  • How do I get a DVD out of the player.. it will not function!?

Ok, I will admit that this was an illegal DVD/copy bought in ShangHai. I put it into a US DVD player and now the player is stuck. It will turn on and spin the DVD, but will not play it and will NOT spit it out! I took off the cover/top of the player but the DVD was still under something that seemed immobile. I have unplugged it and all of that... any ideas?

I have just won tickets to NYC and to the "red carpet walk for the 'August Rush' film Premiere". What should I wear to this and what should I expect? I have been to NYC before but never something like this. Also, package includes 2 nights at the Paramount Hotel. Any advice? I still do not know where this premiere is taking place, but it is on sunday, november 11th.

  • Anyone been to Dylan's Candy Bar in Orlando?

There are 2 in Orlando, so either one is fine. How does it compare to the original in NYC? I am landing in Orlando on my daughter's 7th birthday and wanted to take her there as a surprise, but not if it is a waste of time. I'd rather wait for NYC someday if the others do not compare.

  • Why do the foreigners in Seoul not seem to know about Korean B-Boys?

Tonight was one of many B-Boy shows I have seen in Seoul, and the 2nd time I have seen the Extreme Crew in Hongdae do the "Ballerina Who Loved A B-Boy" show, and I NEVER see foreigners in the audience. (you do not need to know Korean to enjoy their shows) Many of my friends have never heard of them and they live in the same neighborhood as the show. Korea consistently has one of the top 3 B-Boy teams in the world. Is it that most Koreans do not know about B-Boys as well? or just us? They must be the best kept secret from the tourists. why?

  • Onigiri..Samgak Kimbap..? Who invented the rice ball?

Now that I have lived in Japan and Korea, I am wondering who invented the rice triangle/ball. Bonbu got me wondering with his onigiri link. It doesn't really claim it as Japanese. The Koreans claim it as theirs, originally. It is called Samgak Kimbap in Korea. What is it in China? I have seen them in Hawaii.. that must be from the Japanese tourism. What do we call itin Hawaii I wonder? Onigiri or rice ball?

  • Traveling to Busan with a child? ideas?

I live in Seoul, (American), and have visited Busan with friends before, but not with my 6-year old daughter. Does anyone have any ideas? I was thinking aquarium, (is it a good one? She has been to the ShangHai and Melbourne aquariums), and maybe a kid's theatre? We are staying at the Westin Busan, so the beach is a no-brainer if the weather is good. I am going July 15th - 18th.

  • Favorite restaurants in ShangHai?

I ate at 3M on the Bund and LOVED it. I prefer eclectic food, leaning towards vegetarian. (roasted veggies, couscous, hummus, etc)

Does anyone have suggestions for lunch or dinner, upscale or casual?

  • Shopping for pearls in ShangHai.. best deal/highest quality?

I am very familiar with ShangHai, but I have very little interest in pearls and have never shopped for them here. Now, I need to shop for someone else.

Does anyone know where the best deals can be found? I am familiar with the "pearl market", but I am looking for someone with a specific jeweler to recommend.

I know NOTHING about pearls, so I am not even sure what I should expect, although I will research US prices online.

    Thanks!

  • Where can I buy ice skates in Yokohama or Tokyo?

I need something beyond the beginner skate found at Sports Authority. I need to buy larger boots and have it attached to the blades I already have. In the states, they "heat mold" the boot around the foot for a better fit. So I need a skate store. Does anyone have a lead? I would really appreciate it. Thank You!

  • Are there scrapbooking stores in Tokyo or Yokohama?

I live in Korea and will briefly be in Tokyo and Yokohama this month. I am looking for scrapbooking supplies such as decorated pages, stickers and die-cuts. This is not a known hobby in Seoul but I am hoping that Japan has caught on since I was there 10 years ago. I know about the international order sites. I am just looking to peruse in an actual store.
