  • Why does my chest turn maroon after doing pushups?

I have been doing pushups for years. I don't know if this just began or if I'm just noticing, but my chest turns a dark maroon, almost blotchy purple, after I've done a set of pushups. Is this because of blood flow to the chest or is the new and something I should see a doctor about?

  • Can you get acute HIV symptoms within a couple of days of a possible exposure?

Or do the first effect begin later, between 2-6 weeks? I don't think there was any exchange of fluids as I used a condom. However, I was also very drunk and am only 95% sure that nothing happened before the condom. I ask because I've had swollen glands and canker sores since 48-72 hours after this event. Now, I'm someone who gets this a lot, so it's not out of the ordinary. But I read that symptoms don't start until between 2-4 or 3-6 weeks. I just wanted to get clarification that the first fourteen days, therefore, would be symptom free.

  • I have a sharp pain in my lower back, but it doesn't feel muscular.?

It comes in in like waves or currents. At first it felt as though the way I sat or stood had no effect on the pain but I've discovered a few ways of sitting that prevent me from feeling the pain. However, sitting normally, lying down or really being in any position in which my back is curved naturally in (think if you touched your hands to your toes), I get these sharp, almost electric current type of waves of pain. This pain is very severe when it hits but it does not feel like something that could be remedied by advil or tylenol. I'm unsure what is causing it. Has anybody experienced this?

  • What educational website should I subscribe to as a first year special ed teacher?

What educational website should I subscribe to as a first year special ed teacher?

I need every day activities, graphic organizers and lesson plan ideas. My students are autistic and would be considered low functioning to very low functioning. They are between the ages of 18-21. One student, however, functions at a 7th grade level. The disparity is alarming but, because of his behavior, he is lumped with the rest.

I would not mind paying 40-50 dollars if it means I have a resource to aid in getting activities for every day.

I taught high school English last year and broke my back with all the lesson planning and grading, often spending 4-6 hours on such work per day. I am hoping to make my life easier as there is no real set curriculum and the most important thing for me is in providing the students with fun and engaging activities that will provide them with useful life skills or basic academic skills.

  • If you have bradycardia, can you get your pulse over 200 when exercising?

Because I can have a resting heart rate between 38-45 but if I'm exercising it can go over 200. If you actually have bradycardia, does it mean that your heart is too weak to pump quickly enough and will continue to pump slowly if pushed during exercise?

  • In the sentence, "Like humans, both are mammals," the subject of the sentence is the word both, correct?

I am asking because I am an English teacher who spent the morning observing a literacy teacher who taught that the subject of the sentence is humans. The word "are" is not linking the the word humans but, rather, the word both. To me this is simple grammar. However, in case I have somehow incorrectly taught this rule in the past, I wanted to come to this board for confirmation and clarification.

  • I would like to trademark both a slogan and a logo.?

I would like to trademark both a slogan and a logo. I have the slogan but am still working on the artwork for the logo. If I trademark the slogan first, can I later add the logo to the trademark. I would like to trademark the slogan first so that I can work with graphic artists on the logo without fearing idea theft.

This relates to designing clothing for a particular type of buyer. Thanks.

  • How should I interpret this pain down my left shoulder blade and down my left arm?

When I do the elliptical trainer, I have been getting pains in my upper back that really feel like they're coming from around my left shoulder blade. The pain extends down my left arm. However, there is no shortness of breath, dizziness or fatigue accompanying the pain. Can this be a heart problem or must the pain in my arm occur with shortness of breath or tightness in my chest?

  • Why do I have all these hives?

For about five days, I had an extremely itchy scalp. Now for the last five days, I wake up with horrible hives up and down my body and swollen extremities. This was all preceded by a cough and I am a non-smoker who doesn't usually cough so I'm trying to figure out if this is a cold or allergies. Also, I had a kid at the school I teach at cut my finger open with a scissors and Had to have a tetanus booster and some antibiotics. Now I feel like I definitely had the cough before this and I think the itchy scalp too. So I can't figure out if it's all related. I'm very nervous. It's particularly at night when I break out in hives. It's basically in the last two hours that my body has broken out. And during the day, they subside for the most part. I will go back to the doctor, but when I went to him on Friday, I had absolutely no hives and my lung were clear so he figured it's just some sort of allergy. I just took some pictures of the hives so hopefully those will help.

  • My dad got stung by a yellowjacket?

Two days later, his ankle is more swollen than when the stinging actually occurred. He says it may have been three yellowjackets total. I'm a bit of a hypochondriac and am wondering if the delayed swelling is anything to be concerned about.

  • Poetry - Alright, I'll try and think of something?

    Politician

    It's got a slimy disposition

    Like an oily transmission

Its promises are steep and deep

The alert see it's just a heap

    Rewards -- only others reap.

It runs and runs til dereliction

Is an answered prayer from benediction

And can defeat reverse the heat

from you who burned us common sheep

    A loss -- I want to keep.

I sort of decided to do this as an exercise. See if I could go to a poetry thread and write a poem.

Don't be too harsh. I'm not a poet.

If there is a glaring problem though, alert me.
