  • Why do some cats pass out when dressed?

I don't dress my cat. But I have seen videos where cats are put into costumes, and many of them either fall over, unable to keep standing with clothes on, or actually pass out until you undress them again. Does anyone know why this happens?

  • Do Christians believe Christ actually died on Friday?

Supposedly, Christ died on a Friday, and rose three days later, but Sunday comes only two days afterwards...

  • Is Saturday Night Live callous, or paying a tribute?

Was anyone else saddened by the SNL Frankenstein skit, with Phil Hartman dead? The actor even said the "Fire bad!" line. Do you think they were being callous, or paying tribute?

If you're too young to remember, Phil Hartman used to have a recurring bit as Frankenstein's monster.

  • Did China plan all this out?

China knows that Chinese culture values boys much more than girls, and has for...quite some time. Is their one-child policy deliberately crafted so that they get a huge force of frustrated young men who can't find wives? Young males in many mammalian species have to fight for mates; our human ancestors were no different, and tribes and peoples have historically attacked others and kept the women. Is China doing this on purpose? Or did the officials who enacted the policy really think that half the couples having a child would be satisfied with a girl?

I'm not trying to be inflammatory, and I am sorry if it reads that way. I'm trying to understand how such a huge lack of foresight is even possible by a government.

  • Underaged adoption? Is it really legal?

How is it legal for a fifteen-year-old to put up a baby for adoption? If she can't sign any kind of contracts, how can she make the decision to permanently give away her child?

Let me make it clear, I am neither pregnant nor a teenager. I have not made any claims about adoption or abortion or raising a child as a child. I'm just trying to understand the legal issues.

  • Anyone else doing Script Frenzy this year?

If you haven't heard of it, you try to write a 100 page script in just the month of April. I'm working on a sci-fi/psychological thriller. Anyone else got a script they're working on?

  • Does consecration wear off cemeteries?

I read somewhere that consecrations wear off cemeteries, over time, but I cannot find any reference to it now. Does anyone have a link or more information of cemeteries becoming desecrated, not through any specific act, but just by the passage of time?

  • Poll: Who's your favorite Looney Tunes character?

BQ: After you tell me yours, ten points for the first to guess my favorite character. One hint: the character did not star in a lot of cartoons; not one of the main guys.

  • Why couldn't that eagle have just taken the One Ring to Mordor himself?

The reasons I've heard are: it makes a better story (which is no excuse; if you have to introduce a crippling plot hole to make it work, you are being lazy) and that the eagles are busy, and only intervene when they want to, because they hate Orcs. Well, there would have been a lot fewer Orcs if they had taken care of that pesky ring weeks earlier. So, is this just lazy storytelling? Are we all willing to overlook it because it's a good story?

  • For those with Celiac-?

Do you find you have pain in the actual stomach, not just the intestines? If you're not sure, the stomach would be the same general location you would feel heartburn in, no lower down.

  • Hey, long-time teachers- will you please help?

Are grammar and spelling really getting so much worse? Or are we only noticing the problem now because of constant texts, tweets, and online blah blah blah. So, have you noticed a decrease in written ability in your students?

BQ: How is it even possible that so much is misspelled? There are spell-checkers on everything (not just complaining about homophones, either).

  • Why do "My Little Ponies" keep getting redesigned?

I miss my ponies from the 80s. Now to get them back, I'd have to spend tons of monies. But the new ones are just awful. I saw one of them that was wearing clear heels. Why must they murder my childhood?

  • What is your opinion on repressed memories?

Sometimes people have claimed to recover memories of past abuse; others only know that the memories are there, hidden, and they may never know the full story. Recovered-memory therapy, though, has gotten a bad name, and with good reason; some (not all) of the therapists were (inadvertently, I'm sure) implanting the memories instead of helping real memories surface. So, my question: is there any way to recover legitimate memories? My entire childhood is a mystery to me; I am hoping to remember any of my formative experiences.

  • Why do people hate Dane Cook so much?

He's funny. The crowds seem to love him. Why do so many people hate him on the internet? If you're going to say he steals jokes, please cite a source. People have yet to cite a source to me that shows any evidence of that.

  • Christians- can you explain this?

When an atheist uses a biblical verse to support their argument, or disprove a theist's argument, the answer is often that the Bible is old, mistranslated, and cannot be understood properly. Why, then, would it make any sense to follow the Bible at all, since it is, in fact, old, mistranslated, and according to many Christians, cannot be understood properly? Are you saying you're just guessing at its meaning? Or are you saying you use it when it is convenient to support whatever it is you're arguing?

  • How do you feel about proposed casting for Dark Tower?

This is for readers of Stephen King's Dark Tower series; there are spoilars.

There was talk of various actresses being considered for the role of Susannah. Some of them are white. Given the importance of the civil rights movement to her character, and also the racism Detta shows towards the others, would her being cast white be a deal-breaker for watching the movie?
