I'm 20 years old, some girl I met in school convinced me to open up a bank account to get 3000 dollars. I didn't know the ends and out of everything but she put a fake check in my name, forged my signature and cashed it. All without my knowledge. Yes I gave her my card number and my bank account number. I told my friend about this and she said that's grand larceny. I didn't know until she told me, it was all illegal. I know soon the cops will be coming after me, how much trouble am I in?

I know that a tort law is civil wrong doing and more personal and a criminal law crimes committed against society but can some cases fall under both? for example, stabbing someone with a knife in public during an argument, if the victim decides to sue for compensation wouldn't that fall under torts too as well a criminal law? Can someone please break this down in a way I would understand

It s a heist movie I think.
