  • What happened in November 2008 that caused the massive rise of militias in the US?

I'm not sure why so many people would suddenly join them, can you please enlighten me.

  • With the standing ovation Obama recieved tonight in St. Louis?

Will Cons still continue to labor under the delusion that people don't like him?

Will they ever come to accept the obvious truth that most people like him and what he is doing for this country?

  • What do you think of this quote?

It came from a forum I frequent that has some really good political discussions.

"Even though it makes my skin crawl, there is something oddly satisfying about watching the neocons continue to pursue their agenda of hate and fearmongering as the party collapses around them. They were soundly beaten in the last election, and their prospects are even more dim moving forward. Despite their continued attempts to drive a wedge into the American people, they're losing ground in nearly every one of their ideological battlefields.

What you're seeing and hearing now is a very motivated, vocal minority grasping for relevance. Obama and his administration are working diligently to right the wrongs of Bush and his henchmen. Everywhere you look, this place is starting to look a little bit more like America. From Iraq to torture to tax laws to gay marriage to funding for social programs to foreign policy, the neocons are being routed at every turn. We're in the worst financial crisis in recent memory, and the party that is supposed to stand for fiscal responsibility cannot even mount a sufficient challenge."

I think this is the best summation I've seen so far of the current Republican party. So what do you think?

  • What are your plans for this most joyous day?

Bush is finally leaving office, clearing the way for our nation to be restored to its former glory. What a great day today will be. I'm stuck working so I won't be able to watch it sadly.

  • Why do Republicans always?

Get their "facts" from right wing blogs? I don't think I've ever seen one cite a reliable factual source in my life.

  • Look ahead to the Senate 2010 races?

I was taking a quick glance ahead at the 2010 Senate races, and it looks like at least 3 Pub senators will retire. Arlen Spector will be 80 and has cancer, and even if he did run he would likely lose to a very popular Ed Rendell. Kit Bond and Chuck Grassly may also retire with no decent Pubs to take their place, and with strong Democrat challengers.

Another interesting race will be John McCain vs Janet Napolitano, pitting an unpopular incumbent who just lost badly in the Presidential election against a very popular Governer.

Couple all this with the fact that there are no realistic challenges to any of the Democrat incumbents.

So my question is this, are you ready for the inevitable filibuster-proof Democratic Senate come 2010?
