  • Can someone with mild Parkinson's or essential tremor will his hand to stop shaking for a while?

On those occasions when I get a small tremor in my hand, I can, with concentration, make it stop shaking for a while. I wonder if that rules out Parkinson's (or essential tremor). I was diagnosed a couple years ago with Parkinson's by one neurologist, but the second opinion neurologist said I did not have Parkinson's (or any other neurological condition). Since they cannot seem to agree, I look for things that might help me to know for myself, like for example the fact that I have no progression of symptoms nor any other symptom than an occasional hand tremor. To me, I have neither Parkinson's nor essential tremor.

I see no point in getting a third opinion because the first two neurologists were totally unbelievable since they could not agree. Probably the third doctor would not be any better.

  • how do you get up to pee with a cpap mask on?

I'm a lucky guy who just got a CPAP machine today. The mask says "Respironics" and goes over the nose with various and sundry straps around the back of the head. These straps attach to the nose part with velcro. My question is how you take the @#%$%$ thing off when you need to get up to pee at night? The apparent answer must be that you have to pull one or more of the mask velcro straps loose, making a lot of noise and waking your spouse up. But that would be a real pain because it is a bit hard (at least for someone new to this form of torture) to adjust the strap again later (in the dark). Also, whatever you do, if you don't actually turn the machine off when you remove the mask or one of the tubes, it starts to sound like a tornado is about to hit your house. So I'm thinking I need to 1) turn the machine off, 2) pull the velcro to remove the mask and wake up my wife, 3) go pee, 4) spend the rest of the !#$#$@#! night awake because I cannot get the thing back on right in the dark. Right? I'm just too happy right now.

  • How long between PPD tests?

For a medical training program I'm applying to, I'm required to have 2 successive negative PPD tests. The school says the second test MUST be no more than 2 weeks after the first, but that it is fine if I get the second test immediately after the first is read. But the injection clinic says that after a negative first test, normally you wait a week to have a second PPD. What is the reason for waiting a week? Is there any reason why the second PPD cannot be done on the same day that the first test is read (72 hours after the first test was administered)?

  • What category of computer or video game is this?

What would you call the category of games that include things like Mario Brothers, where your character moves around through the environment avoiding dangers and collecting prizes? I wanted to look for some downloadable games like that, but don't know what that category is called.

I know it is not like arcade games where you match squares or tetris or pacman, it is not puzzle solving where you go around looking for different tools that you then use to interact with other people/situations, it is not any kind of fighting game.

If I wanted to do a search for new games like Mario, what category would I search for?

  • Where can I buy 31 cm rice paper (spring roll wrappers made of rice flour) in Sunnyvale/San Jose, CA area?

I've seen Asian places using Greenland brand 31 cm (12 inch) diameter rice paper to make large spring rolls, but I cannot find any store that sells that brand or any other brand of 31 cm (12 inch) rice paper, neither locally in the Sunnyvale, CA area (I've tried many Asian markets, all of which carry only the 8.5" 22 cm size) or online. Amazon has one selection, but it is a mix of rice flour and tapioca. I prefer rice. Apparently restaurants can get it from a restaurant supply but that isn't retail.

  • Weight Watchers program information question?

Today I attended an informational meeting for Weight Watchers at work, but the program will be cancelled due to not enough people. I asked the woman leading it if new members were given some written information describing the program. She said that for each of the first 10 weeks new members receive one "book" about an aspect of the program. If I go to a community based WW meeting, will I get those? Over 10 weeks? What if I sign up for WW online? My impression is that if I sign up for WW online, I don't receive any startup materials, just access to the website.

  • Who accepts donation of wheelchairs and crutches?

Goodwill does not. United Way will not refer me to anyone who does. Some places have accepted this kind of donation for Haiti, but nobody near me as far as I know.

  • Need name of Japanese TV drama series?

At least 10 years ago there was an excellent Japanese language (with English subtitles) TV series that stretched over a few months about a Japanese family that was in the tofu-making business, struggling in hard economic times. I loved the series and wanted to see if I could rent the videos from Netflix or some place, but I cannot remember the English or Japanese name of the series. Any ideas what it might have been? Thanks.

  • What is the best, safe way to sell an almost new Mac?

I'd like suggestions about what is the best and safe way for me to sell an almost new Macbook. NOTE THAT I AM NOT SELLING IT HERE ON YAHOO ANSWERS! Thanks. I'm just asking where best to list it. If I sell it on ebay with paypal, my understanding is that the buyer can just claim it arrived broken and demand his money back through paypal. If I sell it on craigslist, then I have to find a safe place to meet people and insist they pay cash, which they might be reluctant to do. Plus people there either make weird bogus offers or else want to offer a fraction of what you are asking.

Any other suggestions? It would be great to find another option, but I'm not really familiar with the Mac used marketplace.

FYI, it is < 3 months old and in perfect condition. I just couldn't stand switching from Windows to Mac. So I'd think there would be plenty of demand.

  • Do you know a "no tears" sunscreen, not greasy/oily, preferably as part of a moisturizer?

Since I've already had one basal cell carcinoma removed, I have to use a sunscreen all the time. But I need to find one that doesn't irritate the eyes when a bit of it gets in there. Lately I've been using Aveeno Ultra-Calming Moisturizer with SPF 15, which I like but it does cause a lot of eye irritation if I sweat a bit or if I rub my eyes after touching my face.

So what is a good "no tears" sunscreen that causes no eye irritation and that isn't greasy/oily? I know you might recommend a product for babies, and that's OK, but if there is one that is part of a good daily moisturizer, that would be better. Thanks.

  • What is the quality of non-HD broadcast on HDTV screen compared with non-HDTV screen?

I'm considering buying a 32" HDTV LCD TV. Costco has them online for $499. I don't subscribe to HDTV and don't plan to anytime in the forseeable future. I want to know how the quality of a non-HDTV picture (something from the cable company, but not HDTV) compares on an HDTV screen compared to the same non-HDTV picture on an old-style non-HDTV television. My old television is 27", which is roughly the same as a 32" HDTV LCD screen since the latter is widescreen. I don't want to get the HDTV LCD TV if the picture quality for non-HDTV programming will actually be worse than it is on my old TV. I'm assuming it will be about the same. Thanks.

  • Making my own flour tortillas? Any advice? Also want high fiber tortilla recipe.?

I'm thinking of making my own whole-wheat flour (not corn) tortillas by buying a tortilla press and I wonder if anyone has any experience with how easy this is to do?

Also, I'd like to find a high fiber recipe for homemade flour tortillas. Most are very low in fiber (1-2 grams). I can buy tortillas with 4-8 grams of fiber per 8" tortilla but cannot find a recipe for them. The problem is that they are quite expensive to buy and I assume they are much cheaper to make.

  • I love piroshki, especially the kind with the thick, bread-like outside. Are those deep-fried? Recipes?

Any semi-healthy recipes for piroshki that don't use puff pastry? I want the bread-like outside. Thanks so much.

  • JavaScript help needed, please?

I have a website that used to work many years ago with an ancient version of Internet Exploder. One page of it doesn't work anymore because of some simple JavaScript thing that I don't understand.

If you go to http://www.geocities.com/larrywph and click on the "About Me" link, you will see a frame come up on the left with the first link in the frame saying "Home". The thing pointed to by that link ("babywindow.html") is supposed to come up on the right automatically, but does not until you click on "Home". I don't understand why not.

The JavaScript on that page is this short bit (to be continued):

  • Russian translation of two simple words needed, please?

We were watching the 1970's Russian language movie (with English subtitles) Dersu Uzala, directed by Akira Kurosawa. This is one of my favorite movies, but I'm curious about something that Dersu kept saying. If the subtitles said "very, very bad", then the words he said would always sound like "ochi, ochi hooda" or maybe "ochi, ochi hoota". So can someone identify these as real Russian words and write for me what the correct sounds would be (sounds like what I've put above -- I don't read Cyrillic so it won't do me any good to write something in Cyrillic).

I realize there are probably a million ways in Russian to say something like "very, very bad", but I'm only interested in one that sounds like what Dersu was saying. Thanks so much.

  • Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) Supernova question???

I just bought a bundle containing DDR Supernova and two dance pads. I mainly bought it so my wife and I can use it for exercise together, as in, at the same time. But in flipping through the modes after setting it up, it appears to allow for two people simultaneously only in Game mode. I wanted us to be able to use it together in Workout mode and Tutorial mode. Does anyone know if that is possible? Maybe I'm missing something. It occurred to me that one possibility is that it doesn't sense someone standing on the other pad right now because only I am at home, so it doesn't offer two-person mode, but I kind of doubt that.

  • Need Excel formula for checking data?

I need to be able to enter a column of data in an Excel spreadsheet (dollars and cents), then re-enter the exact same data in another column, having a formula in it that gives an error or beep or something if the values entered in the second column's rows are in any way different from those entered in the first column's rows. The purpose is to make sure there were no typos when the column of numbers was entered. But I know nothing about writing Excel formulas. Any ideas?
