Phi Theta Kappa, scam?

I got a letter in the mail from my community college, inviting me to join the honor society "Phi Theta Kappa". You need a 3.5 gpa to join with 24 hours. That's fine and dandy, but then it asks for $60.

I was wondering if anyone else has anything to comment about this.

    Phi BETA Kappa is for 4 year schools, while 2 year colleges can offer Phi THETA Kappa.

    My daughter joined...they don't ask for more money (Unless you want a sash to wear when you graduate.
