Hello There

I'll be going out of town for three weeks and I'm not sure whether I should leave my A/C on. I'm in Texas, so temps will probably be high in the next 3 weeks...should the A/C be left on? Around what setting? Or should I turn it off altogether? I'm leaning towards off to save money, but I am worried whether that's gonna cause any problems? I only have a couple of plants, no pets.

This is not the Conversations with God books...it's something else. A friend recommended it, and I'd like to see if anyone has input about the book. Thanks!

I've seem so many YQ&A's that say that "the Catholic church invented christianity" or things to that extent. But christians were around before the Catholic church was founded.

Wouldn't it be fair to rephrase questions and answers to specify which christianity they're talking about? Especially if the answer or questions has to do with specific beliefs...

Is this doctrine based on those "Left Behind" movies? What about what the Bible says? Every eye shall see him (Rev. 1:7); the dead in Christ will rise first (1 Thess. 4:16); there will be sound of trumpets and angels (Matt 24:31, 25:31); He'll come back in a cloud (Acts 1:9-11) to name a few.

For everything that God created, He just "said it" and it was created. But man and woman, he made them out of dirt...God could've just "said it" but He didn't...what do you think that shows about God?

Eu moro no U.S. e a moda aqui eh atrasada comparada c/ Europa e Brasil...estarei indo ao Brasil em Setembro e nao quero parecer "americana turista" tipica...alguem pode me dizer o q esta se usando agora? In Brazil, all schools (private or public) will now have to teach sociology starting 5th grade. The standard text book has a section on families that say something to the extent that a family is comprised of "mom and dad and children" or "mom/mom/children" or "dad/dad/children".

What are your thoughts, not just on the spiritual-moral side of it, but also as a political matter? The government has the right to "teach" whatever they feel is right to kids?

BTW, I got this info. from a friend who is a private school teacher in Brazil.

Many atheists often state that theists are ignorant or closed-minded, delusional, not well educated or not intelligent. We know that many many scientists have religious or spiritual backgrounds, so are they too unintelligent and ignorant?

I came across a list of influential and famous scientists (of all sorts) and most of them were/are of some religious or spiritual background. Very few are atheists...so that brought my question to mind.

There's no doubt that these scientist have brought amazing advancements to humanity, so why put them down for having faith or a belief in a Higher Power?

My son just turned 7 yrs old. He is very shy. He won't talk to people when they say hello, or ask his name. If he does, he says it so softly, looking at the floor or another direction - never looking at the person. He's so shy that he doesn't like to go to birthday parties (only to a few of his friends). This summer, I enrolled him in summer day camp for just one week, and today he woke up crying because he did not want to have to go back because he doesn't know anyone and the day is too long. Should I take him to a psychologist? Will he ever grow out of this? I was shy when I was a child, too, but not to this extent (from what I can remember). I grew out of if by the time I was about 14 or so...I need tips on how to make him "come out of his box" and get him to engage with other people please! Thank you!!!

Sou casada com um americano,e moramos no U.S. Existe alguma forma em q meu marido possa se tornar um cidadao brasileiro, mesmo morando fora do Brasil? Sera que vale a pena? Pergunto pq ele tem q pedir visto toda vez q vamos ao Brasil (o visto so tem validade de 90 dias depois de emitido). Ou sera q nem vale a pena passar pela burocracia?

To those who said that I'm saying that atheists are this way...nowhere in my question do I affirm that this is the way people are...the question starts with the word "if". I am not suggesting that we let loose all the criminals, where did you see that in my question? I am not accusing people; I am trying to make a point about evolution, not people! There are good and bad people everywhere...geez, some of you are really quick to throw stones!

MY POINT IS...we are not just animals, we are above and beyond that. There had to be some Higher Intelligence to put a desire inside us to want to care for others, to make us want justice and make us want fairness. Otherwise, we would be like animals…sure, they have some form of organized group living, but in no way do they do things out of rationalization. Only humans have that…this must be so because we do have a purpose here…we didn’t just happen to exist out of nothing!

then why do we keep wasting time with laws that put robbers and murderers in prison - they're just trying to "survive" on what "is" natural instinct. And why do we frown upon people who cheat in big corporations to get ahead - isn't this part of evolution and they're just trying to survive? Why do we bother to help people who are sick, poor, oppressed (politically) and so forth - shouldn't we just fend for our own and be glad that "I" will survive?

Comments especially from those who defend evolution are appreciated!

I've seen a couple of posts talking about these prophecies that Jesus did not fullfil. I'm a Christian, and I'd like to see what they are. Since I am a Christian, I'd like Bible references, please. I don't mind if you put a short explanation, too. Thanks.
