  • What is the problem with the refrigerator if the bottom freezer is not freezing?

The bottom freezer of a 5yr old kenmore is not freezing and the top refrigerator compartment is not cold. The cooling panel at the inner back of the bottom freezer is not cold or frosted over. The fan in the bottom freezer still works and the digital temperature control panel still responds. The compressor still hums, but ssometimes it makes this sharp blade scraping nose when it stops its humming cycle. What could be the issue with it?

  • Why Adobe Reader crashes and turns to an extra long window popup and both viewers turn white?

Adobe reader crashed, but not normally. The main viewer turned white and a second smaller viewer that's really thin and so long that it has no ending horizontally pops up. They can't be closed by clicking the red x and must be force shut down from the Task Manager. In addition, several (like 6) Adobe rcrdf tasks are running like crazy in the background. I tried downloading a pdf earlier that when Adobe tried to automatically open it, says it is not in the right format and is unopenable. Could it be a virus that steals information?

  • Is there an electric pulsing fleshlight?

Is there a massaging, pulsating, etc... kind of fleshlight or pocket pussy? Like a massaging chair kind of thing but with an insert? Sounds pretty lucrative

  • Why are my watermelon leaves bunched together?

I planted a couple Stars and Moon seedlings back in May, and the big indoor leaves died but it grew a lot more but smaller leaves. One vine is about a foot long with a 3 inch leaf every inch and another one has even more at about the same length and size. The last one is only about 6 inches long, but almost the same number of leaves clustered tightly around the center stem. Is there something wrong with it or is it natural? Also, the honeydews are still small vines, with 1.5" leaves and although they're starting to grow leaves from the joints, the old leaves look pretty bad and beat up. They're closer to 6 inches long, with one about 2 ft, but pretty beat up.

  • Parts needed for an Arduino watering project?

I have a Uno R3 and a collection of relays, shields and parts but I'm not sure if there is task specific shields and things that would make it more efficient.

If I want a greenhouse watering system, do I need a stronger or multiple arduino?

It should sense the soil saturation, and when it falls below a certain level, start a water 12v water pump (200 mA draw) to pump water through driplines for a set amount of time (instead of soil sensor hitting a certain level to make sure plants at end of dripline get sufficient water). If I want it to be wireless, and in a remote location with no power sockets, would a 12v 5 Amp hour battery work as a power supply? I'm a beginner with Arduino so any help would be appreciated, especially with the wireless aspect (bluetooth, "wireless", or wifi?)? Thanks!

  • Attachment image

What type of battery is this?

I couldn't find any imaged that match this directly. The closest I think are the Sub-C or Cr types. Can anyone provide a link to ebay or amazon? Thanks!

They are the power supply of a RC Air Hog stealth plane, each of the 3 cells are about 1.5 to 2 cm high by approximately 1 cm.

  • Can I apply again if I get rejected from my intended major?

Just like when applying for college and overreacting by applying to a ton of schools, should I apply to multiple majors at once instead of one at a time, and if I get rejected once, can I reapply for the major and would it look bad if I got rejected once already.

  • What are potential dangers of growing bamboo?

I'm planting Vivax bamboo, which should be one of the hardiest and largest here in Washington 7B. However, like most large bamboos, they're heavy and tall, so are there an dangers in it falling and damaging anything within a 40 foot radius? Should I isolate them? That would limit the locations considerably. I don't know how resistant bamboo are to wind and falling down. Can I use it as a privacy screen or is it too large?

Are they any dangers of growing bamboo I should be aware of other than its fast spread and that it's hard to remove completely?

    I have several choices,

-- one in a relatively shaded area but clear surrounding,

-- another in medium sun on a 6 foot raised terrace right by the house (seems risky considering its already large size),

-- another by the neighbor fence line,

--another in a former pond, but 10 ft away from the main road(though surrounded by 10 ft high hedge and pines),

Another in a secluded area with medium sun, but fifteen feet from main road and power line and 20 feet from neighbors fence, surrounded by several pines which is sunk down 5 ft with a concrete wall on one side but with a greenhouse on the area directly by it on the are 5ft up.

  • Is baking fresh sweet potatoes same as curing?

So my mom likes to wrap sweet potatoes in tinfoil and bury it under coals or throw it in the oven uncovered in a dish to bake like they do in Taiwan. They turn out soft and sweet and tasty. I'm growing some now, and I heard that if they aren't cured for several weeks at 80-90F, they aren't as sweet. Is that because of the heat? Would baking it immediately result in sweet sweet potatoes?

The curing process seems rather expensive for just a few potatoes, is there any other method that works? I plan to harvest in september or october when frost kills the vine, so it will be too cold then to cure without significant heat input. Should I just harvest earlier?

  • Is nightime temps above 40F good enough to harden off tomatoes/peppers/cucs?

Nighttime temps are well above 40, but below 50 F. Although, there are the occasional days that it dips to ~36 F. Should I begin the hardening off process or leave them inside for another few weeks?

  • Are sunchokes(Jerus. artichokes) tubers edible if it has started sprouting?

I know potatoes aren't edible because of the solanine, but I don't think sunchokes or sweet potatoes have solanine. Are the sunchokes edible even if it has started to sprout shoots? They look sort of like fresh ginger shoots and are slightly pinkish yellow.

  • Should I keep plants in unheated greenhouse with huge temperature swings?

I'm in zone 7B and the greenhouse is shaded until around 9, then still partially shaded until 10 or 11 and then it gets the full brunt of the afternoon sun. It's just starting to warm up here, with nights around 40 F and midday temps around 50 or 60 now. The greenhouse goes to the 40s or high 30's at night like outside, but is always at least a couple of degrees warmer than outside even on cloudy days, around 55 F. Sunny days, it's at least 10 degrees warmer than outside and if its sunny, and the outside temp is mid 60's , it can reach 87F inside, and remain at 80 F even with all doors and vents open. That's almost a 50F temperature gradient!

I'm on spring break, so I could check on them them on weekdays, but I only come back on weekends from college, so I may not be able to ventilate if it gets sunny. I have 2 potted blueberries, a couple of salad greens in a raised bed, some swisschard just seeded in pots, several pots with sown seeds, and two potted grapes in there right now. Should I move them out or is it okay to leave them inside? Will the high heat and cold nights damage plant growth? Blueberries seem to put on more leafs than blueberries outside and grapes inside the greenhouse have already had budbreak while grapes outside haven't even had bud swelling..

  • Transplanting bamboo dug up with barely any roots?

I dug up a group of 4 bamboo culms from my neighbours yard, and 3 have barely any roots since we dug with a pickaxe and forced it.... The bottom has about 2 inch radius of roots for a 15ft culm. Two of them are connected so that may help or not. One of them has about 6 inches of rhizome. They're all about 15ft or so and I planted them in a mix of clay and horse manure in a 2ft wide bucket. Any ways to help ensure it roots and survives? Do I prune them now? It's Spring here in zone 7B with nightime temps around 40F and daytims occasionally reaching mid 60's. I have it supported against the branches of a pine so it's partially shaded.

  • Why beats studio headphone have static?

It's really strange. It only has static in the left ear, where the cable attaches and when I'm facing my laptop. If I turn my head so the left ear is facing the laptop, or my right ear is facing the laptop, the static crackle and pop stops. It also stops if I turn my head 90 degrees so that the left or right ear is facing the ceiling. It only happens with the laptop, even with the cable unplugged from the laptop. This happens regardless of the location, just when I'm using the laptop. It stops when I get at least 3ft away from the laptop. Therefore, I assume it has something to do with wireless interference from my laptop which is strange, because my beats studio aren't wireless. Help! It's so annoying!

  • How do I clean a greenhouse?

So I pressure washed, cleaned and polished, moved a 7 year old greenhouse last summer. It was overgrown with brambles and was pain in the butt to clean. Point is, the humidity seemed to have built up over winter and the entire place is GREEN. The wood fece/panels that are the table/shelves are now completely bright green. The weird thing is, when I was cleaning the greenhouse in the summer, the panels were still brown and not moldy. How do I clean the algae(?)/fungus/mold off without leaving any in? I'm afraid it might cause damping off or infect the seedlings I'm going to leave in there for a week to harden off. Also, the floor is now a weed den, is there a way to kill them organically, cause they're pretty deeprooted cause I dug up that place pretty deep.
