I'm going to work for one of the big 4 accounting firms in Alaska here shortly. While the CPA exams are great to study, I'd rather do other things like build things with my hands, answers ya'lls questions, go golfing, fishing, hiking, camping, etc. Basically, there is a plethora of things I'd rather be doing, but here I am, studying until I die.

  • Is a Vehicle Allowance taxable?

We currently pay a couple employees a vehicle allowance rather than tracking mileage and all that overhead. Is this a taxable event? The closest thing I could find to make it non-taxable is a service agreement between employee and employer for the equipment usage.

  • Has anyone applied weed & feed, grass seed, and insecticide all at once? Outcome?

I have grown impatient in the years to come and trying to replace the pigweeds and bugs with good grass. Anyone know ever apply all three products to your dirt at once?

  • NORMAL? 2004 volvo s60 5 cylinder turbo can't accelerate uphill on freeway?

I'm looking at a 2004 Volvo and it seemed to shift find at slow speeds. When I got it on the freeway, it seemed to studder slightly up hill. Also, at 70 mph uphill, it would accelerate with pedal floored. Tried at 80 mph with same results. Is this normal for volvos?

  • What is the part below the solenoid on a Honda Element? Error P2647?

Car: Honda Element, 2004, VTech Engine

Symptoms: Stumbles on acceleration (notably higher RPMs)

    Otherwise, drives fine.

Check Engine Light with Code: P2647, stuck rocker arm.

I've found a lot of great articles on this error and so I started by removing the solenoid. After removal, a large bolt (1"+) below it was exposed with a hose that was most likely connected. The hose has some plastic in it that appears broken and the bolt also has some plastic on it that appears broken.

Anyone know what the hell this part is or what it does?

    Would this cause the stumbling?

Should I still replace the solenoid?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

(p.s. don't tell me to take it to a mechanic unless it's s joke

  • POLL: Send the iPod with texts to daughter's boyfriend, whom she's cheating on?

Our daughter has a tendency to play her boyfriends like little puppets and slut it up. Her iPod has all the texts, which her boyfriend purchased the ipod. Should we just mail it back to him and let the **** storm happen, or sit back and watch it play out.

  • 1987 ford 7.5L 464 won't start.. symptoms prior?

I bought a 1987 Ford Chasis motorhome (American by Cobra). It fired right up. The previous owners babied it (put little miles on it [about 1,000/yr for ten years], put a newer edelbrock carb, all hoses appear new. engine sparkling clean, etc.)

First sign...It wouldn't fire up like my 1984 econoline (pump the fuel 1-3 times and hold, turn ignition, and instant start). When first purchased, less than a week ago, it fired fairly easily. The lack of firing was a slow build up of about 10-20 times (as that's about how long we've owned it).

Second sign... about a week or so of ownership (6-10 times of turning the engine on), the engine had a sudden loss of fire and backfired. The instant the symptoms occurred, I pulled over and let the engine warm up a bit (don't know if that was the right thing to do????)

Third sign.... right before taking the rig camping, it took starting fluid to get it going. It makes two distinct firing noises. One with fuel, and one (i'm assuming) without. When it has fuel, it sounds like the engine is turning over. Without fuel, kind of like just the starter is moving around. Once starter fluid was in, it started up and I let the engine warm to operating temperatures without a problem.

Final sign... On the third sign, I was up to go camping. I parked it and hitched a ride to work. It drove fine (minus the starting). It didn't backfire or have any other symptoms. I parked it for about 2 days. When I came back, it fired right up drove about 100 feet and died on a slight incline of a hill. Once dead, it started making the starting sign where no fuel was getting to the engine. I found a nice guy to give us some gasoline, but the second the fuel was burned, the engine would stop (i.e., as long as I poured gas down the carb, it would run. Once the fuel ran out, it'd stop).

Now I can't get the engine to start without fuel being dumped down the carb. Any ideas where to start? Tools/spare parts to take (as it's stuck in the woods)?

Other thoughts, the vehicle was stored indoors and was regularly maintained; however, it was not driven buy once-twice per year. The previous owners did most of the work themselves and the engine has a real deep throaty sound when started (or at least last time). The son said they "tuned down" the carburetor for optimal gas mileage and the deep sound.

    .........Please help. Thanks

  • Why does Delta not honor their price guarantee?

I recently purchased a ticket from Delta.com for $200. Shortly thereafter, Priceline had the same flight (EXACTLY THE SAME) for $108.73. I quickly called Delta and the lady assured me Delta would honor the price after filling out the proper form. An hour later, Delta said they couldn't find the price. In fact, the price was back up to $200. I made a pdf of the 108.73 at checkout, but never checked out because of Delta's guarantee.

Has anyone had this issue before?

  • How do you align your driveshaft if you forgot to mark its position?

I told my buddy we need to mark how the driveline is aligned, but he assured me it didn't matter. Well, when he was showing me why we didn't he says, "Oh sh&t"

In any case, now we need to figure out how to realign the driveshaft in my...

    4 x 4 automatic

We were changing the U-joints and he also damaged some of the aluminum. Wish I never used him. He was in WAY to big of a hurry and beat the crap out of everything. Anything I need to look for that he may have screwed up hammering away?

  • 2000 Silverado Vibrates Intermittently While Driving. What's the cause?

The truck vibrates off and on while driving. I can feather (release and press) the gas peddle and this makes it go away for a little while. Also, when it starts to vibrate, if I give it more gas, the problem seems to worsen.

The only known issues are with the fuel gauge. I'm replacing the pump and sensor next weeks, but don't know if this would cause the vibration.

    Truck Specs

    Thanks for any advice.

  • Why has my 1985 Ford Econoline 350hp 5.8L with an automatic transmission lost power?

I purchased this van a year ago and it's always had this problem, but has never bothered me because I'd just drive around town. Now I'm packing my things and driving to Alaska. So, I'd like to fix the loss of power. The van can do 55-65 mph on the flats, but once I get going uphill, it'll only go 35 mph.

    Things changed with no luck...

    - New spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor, and plug wires. (This did fix the stumbling that is started to do though for those whose engine does this)

    - New fuel filter

    - Sprayed choke and carburetor with carb and choke cleaner (DID NOT DISASSEMBLE AND DEEP CLEAN)

    - Gutted the catalytic converted (boosted HP and got rid of black soot coming out of exhaust, but van still lacks power going uphill)

THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE!
