  • Which name do you prefer?

    Evie or Rosie?

I am aware they are both 'nickname' names, but I am quite partial to these sort of names for girls... Partner likes both, Grandma likes them too.

I am leaning more towards Rosie atm, because her name would be Rosie Catherine and Catherine is my Grandma's middle name (+her grandmother's name!), while Rosemary is my partner's Grandmother's name, so it would honour both.

Also, my eldest brother died befor I was born and his name was Ross, so Rose/Rosie also has similar lettering.

But any comments on Evie Catherine and Rosie Catherine?

PS - We don't actully know the gender yet, we are trying to get names we like for both beforehand.

  • Will my bad past make it more likely that Social Services will try to take my baby away from me?

When I was a child SS were involved with me. I hated them. Nearly all my family distrusts them.

I am 19 and my partner in 23. We met in a rehab/homeless facility.

In the past he has smoked weed, done cocaine and MDMA.

In my past I was on weed, cocaine, MDMA, and ketamine, as well as having experimented with magic mushrooms and LSD.

However, the only drug we have done since we started living independently is weed... Which we have both given up since I became pregnant.

He has a history of depression and has self-harmed before.

I am a recovered anorexic who also used to self-harm.

I've currently been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and I am in therapy for this - I will still be in therapy when the baby is born.

At age 17 I was sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

We live in a studio flat that is barely big enough for us, let alone a baby... So we are currently searching for a one-bedroom property.

My concern is that even though we are not on drugs anymore, and I am receiving help for my BPD, that Social Services will use our (mainly mine) past against us and deem us unfit parents. There is so much prejudice against BPD in the professional services anyway.

  • Eva or Evie?

I mentioned the names Eva/Evie today to my Grandmother and she loves Evie way more than Eva. I prefer Evie too but always thought it was too nicknamey? But then I don't really think there's much difference between Evie and Sophie...

    WDYT?

  • What does CaF entail?

So, I went to my first antenatal appointment today with my partner.

I am 19 and my partner is 23. My mother has mental health issues and so do I, although most of this is in my past. However, she then asked me if Social Services were/had ever been involved with me. I admitted that they were when I was a young child, although she didn't proceed to ask why. My mother was actually unable to care for me so there was a custody battle and eventually my grandparents gains full custody of me.

After I mentioned past SS involvement, she said she wod do a CAF referral, and would I be OK with that? I said yes, because I assumed it could only be a good thing.

Could anyone give me any information or personal experience with CAF and what it involves?

I really really really do not like it when outside agencies start interfering, so if this is going to somehow lead to SS becoming involved in mine and my child's life again...

  • Name this girl?

She has German, Welsh, and Portugese heritage.

    Brown hair and brown eyes.

Not very tall, but she's not short either.

    Skinny.

She enjoys reading, writing, wildlife, and singing.

She is determined and stubborn, but she has the most beautiful laugh that makes everyone smile. She knows exactly what to say to make light of a situation - very tuned in with other people's emotions. She is quite temperamental as she is quick to anger, but this is just because she is very passionate.

  • Eva or Elodie?

I'm leaning towards Elodie as it is less popular in England than Eva.

    Eva - "Life"

    Elodie - "Foreign Riches"

Eva would probably get called Evie sometimes and Elodie would probably get called Elle/Ellie sometimes.

  • WDYT of the name Luna Paige Catherine?

Ignore the fact that there are 2 middles - they are both honouring and she wouldn't be going by the middles anyway, only on official documents and that.

But overall, how does the name sound?

It has to be Paige Catherine, not Catherine Paige, because of the Luna-c initials problems (Lunacy)!!

  • Pregnancy and College - Quit/continue?

So, I'm now 19 and pregnant - by the time my baby would be born I would be 20.

I have lived away from home for 3 years and I am in a strong relationship - we live together. The father is 23.

The thing is, in September I am meant to be completing my final year at college for my A-Levels. I'd be birthing Jan/Feb and my exams would be May/June.

Is this doable?! Should I quit? I really don't want to. I'd love to be able to try to do my college work while pregnant... Even if it means I get worse grades than usual. My college is only a 5min walk away so I wouldn't be going through any hassle attending...

    Thoughts?

  • Smoking during 1st trimester?

I just found out today that I am pregnant. I've never had regular periods and I'm not sure when my last missed period should of been. I have been experiencing breast tenderness, constant nausea, vomiting, and increased hunger. Based on that alone the woman at the Clinic thinks I must be around 6-8 weeks. I have a GP appointment on Monday and will also be buying a good pregnancy week indicator just to see if the estimate is right.

Basically, I've always smoked weed, but I don't drink or smoke cigarettes. I have smoked weed every day without knowing I was pregnant. Of course I am quitting straight away!! But could this have any negative implications for the baby at this point? I feel a bit worried. Out of the approximate 6-8 weeks, there was only one week (when I was on holiday) where I didn't smoke at all.

    Thanks!

  • What is the difference between Religion and Mythology?

People used to believe in Goddess of Fertility, or God of Thunder etc etc etc.

Mainly because they didn't have the ability to explain such phenomena yet. Even so, in modern times these beliefs are considered to be Mythology. Why is modern religion treated so differently? Do you not think that in years to come Christianity, Hinduism, and Islam ect may also come to be viewed as mere Mythology?

  • Is wishing your mother dead ever justifiable?

Yeah, a mother births you, but sometimes that's literally the only good thing they do. Personally, I had my Grandma bring me up instead. I would dance on my mum's grave.
