  • What can I use in my Harry Potter candy making toy to make it work?

    My girlfriend absolutely loves the harry potter movies and sweets so I got her the snake bite, and spider candy making toy on ebay as a present. They came completely sealed, unused, and unopened but I didn't think about the fact that these things came out about 15 years ago and have LONG expired. We had fun playing with it amd making the candy and stuff but it was obviously not edible, smelled really bad, and looked moldy.

    Does anyone know of something I can use that would work as a substitute and still work in the toy and not ruin it or anything so we can actually eat the candy after we make it next time? The replacement mixes are also well expired.

  • calculate molar mass using freezing points?

    I am not asking for simply an answer because that will not help me. I would like help UNDERSTANDING this problem rather than just getting an answer. I don't understand how to calculate it when a freezing point is involved.

    A solution of 5.00 g of lauryl alcohol in 0.100kg of benzene freezes at 4.1 Celsius. What is the molar mass of lauryl alcohol? Benzene has a normal freezing point of 5.5 Celsius and a Kf value of 5.12 Celsius/m.

  • determining an unknown solid using freezing point?

    Suppose it is found that the actual molecular mass of your unknown solid is exactly two times larger than that which you determined experimentally. What could you conclude about the nature of your unknown solid and the assumptions you made in your calculations?

  • can someone give me one or two examples of United States utilitarianism?

    I was able to think of eminent domaine. How it supposedly helps because if they build a major highway through a farmers land then some people will be able to have the most direct route but it hurts the farmer because he loses his farm and home. I need at least one more example for my homework and I cant think of one and the book doest provide one.

  • which of the following observations a testable. chemistry?

    I just need to confirm if I am correct about this. I was getting a little confused on whether something is testable or not. I know that makes me sound dumb but for things like saying one person is taller, I would say thats testable but at the same time you wouldnt need to test it because its an obvious thing that can be observed and doesnt need to be tested. Its easy to say that someone is taller than someone else.

    A) When a plant is placed on a window sill it grows faster than when it is placed on a coffee table in the middle of the living room.

    B) The teller at the bank with brown hair and brown eyes is taller than the other tellers.

    C) John caught four fish at the seven o’clock in the morning but didn’t catch any at noon.

    D) Salaries at Smith and Company are based on the number of sales, and Billy makes 3,000 dollars more than Joe.

    E) When Sally eats healthy foods and exercises regularly, her blood pressure is lower than when she does not exercise and eats fatty foods.

    F) The Italian restaurant across the street closes at 9 pm, but the one two blocks away closes at 10 pm.

    G) Bob bought a new blue shirt with a golf club on the back for twenty dollars.

    H) For the past two days the clouds have come out at 3 pm, and it has started raining at 3:15 pm.

    I) George did not sleep at all last night because he was up finishing his paper.

    J) Ice cream melts faster on a warm summer day than on a cold winter day.

  • Need help balancing equations for chemistry.?

    Balance:

    A: C6H12O6(s) + O2(g) --> CO2 (g) + H2O (g)

    B: H20 (l) + P4O10 (s) --> H3PO4 (aq)

    C: PCl5(g) + H2O (l) --> HCl (aq) + H3PO4 (aq)

    complete and balance:

    A: Li(s) + O2(g) -->

    B: Ca(s) + N2(g) -->

    C: Al(s) + S(s) -->

    The way the book explains it I just can't understand it. I get the mol concept and I was able to do all the problems of converting mols to grams and visa versa and atoms to mols and everything else. But this balancing thing is confusing the heck out of me.

  • What is the term for when you know something but if it is hard to teach it to someone you think they are dumb?

    I remember learning in my phsychology class the principle that people take for granted things they know. For example when someone tries to teach something to someone and the person doesnt get it right away they think that the person is ignorant because the person teaching does understand. The person teaching takes for granted the fact that they already know it and forgets how hard it was for them to learn it in the first place. Is there a name for this concept or is it something that just has to be explained?

  • Describe an experiment that would enable you to determine the amount (g) of solids suspended in a 1-L sample?

    Describe an experiment that would enable you to determine the amount (g) of solids suspended in a 1-L sample of sea water.

    I am absolutely lost here. Honestly what I would do to determine the amount of solids suspended in sea water would be to dump out the water and then measure the solids. But I know this answer wont work for a chemistry experiment answer. I know this will have something to do with density, volume, mass and all that but that is where I get lost.

  • What unit would I use for density in this equation?

    What unit would I use for the density in this chemistry equation?

    This is the question: 1.88 Calculate the density of 50.0g of an isopropyl alcohol – water mixture that has a volume of 63.6 mL.

    This is what I think the answer is but I don't know the unit to use for density.

    Density is mass over volume. D=M/V. That means that to answer this you would put the mass (50.0 g) over the volume (63.6). This would make D=50.0g/63.6mL. The solution would then be that D= 0.786163522. This would make the density 0.79.

  • What is the mass of a femur (leg bone) having a volume of 118 cm^3? The density of the bone is 1.8 g/cm^3?

    I would really like to know what the formula is to determine the answer to this question for my chemistry homework. If you would like to give me the answer to go along with it so I can check my work then that would be alright but really I am just looking for guidance on how to do it because if I don't know how to do it on my own then it won't help me in the future or on a test. Thank you.

  • Observed increas in global temps. are caused by elevated levels of carbon dioxide. hypothesis, theory, or law?

    I am having trouble distinguishing between hypothesis, theory, and law. My answer to this question would be that it is a hypothesis because it is something that mny scientists do not agree on and still needs to have studies done on it. It is not a hypothesis because it has been studied and it is a compilation of facts but I don't think it is a law either because it is not accepted as a concrete truth without exceptions. Is this correct or am I still not getting it?

  • how can I find a song that I only know the tune to?

    It's a song that just about every band plays in college football. Not the jaws one, but another one and I only know the tune to it but not what its called or how to look it up. I have tried typing in many things on youtube including looking up lots of fight songs, and looking for college band music, touchdown band, pump-up football band music. I can't find it at all. you won't be able to tell what it is by me doing this but it's like dahhh--dah-dah-dah---dahh-dahhhhh------dahh

  • is thereany way possible to get the songs from my ipod onto a n computer?

    I have about 2,000 songs on my ipod. I really do like and listen to all of them. I have paid for 500 of them and I am slowly and surely working my way toward paying for all of them believe it or not. I have a lot of struggling musician friends so I know how important it is to pay for music rather than download. However I also don't have $1400 to shell out for music all at one time. My old computer crashed and I have a new one but now if I want my music then I have to download it allllll over again. I have heard of there being ways to get the music as files from the ipod and convert them back to music or something like that. Is this true? and if it is, can someone explain to me in SIMPLE terms how to do it. I took four years of TV class, not computer classes.

    Thank you.

  • Your city decides to develop a senior citizens center. Make 10 reccomendations they should consider?

    This is a homework assignment I have. I'm not asking for anyone to actually list 10 reccomendations, just one or two because I have already developed a 4 page essay with 8 reccomendations I made up but I am at a complete roadblock for more of them. So here I am reaching out to the Yahoo community. Give me an idea and I'll see if I can run with it and back it up with facts from the text.

    Thank you.

  • Song in the new Brave movie commercial?

    Whats the song they play in the new Brave commercial that just came out on tv? I am almost positive I've heard it before and I really like it and would like to listen to it/buy it for my ipod. It's not the slow song everyone says it is, it's like a really fast paced, pump-up, kinda song.

  • need examples of movies about living forever, cheating death to live longer, or finding a way to live longer?

    I am doing a small report on lifespan and life expectancy and I seem to recall movies about people trying to figure out how to live for a very long time but fiding out that the body simply can't support that like for example an old brain being put in a new body and not being able to cope, or movies like "In Time" or "Snowwhite and the Huntsman" I know I've seen more movies like this or TV shows but I cant think of them right now. I am trying to put examples of things like this in my report. Any Ideas?

  • Trying to decide on a pair of Oakleys. Does Oakley make padded sunglasses?

    I want to buy a pair of Oakley sunglasses. It's something I've wanted for a few years now. I really like the straight jackets. I also like the tens and the pitbulls. What my actual question is, is does Oakley make sunglasses with padding around the eye frames? I am on a bike a lot and my favorite sunglasses I ever had were a pair of harley davidson glasses with padding around the eyes so I could ride with the face plate on the helmet up and not have any trouble seeing or with wind in my eyes.
