I love a lot of music including industrial, EBM, classical, jazz, geek-rock and country.

  • Could this be part of my neck injury?

Hello, I'm asking to see if someone could pass on suggestions as to what this may be; I don't have a doctor's appointment until the 19th so was wondering if you had any thoughts.

At the end of October I fell and crunched my neck, spent the night in A&E etc and was eventually sent home with a concussion. No medication was given, no follow up was needed.

About a week ago I started experiencing stiffness in my neck, my head has felt too heavy for my neck at times, but overall it has been bearable.

This morning, just before I left for work I had this massive head rush, and my neck and shoulders were tingling and burning. It was like a drug rush. I then stood up to make myself more comfortable on the sofa, where I felt I was going to faint and nearly fell over. I felt quite nauseous, everything sounded like it was underwater and then I heard a loud fizzing noise in my head. It sounded like it was in the room. It slowly faded away and the whole thing lasted for about three minutes.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Could it be related to my neck injury? I've never had this happen before and it hasn't happened since (6 hours ago).

  • Do references influence a housing application?

I am applying for a tenancy and I had ordered some sofas, the sofa company informed me that from before I was employed I had some bad credit. (Failed by a couple of points). But since I've been employed (11 months) nothing has been recorded as bad. My credit check is currently being done and I've yet to get the results. Can I still be accepted if I have good references?

My current landlady has given a really good reference; can this really make a difference and allow me to get the tenancy?

  • Advice - My ear piercing is sinking into my skin? What should I do?

    Hello,

This morning my ear hurt a little, after touching around for my piercings, I realised one wasn't there. Looked in the mirror and the gem has sunk into the skin. My immediate reaction was to attempt to pull it out, but to no avail. Then I read I shouldn't pull or push it out because I can trap an infection! So, now what? I can't force the gem back out as it's healed over it almost entirely. I don't think I should just leave it either. The back of the ear ring is on the outside of my ear, it's just the gem that has sank in.

I remember this happened to my sister a few years ago and she ended up in A & E where they had to cut it out, but I would consider this a last resort.

    Thanks for any advice!

  • Alternative guinea pig bedding - Fleece bedding?

Turns out one of my pigs is allergic to sawdust, we were told about a machine washable fleece bedding, can someone tell me the proper name for this? And any UK shops/websites I can get it from. I've looked into other alternative bedding and this is the bedding I'd like.

    Thank you

  • Non-medical remedies for colds etc?

Where I work; a lot of people are taking medication. Some people have asked about things to take to help with cold symptoms that aren't your bog standard paracetamol, cough medicine, lemsip etc as it can interfere with their medicine. Does anybody know of some natural, herbal, or non-medical things people can use to ease the symptoms of general colds, flus, sore throat, blocked nose etc?

    Thank you!

  • Does it hurt a fish when you suffocate it?

I'm not asking this so I can be cruel.

At work some colleagues decided to get some fish. They did little research and put too many chemicals in the tank, four out of seven died last night and three remain. Two of these keep falling on their backs and twitching. One of them took 24 odd hours to die. Is it less painful to take them out of the water and let them suffocate? Or are there any other ways to let them die peacefully or to save them?

One out of the seven is fine and bopping about. I have no idea what kind of fish they are. They are tropical and extremely tiny.

    Thanks.

  • What should I consider if I take on someone else's child?

My friend has recently been diagnosed with mental health issues and due to the severity of this she may not be able to look after her child for an unknown period of time. I said I would become part carer with my friend and live with her if this was an easier option, but I've been told the likelihood of social services allowing this is extremely slim.

Her child is four in August, he's not the best behaved child but he's not the worst either.

I work full time in mental health and have no children of my own. I earn £11,000 a year and would be unable to live in suitable accommodation without a little help from the council to contribute to the rent. I have heard how expensive childcare is but would be forced to have him in daycare as I work shifts.

If I do not look after my friend's child, and she is deemed unsuitable to look after him; he will be adopted, and will possibly be in care for years.

I believe I would easily be a competent parent but I don't think I would be able to afford to do it, and I think that there are a lot of sacrifices there. I've never wanted children, and I can see myself spending all my time either working or looking after him. I know I am leaning more toward saying no, but I don't want him to be separated from his mother.

I would like some peoples' thorough, realistic opinions and I would appreciate it if you can tell me any other factors I should consider.

If I decide to take him on, I could be looking after him for just six months if his mum gets better, but I could also be looking after him until he is eighteen. I may also have to keep taking him back if my friend's mental health deteriorates.

I know it's long, so I appreciate you reading it.

  • Do you have a right to work your contracted hours if your employer takes them away?

This is for my friend. She works for Screwfix in the UK. She was contracted to 37 hours per week and now her employer has made a new contract saying she can only work 17 hours per week. I know this is silly of her, she signed it but was told it still said 37 hours. This isn't enough for my friend to get by. Does she have a right to her original contracted hours? If so, how does she go about getting them to give her back her 37 hours per week? Can she say she misunderstood the contract so it can be void?

    Thank you in advance.

  • What is your favourite breed of cat and why?

My partner got me a book on cats, and they have friendliness ratings, playfulness ratings, coat maintenance ratings, activeness ratings and size ratings. The point of this bit was to look for a cat that's right for you.

So what's your favourite breed(s) of cat and why? Are there any types of cat you particularly dislike?

  • Not getting paid extra to work Christmas?

I work in social care as a support worker. We're open 24/7 and staff don't get bank holidays off. If there's any specific information you might need to answer this question please let me know.

I'm working a 14 and a half hour shift on Christmas day (7 of those hours are overtime which I get paid £0.002 more per hour) and boxing day (the whole shift is overtime), but I've been informed I will be paid my standard £6-odd per hour. Are people entitled to extra pay for working Christmas day or is it a company's choice?

    Thank you!

  • Anxiety related muscle spasms. What is this and how can it be treated?

I'm a support worker, I work with people with mental health issues, but I'm not a doctor. There's a lady I'm working with who has severe anxiety, and a few months ago she started to get constant muscle spasms all over her body. She has been given all these relaxation therapies but no medication. She said the relaxation only helps for a very temporary period of time. No one's really given her a lot of information as she doesn't know if this will eventually stop the spasms or if this is only a temporary solution. This lady often describes her pain as a burning feeling. She can't sit up for very long, she has to lay down a lot as she is in pain. She follows all of her relaxation and exercise correctly but the pain comes back very quickly. She barely sleeps and is constantly frustrated and upset because of this.

If anyone can tell me what this could possibly be, and what treatments are available that would be great.

    Thanks

  • Why is my computer so slow?

I moved house at the end of last month and ever since my computer has been extremely slow. Not the internet, the actual computer. It takes about 8 minutes to get a browser up and often won't let me do anything for a minute or so when I've clicked to open something. What could have caused this? I've de-fragged, spyware scanned, virus scanned and deleted old programs I no longer use. The only thing I've installed since I've moved is Belkin Wireless Network Utility to get me online.

Also, my computer is constantly asking me to do updates, which I've been doing.

I use Windows XP, my computer is pretty old but it's been fine until I moved. I have a Dell Optiplex GX 260. Here is a photo: http://www.acepcworld.co.uk/acepcworld/images/dell...

    Thanks for any help!

  • Causes of scabs on a cat's back?

My cat has lumpy skin/scabs near her tail. She doesn't have any near the front of her body. She doesn't have fleas and they don't seem to bother her that much but I've put some Germolene on the scabs. Is it worrying enough to take her to the vet?

  • How do you get over a fear of using public toilets?

I know it sounds a bit odd to be asking, but I start a new job next Monday, and I'll be doing 12 hour shifts in a residential setting. I don't like having tummy aches, so I was wondering if someone could share their ideas or experiences on getting over fears. I can go to the loo to wee no problem, but I have a problem with going for a poop if it's not at a friend's or mine. Can I set my mind to think about something else or to think I'm in my own toilet?

    Thanks!

  • Does this mean my guinea pigs are happy?

I don't have a run for my guinea pigs, so I leave their cage open so they can run around the living room freely, they've recently learned how to get in and out of their cage without my help, so they pop out when they please. When they're all out and playing, they get very excited and seem to do "binkys" (like what rabbits do when they jump and twist in the air), I've heard with rabbits it means that they are very happy, does it mean my guinea pigs are happy?

  • Is it okay to feed my guinea pigs cauliflower leaves?

I've been looking online and it says they shouldn't eat cauliflower, but what about cauliflower leaves? I've fed them it lots before and they're fine, they absolutely love it! They don't get diarrhea or ill, if I can't feed them the leaves, can someone explain why?

  • Will the fly spray poison me?

I've just sprayed some fly spray as we have a problem with little insects getting into our house. It says how you can't spray it near food or touch food until you've washed your hands, and that you must thoroughly wash your hands after use. I sprayed it forgetting a bottle of wine was left open, with no cap on, it went pretty much directly over the wine. I'm not one to waste booze, but should I throw it away in case it poisons me?

  • My guinea pigs are agitated after going to the vet?

Today I took my three guinea pigs to the vet because they were coughing and sneezing. The vet injected them with antibiotics and I have been given medication for them. They were fine at the vet and only squeaked a little whilst being injected which is understandable.

When I got home and popped them back in their cage they started fighting with each other. Ammy; the youngest seemed to start it but then the others started fighting, too. They were fine in the carrier together. They're also making more noise than usual, just chuntering away. I made them drink water as soon as they got back because it had been a while since they had any.

They've never really fought before, I've only seen them play fighting; but it seems a lot more rough this time. Will this behaviour continue or will they stop it once they've settled down? Are they a bit upset from going to the vet? They were in the carrier for about an hour and a half as I had to walk to the vet and get them some food on the way home, could they just be annoyed about being in the carrier for so long?

Any extra info that may be useful:

    All three are boys

They are 7 months, 6 months and 5 months of age

They have lived together since the youngest was born

Any help is appreciated, thank you!

  • Help with Pokémon Platinum and my Eevee?

I have an Eevee on Pokémon Platinum, it's happiness got up high enough for it to evolve it into either an Espeon or an Umbreon. (Evolve in daytime to get an Espeon, evolve at nighttime to get an Umbreon). When Eevee first got to this happiness level and leveled up, it began to evolve into an Espeon. I stopped the evolution and waited for it to get dark. At 7pm I leveled my Eevee up again and it evolved into an Espeon still. So I turned off the game without saving. Will my Eevee not be able to evolve into an Umbreon now or am I trying to evolve it too early in the day?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Please no comments on how you think Pokémon sucks. I enjoy Pokémon. I'm asking people who know about Pokémon. Thank you!

  • Should I feed my cat wet food this soon?

My cat is 4 years old. She had diarrhea for about 3 days, then was sick after eating grass the next day, the day after (today) she is much chirpier and looking better. The thing is she is crying for wet food. I was told whilst she's ill not to feed her any wet food. She has biscuits down but has not eaten them, although this morning she had two bites of marmite on toast and a little bit of my quorn meat.

I think she is only eating these because they are considered treats, the last poo of hers was not normal, should I wait til I see a healthier poo? And should I only give her a small amount, a normal amount of wet food or none at all?

Any help is appreciated, thank you!
