  • Why do people give their babies juice?

I see people alllll the time giving babies juice. Why? Juice, even 100% juice, has very little nutritional value and loads of natural sugars. Even natural sugar is still sugar. Why do people think that babies need it? I am being totally curious here not condescending or insulting at all. I gave my first 2 babies juice, mainly cause everyone did. This time around my almost 11 mth old has only ever tasted breastmilk and water. I just don't see the point.

  • My daughter sprayed my cat with Green Works All Purpose Cleaner?

He's got a fair amount in his fur. I rinsed him as best as I could, but not surprisingly he did not want to be in the tub getting wet, and he still smells like it. Green Works is supposed to be safe for cats, but I doubt they mean when it's applied to them. How safe is Green Works? How dangerous it is for my cat to have been sprayed with it?

  • How do you co-sleep with an older baby?

I've always co-slept with my newborns to ease night feeding. However, by around 3 mths, I move them to their own beds. My 7 mth old is going through a growth spurt and is night waking again. I'm so tired when I feed her, I'd love to just crawl back into bed with her and let her nurse while I sleep and get up with her in the morning. However, she is crawling and climbing (so a pillow barricade is out) and I am terrified of her crawling to the edge of the bed and falling (this is something she tries to do during the day too). I know I can just stay up for 10 mins and put her back in her crib, but I also know that there are plenty of parents who co-sleep still once their kids are mobile.

  • Can I add baby cereal to baby food to thicken?

I picked this up from another question. My daughter loves baby cereal which I make quite thick, but isn't fond of baby food. I think this is because it's too thin. Is it safe to add rice cereal flakes to commercial baby food to thicken it? I can't imagine it not being safe, but just want to be sure.

  • How can I get my 7 yr old to listen to her step-father?

My husband has been living with us for almost 2 yrs. My daughter adores him. She has been overheard telling a cousin "I have a step-daddy and that's better than just a daddy". She sees her father once or twice a month for a few hours and rarely talks about him unless asked and rarely "sighs" about missing Daddy so I don't suspect this to be a "you're not my real daddy/you can't replace him" type of deal. *For that matter, she never really listened to her father either* Now, DH will ask her to do something, say put away her toys, she will fight him tooth and nail yet if I ask her to do the same, most often she will do it the first time she's asked. I have told her that the behaviour disappoints me and hurts DH's feelings (which makes her sad and say she doesn't want to hurt him) but it doesn't stop. And I don't feel she's just testing him because she's known him since she was 2. We do have a new baby, but this started before I even got pregnant. Any idea how to stop this? DH is very frustrated with this and I am too.
