Why do the foreigners in Seoul not seem to know about Korean B-Boys?

Tonight was one of many B-Boy shows I have seen in Seoul, and the 2nd time I have seen the Extreme Crew in Hongdae do the "Ballerina Who Loved A B-Boy" show, and I NEVER see foreigners in the audience. (you do not need to know Korean to enjoy their shows) Many of my friends have never heard of them and they live in the same neighborhood as the show. Korea consistently has one of the top 3 B-Boy teams in the world. Is it that most Koreans do not know about B-Boys as well? or just us? They must be the best kept secret from the tourists. why?

Hello Dawn. I believe maybe it's more of the younger generation here in the US that is into break dancing. Many of them probably don't get a chance to visit Korea. Back in my high school days, break dancing was really big here in San Diego. I'm in my 30s now and I'm not sure break dancing is as big as it was back then. Actually I know how to break a little myself. I've seen a group called the Gamblers on Youtube and they did moves I've never seen before. These guys are the best I've ever seen. They were even shown battling (dancing against) American breakers. They won. I've actually seen the commercial for "Ballerina Who Loved A B-Boy" it seems like an interesting show. I would have loved to watch it but my time in Korea was a little too short.

I saw some a B-boy show in Walmi Do near Incheon. Didn't know they were called B-boy shows. Just thought they were break dancers.

Break Dancing is not a main stream activity in the US. I've seen it on TV in the US but until now the only time I have seen it live was in Walmi Do. If I knew that there was a scheduled B-boy show I probably wouldn't go out of my way to attend anyway. They are interesting to see but if I never saw a show again it would not be a loss.

I've never heard of Korean B-Boys. Lots of cultural phenomenons in one country will be unheard of in others. Besides, tourists usually stick to well-known, historical sites and events. Plus, and I don't mean to sound rude, but Korean culture, whether new or old, is probably not high on the list of foreign tourist attractions. In fact, I don't know anyone who isn't Korean who wants to visit Korea.
