 1 The original video does not skip when played back onto a TV through DV Camcorder, 2 The captured video is about a minute short for every hour of video, 3 The video skips after being transfered to another pc and even after being burned to dvd with another pc and played in a normal dvd player. (original pc has no dvd burner and second pc has no way to capture video) My research suggests that the problem is occuring because of other programs accessing the HD and CPU during capture, and the video does skip more if I run other apps during capture. I've already emptied my HD of all but Windows XP plus upgrades, and I have removed many optional startup apps using msconfig. Is there a way to turn off all background programs safely, or even better, temporarily reserve HD and CPU access for the one program/task?

  • Mini DV video captured with Windows Movie Maker Skips?

I captured video from my mini dv camcorder using Windows Movie Maker for XP with my laptop. I connected the devices with a firewire. When I went to edit the video, I noticed that it skips (usually less than half a second at a time) throughout. It's really bad on at least one video, and it skips at least enough to cut out a full minute for every hour of each video. The video does not skip like this when played by the camcorder alone. My laptop does not have a good graphics card, but It has a 2Ghz PCU, 1.5GB RAM, and plenty of hard drive. I noticed just now that the same type of skipping happens when playing a DVD, but that might be a coincidence. What's most likely the problem (or what is NOT the problem, so I don't try to fix that) and/or what can I do to fix it? Please help if you can.

  • How can I fix my broken car horn? 2005 honda civic?

I hit another car with the left-front of my car, and now the horn doesn't work. It's not the fuse. I'm pretty sure it's the horn itself. I have a 2005 Honda Civic. My biggest problem is, I don't know how to GET to the horn itself.

  • Is there a tutorial or even a book I can buy which would show me exactly how to program cell phone games?

I have a lot of experience programming with C++, particularly the Allegro gaming library, and I have started to learn Java, but I can't find out how to make a program compatible with a cell phone or how to put the program onto a cell phone as a game once it is finished.

  • Should I use water cooling on the PC I plan on building? It's my first time building one. (For Gaming)?

I like the advantages of water cooling that I've read about, but I've never dealt with it, and this will be my first time building a PC. Is installing a water cooling system risky overall to those inexperienced, or are you only going to get leaks if you toss out the instructions halfway throught the process?

  • Should I install the new windows or stick with xp in the computer I plan on building?

I'm planning on building my first computer in a few months. A friend of mine did it a few years ago, and the process doesn't look very hard, so I'm going to try it myself, but I don't know whether to install the new windows or keep with the old in a handbuilt computer. I've heard it's not that great in old computers, and that it's great with computers that are bought new, with it installed. Does anyone know the pros and cons?
