  • Does Cheney's recent actions disturb anyone else here?

Five years ago, Vice President Cheney claimed executive privilege when he refused to disclose details of his meetings with oil industry executives. Now he's claiming he's not part of the executive branch after all because he doesn't want to disclose classified document details to the government's own Information Security Oversight Office.

Cheney seems increasingly like either he's got something to hide or he thinks he's above the law.

    Does this bother anyone? Thoughts?

  • Bush a megalomaniac with a Messiah complex?

What do you think of this theory:

George Bush is trying to - country by country - turn the whole region of the Middle East into a democracy with Western ideals. He sees this as his legacy. He started with Afghanistan, then moved onto Iraq, now he's working on Iran. He wants to be historically considered as a messianic saviour that totally changed the politico-construct of the world.

Do you think he is this sort of megalomaniac? Opinions?

  • Does Bush really support the troops?

How can people think that Bush supports the troops when:

    - they were lied to about the reasons for the war

    - they were inadequately supplied with body armour, Humvees and other necessities

    - there are no official ceremonies in recognition of soldiers killed in battle

    - injured soldiers are being made to pay for their own treatment and recovery

    - Bush wanted to cut the pay to soldiers in Iraq, taking away their immiment danger pay and family separation allowance

Anyone still think that the Bush administration really supports the troops?

  • Why did Bush give up on Bin Laden and invade Iraq?

We all know that it was Bin Laden that was behind the attack on 9-11. Why do you think Bush, instead of giving everything militarily, diplomatically etc into finding Bin Laden and stamping out al qaida in Afghanistan, decided to give up on it and turn on Iraq? Was it oil? war-mongering? some ego trip he was on? something else?

Please give me your most well thought-out and intelligent answer.

  • Tough decisions vs. Right decisions?

I don't understand why Conservatives think Bush is a great president because he makes "tough" decisions and sticks with them. What if those decisions are wrong?

I mean, would you seriously rather have someone in the White House who is so inflexible that they can't listen to anybody else and change their decisions when they are not working? Is that actually somebody to emulate and admire?
