  • When can I let my ringworm kitty out?

My 14 week old kitten has now had 2 lime sulfur dip baths (once a week - yuck!) and is definitely appearing better. He is also on clotrimazole cream twice a day. My vet was hesitant to give him oral meds due to his age and size. We noticed this after having him for only 4 days and so far none of the other pets (1 cat, 1 dog, 1 roommate's dog) or people (myself, boyfriend, and roommate) have gotten it. The vet said I can start letting the kitty out of the spare bedroom, just to wash hands after playing with him and avoid excessive contact with other pets. Unfortunately it is hard to watch a baby cat at all times in a big house, especially when he just wants to cuddle with everyone and everything.

My main concern now is my older cat. He is 11 years old and is the sweetest fluffy guy ever and I will feel so bad if he gets this. He has slept with me every night for 11 years so if he gets it, me and the boyfriend will probably get it and vice versa. I have been cleaning and doing laundry like a mad woman as well (cleaning the spare room every day) and I just want this to end.

I want to let the kitten out because he cries a lot (stressing out the older cat and making him cry too) and I don't want him to become recluse and shy but I am still worried about this spreading. Any ideas on time frame of lime dips and when this stops becoming so contagious or should I listen to the vet and stop being so paranoid?

  • Can I give my kitten his second lime dip bath sooner than 5-7 days?

How long do I have to wait to give my kitten his second lime dip bath? I gave him his first Friday. The spot on his ear looks better but the one near his eye looks worse. I don't think I got enough solution there because I was scared of getting it into his eyes. I'm supposed to wait 5-7 days according to the vet but I'm wondering if it would be ok to do it sooner? He's 14 weeks old...

  • When can I comfort my sick kitten with ringworm?

My kitten has a cold is on antibiotics and probably has ringworm. The vet gave me a sulfur bath which was an awful experience. Now he's isolated in a room by himself. He's cold and smelly and every time I go in there he just wants to cuddle and be held. I feel awful and sick and don't know what to do. I'm worried about my older cat and dog and self getting it as well. I just want to make him feel better, what can I do?

My kitten had a cold and now he is filthy.?

I got my kitten from a rescue last week. He had a cold when I brought him home (eye and nose discharge, sleepy, sneezing/wheezing, some coughing). The rescue gave me antibiotics which he is still on. Two days at my house and he's now a little fluffy ball of energy and he's always hungry (both good signs) however he's still wheezing slightly and coughs at times. The eye and nose discharge is gone but in the place is little brown stains and specs of dirt. Theres also yellow and light brown wax in his ears. I have tried to clean all but he fights me and it doesn't come off so easy. Yesterday it took me and my husband to hold him and cut his nails because in addition to scratching us, he had scratched himself so badly he had started to bleed! I initially thought the ear wax was mites but it's not getting any worse and it's not very dark. He looks so dirty though! Could this be just dried debris from the cold? Could it be a secondary infection of some sort? He did not always look dirty. How can I clean him?

  • How can I get over the pain of being cheated on?

Last weekend I was really drunk and embarrassed my boyfriend of a year at his job (a bar) and he asked my friends to take me home. I was angry at this and drunkenly texted him not to come home (we live together). He texted me after asking if I was serious to which I said "have a good night" the last thing I heard from him was "I'm so hurt". The next day he called me and said he needed a couple nights at his parents, which hurt me. When he came home he told me I need to work on my drinking and made me feel awful for telling him not to come home and embarrassing him at work. I begged for his forgiveness for hours. That next morning I looked at his cell phone and he had told his friend that he got a ******** from some random girl at a party the night before. I was livid and immediately confronted him. He admitted it happened, told me it was because I told him not to come home and he had never been so angry before. He said he drank a bottle of vodka and this girl through herself at him to which he said he would not cheat on his girlfriend. He said the next thing he knew she was giving him a BJ and apparently he wasn't even hard.

He has vowed to spend the rest of his life making it up to me and regaining my trust. He offered to do counseling (although I told him I need to go alone) and to even quit his job to spend more time with me (obviously I told him not to).

I am trying to forgive him. I am trying to believe him. But the pain of being lied to and asked for space when HE did something wrong is still there. I love him and I know he loves me and we both want this to work but I'm scared. I am constantly in pain over this. I can't eat, I can't sleep. I know I need to talk to a therapist and time heals all and bla bla bla but right now it feels like my world is ending.

I can't talk to my friends because they will forever hate him and judge me for staying with him. I can't talk to him because he is constantly working for the next week. I don't know if I will ever trust him again. I don't know if he's lying about the extent of what happened.

I want to believe he is a good man that made a terrible mistake by putting himself in a bad situation, but even if that's the case it still is killing me.

Please help. What do I do now? How do I make this pain go away on my own?

  • Dog's leg sprained?

    Dog's leg sprained?

My 5 year old Rottie started limping a week from last Friday when I came home from work. She won't put her full weight on her back left paw but doesn't show any signs of swelling or obvious pain. Unfortunately I made the call of waiting until that next Monday to go to the vet and then Hurricane Sandy hit. So my entire house, town, vet, job, etc. are left powerless, dark, cold, and closed. We have been staying with family nearby for the past week and while some days she barely limps, she gets excited about stuff and will try to run and play and then the limping comes back. Since I can't get to the vet until (who knows when) the power comes back I haven't been able to take her. I'm just wondering if this sounds like something that's just a sprain or something more serious? Thanks for the help.

  • How do you tell someone you're not a "kid-person" without sounding horrible?

It's not that I HATE kids, per-se, I just have no patience for them. I'm sure when I have my own I will love them unconditionally, but I'm not ready for that. In the meantime I absolutely can't STAND when people talk about their kids ALL the time.

My ex had a son and I handled the situation badly and came off sounding like a jerk. My new guy watches his niece on a regular basis. He loves the little girl and it's really cute and all but there are only so many videos and pictures and time I can spend here before I get annoyed.

How do I nicely tell him I'm not really a kid-person without sounding like a complete *****?

  • Why doesn't my log in info work on Yahoo Shine or Yahoo News?

I log into my Yahoo account on the homepage to post comments on articles, but for whatever reason, no matter what computer I am on, Shine and News will not let me log in. It becomes a vicious cycle of asking me to log in, I re-type my info, and then it brings me back to the log in page. However, every other Yahoo page lets me sign in (or keeps me signed in) without an issue. What gives?

  • When Is West of Memphis Going to Be in Theaters?

I'm an avid WM3 supporter and I know the film West of Memphis is debuting at Sundance on January 20, 2012. I was just wondering if anyone knows when it is going to be in local theaters?

Side note- I live in a busy NYC suburb so I know most independent films can be viewed around here.

  • Pill + No Protection = Preggo?

I've been on the pill for almost 5 years. Every once in a while I forget and have to double up but this is rare. I recently had unprotected sex where the guy "pulled out". Well I know there's a very small chance to get pregnant with the pull and pray method as well as being on the pill... but both together seem very unlikely to me.

Well surprise, surprise I didnt get my period last week as I was supposed to. However; having been on the pill for so long I frequently skip periods all together.

I was with my ex for 3 years and had unprotected pill sex all the time and never got preggo.. I guess I'm just worried now because this was something stupid and not someone I'm in a relationship with.

So I am probably not preggers, right?

  • How Much Does Colored Hair Fade After Washing?

I re-dye my hair red once a month because it keeps fading back to my summer blonde. Yesterday I dyed and somehow missed a spot. So everything is red except for one big chunk that is still blonde :-(

Today I went and re-bought the same box and I am going to re-dye it again tonight. Unfortunately the main reason I did it yesterday was because I have a wedding to go to Saturday that I am leaving for in the morning. I wanted to give my hair 48 hours to set as I normally do. Now I will have to wash Saturday morning and at most it will only be around 36 hours.

How much is my red really going to fade? Does the fact that most of it was done yesterday help?

  • Natural Mange Remedies?

I asked this last night and only Trolls answered :(

My dog has a lowered immune system due to a bad batch of worms that she has since passed (her poo came back as negative on Monday). This spot developed right after she started antibiotics for a secondary infection on her paw before I knew it was coming from the worms. Antibiotics apparently lower the immune system even more. Because of this low immune system, my 4 year old dog has now developed (what I think is) puppy mange on her face.

She has been to 1 vet twice and both times she wasn't too concerned with this bald spot. The first time she told me it was ringworm and gave me medication that made it spread and burned her. The second time she told me allergies. There is a possibility it might be allergies, but I switched her food to an all natural holistic diet the other day, started giving her immunity defense vitamins, and have been rubbing olive oil mixed with a tiny bit of lavender and neem oil (I heard this is good for demodex mange- I tried tea tree oil to no avail). It has made the spot go from being cracked, scabbed, and chaffed to being soft and smooth, and it no longer itches her as much. But it continues to slowly grow.

I am running out of money and options. I have already spent more than $1000 this month alone on vet and natural dog products. I had to cancel an appointment with a low-income monthly payment vet because she told me mange testing was $150 (plus $100 office visit) and usually came back with a false negative anyway.

My woman/mother's intuition tells me its localized demodectic mange because of her low immune system and I need to just stick with the vitamins and new food and oils and it will eventually go away. Does anyone else think it looks like something else or than I am right?

This is the ONLY spot on her. The rest of her coat looks thick, shiny, and awesome.

I should also note I live with 2 other people, 2 other dogs, and 2 other cats. My dog comes everywhere with me and everyone pets and plays with her. We also have lots of friends over who bring their dogs too. Not one of the people or animals that has come in contact with her in the past month has any similar symptoms (including myself who shares EVERYTHING with her) so I am positive it is nothing contagious.

  • Which dog cake is healthier?

I'm making my girl a b-day cake for her 4th birthday as I do every year, but this year I wanted to switch it up a bit. One recipe I found is a sweet potato cake that calls for 1/2 cup of maple syrup (the one I usually make for her has honey, peanut butter & carrots) and the other one I was looking at asks for a 1/2 cup of corn oil (?), plain yogurt and strained chicken baby food. She's not going to be eating it alone, I'm having friends bring their dogs over.. but should I try one of these new ones or am I safer sticking with the plain one?

  • how do i put a lock on a bedroom door outside without changing the knob?

I want to lock my bedroom door so that my roommates friends cannot go into my room. I don't know all of them and my room is next to the bathroom. Problem is, our landlord said we CAN install professional locks, however since the house is very old and the doorknobs are antiques, he said we cannot remove them. He is an awesome landlord and says yes to pretty much everything, so I would rather not step on his toes on this one. Does anyone have any good ideas? I was thinking a padlock?

  • How to create cleavage in a backless, low cut, halter dress?

I am wearing a white satin dress on New Years that has a low back, low front, and halter straps. I am already slightly flat chested (34B) and this dress makes it even worse. I clearly cant wear a bra with it and the sticky chicken cutlet things just make them bigger but dont create cleavage. I want to somehow lift and slightly push together. Any ideas?

What is wrong with me?

If I am a 40hrs a week salary employee and I work an event lasting 6 hours (from 5-11pm when I work 9am-5pm) am I supposed to get paid time and a half? Or at least get to comp those 6 hours from the next working day? I live in NJ and I feel like there has to be some kind of law against working a 46 hour week with absolutely no reimbursement..

  • Is anyone else super annoyed with dog breed stereotypes?

I have a 2 and a half year old rottie and she is the sweetest dog is the world. recently a neighbor with some angry little white thing attacked and bit her and my dog ran away shaking and hid under my legs. now the neighbor who walks her stupid angry unsocialized dog all the time makes it a point to tell me to get my dog away from hers (when i should be the one saying that to her!)

it really grinds my gears that people just assume rottie's and even pitbulls are angry aggressive dogs naturally and that its not the training. if people suck at training and socializing their dogs it doesnt matter what kind of dog it is or what size its going to be bad (like a kid) but if you love the dog and treat it right and socialize it wil be a sweetie. get a grip people.
