Grandfather has Alzheimer's?
Hello, I've discovered that my grandfather has many symptoms of Alzheimers, such as forgetting names of family members, getting confused about directions, etc. My grandparents are in China, and I believe they don't really have a diagnosis of this. He can still eat and sleep, but I'm worried, angry, but most of all, sad; I cried after I heard this, but how should I react to this? I now know better than to just take life for granted...I'm 14 years old, turning 15 in a day....
3 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoHow to reinstall Drivers?
Hello, I recently installed Windows XP because my Vista's edition's internet wasn't working. However, Now I notice that 6 drivers aren't working on the XP, and they're pretty much essential (graphics card, sound device/speakers, etc.) When I open the device manager, the icon is a question mark, and when i try to reinstall the driver, it says it cannot locate a suitable driver. I don't have the Vista OS anymore, since XP wiped it out. How do I fix this?
3 AnswersOther - Hardware1 decade agoShould I worry? PSAT?
I have two questions:
In 8th grade, I got 660 CR, 610 WR, 80 M=2070, on SAT.
1. I got a 210 PSAT score. 67 CR, 80 M, 63 WR. Barely any improvement, IMO. Should I study, even a little, or will things just go smoothly? Studying for PSAT (SAT) maybe is beneficial for my future, since Junior+Soph years I guess you don't have much time? I mean, the day before the test, I played a game of chess; I didn't take a practice test, since I treat these things as games.
2. Does NMS care about your PSAT score, even if you already qualified? (e.g. 220 vs 230 or 240)
3. Do colleges look at anything but Junior scores? (PSAT).
4. My goal is 230+ or 2300+; any good books?
2 AnswersStandards & Testing1 decade agoFreshman to Junior PSAT?
Hi, I'm a freshman, and I got my PSAT scores back; it was 210. Surely, it's somewhat close to NMSQ, but I want to make a guarentee, not wish the best of luck. Should I study for this kind of thing, or just wait, since I'm going to get the 'skills' from my classes anyways? One of my peers got 239, which is pretty intimidating, considering that rasining CR and WR isn't easy. My: CR:67 WR:63 Math:80.
1 AnswerStandards & Testing1 decade agoWeird question, but I need my fear back.?
I just started High school, and so far it hasn't been great. Everytime I get a lackluster performance (A-) on something, I used to be afraid of that grade and try everything to change. Now, when I get that same kind of grade, I don't feel anything. This has been going on for 3 weeks. I need to feel afraid, to get that motivation and adrenaline kick...How do I do this?
3 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoCan't focus? Reptitive thoughts?
Hi, So I'm a freshman in high school; I've been noticing lately that i can't focus on my school work; everytime I try to focus, a random song pops up, or a reptitive thought just pops up. Maybe this is just psychological, since I just moved 2 weeks ago, and i'm starting into a new high school, or maybe there's even something worse.
1 AnswerPsychology1 decade agoGain myself back? Can't focus?
Hi, i've just had a "vacation" where I was forced to do everything that's the opposite of me. I had to follow what my cousin always does, which is being impulsive and being distracted. Now I'm back at school, and I can't concentrate. My thoughts feel so impulsive. I used to play chess, and focusing and keeping the game going was second hand nature to me, but now when I study or play chess, impulsive thoughts, such as thoughts about TV shows, music, just appear out of nowhere. I'm very disappointed in this mindset. How do I get out of it? Everytime I remind myself of my old personality, I try being him, but it fails because I doubt these thoughts.
3 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoGoing to new high school?
Hi, I just moved and I'm starting my freshman year. However, I don't feel like the person i was before. Before, I always wanted to stay at the top and do everything at the beginning. I was so enthusiastic about everything. I felt I had a fire inside me. Everyone regarded me as being good at math and science. I joked around alot, but still kept serious when it was down to schoolwork. Now, when i came here, I feel like I want to just sleep and do nothing...I still do math, but I've gotten lazier. I'm also getting more and more distracted. It's probably because I lost my reputation, and now I have to build up from the beginning. Any advice on how to break this depression/whatever it is?
3 AnswersPrimary & Secondary Education1 decade agoGrammar Question involving "when"?
On SAT writing question, it had:
Rick, Marty and Steve were driving nonstop from New York to Chicago [when, falling asleep at the wheel, he fell asleep].
Obviously, this had a misplace pronoun. The correct answer was changing it to "when Rick drove the car off the road after falling asleep at the wheel". However, my question is that----
-----
Since you've used "when", how can you have them driving at the same time that someone drove off the car? Is it just the use of "when" that gets to me?
If so, how would you use the word "when"?
Best answer 10 points.

2 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoSurvey question testing probability?
Hi, this isn't really a serious question; I'm surveying people here, so Here is the question.
I have 1000 doors, but only 1 door contains a million dollars (which you want, of course). You only have one choice. However, I won't open that door for you just yet. I show you 998 other incorrect doors, and so there are two doors remaining: the one you just picked, and another door. Now is your final decision: you can stay with that door or switch. Which choice has the highest probability of being correct?
2 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoHow to deal with stress/problems?
I used to be a hardcore person( i.e. Always thinking I'm not good enough, trying to improve alot, etc. These thoughts made me the best person I could ever be). However, now I'm just excusing myself whenever I make a mistake, and ignoring my daily problems, and always thinking there's something wrong with me. I lose alot of focus and I give in to a strange feeling of anxiety/stress, and I actually quit when I find a problem. I think this makes me tired, and I don't do well with my studying. Is there something wrong with me psychologically? If there is, tell me how I can stop these problems?
2 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoGrammar question? "That"?
"The boss required that everyone work on his/her homework early."
I don't understand why it's not "works", since everyone is singular. Is it just a grammar rule, when you have "that" and a past tense verb ---so that the subordinate clause has a plural verb? Or is this even wrong?
2 AnswersHomework Help1 decade ago2030 SAT for 8th grader?
Hey, so I just finished 8th grade. So After I took the online one in December, I got 1800. Now after I took the official in June, I got 2030. (I completely failed the math section=760). Was this good progress, 200 points=6 months, or was this very slow? My 9th grade friend said he got a 2300, which makes me look like I suck.
2 AnswersStandards & Testing1 decade agoHigh schools near Mira Mesa?
Hi, so I'm going to be moving to the Mira Mesa Area. I'm wondering if there are any high schools there or near the place (i.e. good for driving). Please list the high schools near the area (btw, are there any schools good at science, math etc?). Also, are there any schools in the top 100s?
Thanks in advance =)
