  • How to get rid of a large, broken TV?

I have a large flatscreen TV that doesn't work quite well anymore, something with the tubes in the back has gone wrong, and the TV is supersaturated with a dark blue color when trying to watch anything for any longer than five minutes.

How could I get rid of this TV? Is there any place that I could take it to that I could sell it or its constituent parts?

  • How to start playing the piano?

So I'm 19 years old, and I've always loved the piano and really want to start playing it. I've never had any experience with it, and have only ever played the violin and flute once upon a time.

I don't have a piano, and want to start learning. How do I go about this?

  • Tips on approaching her? (at work)?

So, there's this girl I find really attracting to me. It's odd, and I can't explain, but that's irrelevant.

She works at a Walmart, and I'm not quite sure of her position, she was only helping me out because she just happened to be the nearest store employee I could find. We didn't talk much, but the way she looked into my eyes, I knew I couldn't pass her up.

So I'm determined that the next time I see her, I WILL get her number. But any tips on how to approach her? I'm a bit nervous, but it's nothing hard to overlook.

  • Phi Theta Kappa, scam?

I got a letter in the mail from my community college, inviting me to join the honor society "Phi Theta Kappa". You need a 3.5 gpa to join with 24 hours. That's fine and dandy, but then it asks for $60.

I was wondering if anyone else has anything to comment about this.

  • Do you think a communist government would ever be possible?

First of all, you could never get an entire country to give up their property. The only way would be through revolution or war. Secondly, we would need an uncorrupted government that would have to control the economy. So is it even possible?

Also, a communist government needs to be totalitarian to start off right? After it does manage to start, and gets to the next stage; what would the type of government be?

  • I have the ambition, but I lack the will. What's wrong?

I've set goals for myself, they are quite high; however, they are achievable. Yet the problem is, I simply lack the will to really put myself into working towards this goal. What can I do?

  • How to stop making silly errors.?

When I do math, 95% of my mistakes are just really silly mistakes. Like putting 7+6=12 Instead of 7+6=13, I just keep making these little errors in simple arithmetic or writing down a problem wrong. Just really stupid mistakes. On my last exam, I got an 80%, and out of the 20% I got wrong, only one of those problems was a real mistake. (x+7)^3 but I distributed the 3... The rest were these silly errors. My teacher saw this, but could only give me half credit for the other problems.

Well, how do I stop making these mistakes?

  • How to use ALT codes on a laptop?

Right, I need to use alt codes on my laptop. My laptop does not have a numpad, but also doesn't even have a numlock key, so I can't just hold fn+alt and use MJKLUIO789.

I tried the on screen keyboard too, but it only allows me to do one character alt codes, such as ALT+1, but not ALT+1+2+3 in the same string. (I think it's just because of the new windows 7 OSK)

    So what can I do?

  • I don't understand this?

I have a Nvidea 335m (as it says on the recipt) in my laptop, but when I run dxdiag it shows something else labeled; "Chip Type: Intel (R) HD Graphics (Core i5)"

I probably just don't know what I'm talking about, but did I just get a sheet pulled over my eyes?

  • Why are people so ignorant here?

The questioners here always choose the answers they like to hear over everything else, weather they were reasonable or not.

Honestly the yahoo answers format doesn't suit philosophy well, it requires open discussion.

  • What are some good self teach books for geometry?

Also if you don't mind, I'd like to know some good ones for trignometry and calculus. Any other subjects worth studying before taking higher courses in college?

  • My third and final question?

So if intelligence is having knowledge, and wisdom is using the knowledge. I judge that since wisdom requires intelligence, I reason that wisdom is using both judgment and reason because I have to use knowledge to judge something (correctly, as in empirical truth) and I need to judge something to reason from it. Therefore to properly reason it requires intelligence, wisdom, judgment, and then reason.

Am I correct? Then to "do" proper philosophy, you require all those traits? Since philosophy IS reason; correct?

Isn't there a "blanket" term for someone who posses ALL of these traits then? I don't know weather to classify a person as intelligent, wise, smart, logical, reasonable, when they possess all these traits. Like a philosopher, but you don't call someone a philosopher. Do you?

I don't walk up to a scientist and say "Your a philosopher." when something usually would be said is "Your intelligent" even though intelligent means possessing knowledge, so that person only has "book smarts".
