  • Is this baseball card collection worth anything?

My husband's parents cleaned out their basement and sent him his childhood baseball card collection, and I've been given the task of selling them. There are about a thousand cards, maybe more. They're all from late 80s through late 90s and don't seem particularly valuable from what I can tell based off a few Google searches, except for about half a dozen rare/collectible cards he has in separate cases that seem to be worth $2-14 each. I've checked with a couple local card shops (I live in Chicago), and no one seems interested. Do I stand any chance at selling them as a single lot on ebay? Should we just sell the more valuable cards separately? Any advice from someone who knows what they're talking about would be helpful. Thanks!!

  • What does the acronym SYOT mean?

I've been getting into reading and writing fan fiction lately (for The Hunger Games, mostly), and I keep seeing stories labeled as "SYOT", but I can't figure out what it means. Please let me know if you do, thanks!

  • Natural canker sore remedy?

I'm prone to canker sores, and have been since I was very young. Is there any natural way to treat them or prevent them that anyone knows of? Any way to shorten their duration or manage the pain that doesn't involve gunk that numbs half your mouth?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

  • My laptop can't connect to a printer?

I have a laptop that runs off of Windows XP. When I click the 'find printer' button from the print screen, I get an error message saying "The directory service is currently unavailable." This has been happening for several weeks now, same error message every time. How can I fix this so I can connect to a printer? This is my work computer, and it's a pain in the but to not be able to print from it.

  • Smelly cat, smelly cat, what are they feeding you?

My cat has been very stinky the past couple days. I think she tracked in some poop from the yard, but I don't see any on her. She always bathes herself and her fur is clean, but she still stinks. I know from experience that giving a cat a bath is not fun or easy.

I've seen grooming wipes in pet stores. Has anyone used these? Will they take the smell away? Or is there a dry shampoo I could use?

I need help de-stinking her, just so I can get the "Smelly Cat" song from Friends out of my head...

  • Book club suggestions?

I'm creating a book club with a group of 7 or so other women, all in our 20's. We're going to be meeting next week for the first time. What are some great books that we would enjoy reading and discussing? I'm open to any ideas, just please don't say Twilight!

  • I need help thinking of a word?

I'm looking for a word or otherwise great way to say 'ability to think quickly and make decisions under pressure.' Something like improvise, I don't think that's exactly what I'm trying to say, but it's the best I can up with. Anyone know any other ways I could say this? It's for letter of interest for a job, fyi.

  • Ideas for group games for 5-7 year olds?

I'm looking for fun ideas for games that can be played with 15-20 kids. They're going into first and second grade this fall. As a group they're very bright and a bit chatty. Simple rules and easy set up are important. Ideas from teachers would be great. Thanks!

  • Considerations when moving with a cat?

My fiancee and I just bought a condo, and we'll be moving in about a month. We have a 6 year old cat, and this is our first move since we got her. Is there anything special I can do to help her adjust to the move? She's an indoor/outdoor cat, and she's very territorial. I'm worried about her trying to find her way back to the old apartment, which is about 10 miles away. Should I keep her indoors for a little while to prevent this?

Also, is there anything I can do to make her feel comfortable in the new home? I was thinking I would take her favorite paper bag she naps in, as well as her cat tree (even though she really needs a new one), so she has some familiar things in the new place.

Has anyone who's made a move with a cat have any suggestions?

    Thanks!

  • What to do when the teacher is wrong?

I work as a teacher's aide in a private elementary school. It's a very high quality school with great teachers. However, a couple times this year when I've been in the 3rd grade classroom, I've heard the teacher say a few things that I know for a fact to be inaccurate. Don't get me wrong, she's a great teacher and an intelligent person, but she's had her facts confused on a few different occasions. She taught the students that M is the Roman numeral for 100, when I know that M is 1000 and C is 100. Also, I heard her mixing up the terms 'square' and 'square root.' She was teaching 'the square root of 3 is 9,' etc.

My question is, how do I handle this? I don't think it's fair to the children if they are being taught inaccuracies. While I like this teacher quite a bit, she has a very dominant, strong personality, and I don't think she'd enjoy being interrupted in the middle of her lesson to be corrected by a woman half her age. How can I approach her about this?

  • Anyone know the name of this movie?

There was a movie that's come out in the past year or so that I remember hearing a little about, but I forgot the title. It's about the life of artist Andy Worhal's girlfriend, who's name I don't remember either. Anyone have a clue what I'm talking about?

  • Are wooden utensils safe for Teflon pans?

I know that metal utensils are harmful to Teflon coated pans, but I'm convinced that wooden utensils are safe, because wood is so soft. However, my boyfriend was not happy this morning when I used a wooden spoon to make scrambled eggs in his fancy Teflon pans. Anyone have a definitive answer on this one?
