Ok, I'm in my thrid year undergrad at a community college. I applied and got accepted to a university this spring of 13. my community college gpa for 2 and a half semester were less than stellar. Yes, I reailzed I took a semester more than I needed at a community college. If I do superb in a unversity, say a 3.5+, how would graduate/medical/law schools respond to that?

At a construction site a pallet of bricks is to be suspended by attaching a rope to it and connecting the other end to a couple of heavy crates on the roof of a building. The rope pulls horizontally on the lower crate, and the coefficient of satic friction between the lower crate an the roof is 0.666. The crates on the roof weigh 150lbs and it is on top of a 250 lb crate.
What is the weight of the heaviest pallet of bricks that can be supported this way, and what is the friction forse on the upper crate under these conditions.

a 5kg block resting on a horizontal surface is attached to a 10kg block that hangs freely by a cord passing over a frictionless pulley. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the block and the horizontal surface is 0.3. find the acceleration of the block and the tension in the cord.
what sort of problem is this and can you show me step by step on solving this problem. thanks

A 10 kg block is pushed 25 m up an inclined plane that makes an angle of 35 with the horizontal by a constant force of 120N acting parallel to the plane. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the block and the plane is 0.25.
a) how much work is done by the 120N force?
b) what is the increase in the potential energy of the block?
c) what is the work done against friction?
d) what is the increase in the kinetic energy of the block?
e) what is the velocity of the block at the top of the incline?

A loaded elevator with very worn cables has a total mass of 3000 kg, and the cables can withstand a maximum total tension of 50,000 N . (a) what is the maximum upward acceleration for the elevator if the cables aree not to break? (b) what must the tension be if the elevator has an upward acceleration of 2.5 m/s^-2 (c) what is the answer to part (a) if the elevator is taken to another planet where g=4.50 m/s^-2 (d) what is the apparent weight of a 600 N person in the elevator when the elevator is accelerating upward at 4 m/s^-2?

A 15 g bullet is fired horizontally into a block of wood with mass of 2.5kg and embedded in the block. Initially the block of wood hangs vertically and the impact causes the block to swing so that its center of mass raises 15 cm. Find velocity of bullet just before impact.
2)Prove that the fractional loss in kinetic energy for the ball-pendulum system is given by equation n=1-m/m+M

I'm currently in the general studies department (liberal arts and science) at a 4 year commuter school. I'll be transferring in the spring term of 13'. I'll be in my last semester of my junior year going in as a undeclared major. I realize at this point in my life ,being a upper classman, I should be able to find an interest. However, that isn't the case, and I been so lost. I took an art class, math, literature, physics, chem, etc etc yet nothing. I may have to spend an extra or two year. is this normal? what should I do?
