  • Is this a good diet/exercise regimen to lose weight?

It's summertime and I would like to lose 30 pounds by the end of August. I eat a very healthy diet low in carbs and high in protein (50% protein, 30% carbs, 20% fat). I eat approximately 1,200 calories per day. I would like to add an exercise regimen to speed up my weight loss. I used to eat a diet like this all the time and I lost about 50 pounds doing so, but then I slacked off and gained about 15 pounds back. So, I'm starting up this healthy eating style again along with exercise. I would like to jog 2 miles in the morning, and in the afternoon do either strength training or vigorous cardio (I purchased P90X a while ago, so I think I'm going to give that a try).

Does this sound like a good plan to lose 30 pounds by the end of summer?

  • Sports cars from the 90's?

I'm getting ready to purchase my first car but I'm not sure what model/make to be looking for (I'm looking at classified ads on the internet mostly). I would like it to be a sporty-looking, two-door, manual car with decent gas mileage. I'm still in high school so it needs to be an older model, probably '89-'97 or something in that range...I really like mustangs but my friend already has one so I don't want to be a copy cat! It would also be a plus if it was a convertible. Can anyone give me some suggestions on makes and models of cars that fit this description, as I don't know very much about cars in general. Thanks :)

  • How to lose weight after reaching a plateau?

I've lost 55 lbs in the last year and I've been able to keep it off. However, I want to lose 50 more pounds before I'm satisfied with my weight loss (I was very overweight before). I eat a very healthy diet, about 1,200 calories per day. Here is what I eat on a daily basis...

    Breakfast:

    3/4 c. egg whites

8 oz fat free yogurt OR an apple

    1 c. skim milk

    Lunch:

    Raw vegetables

    Apple

    Snack:

    Apple

    8 oz yogurt

    Dinner:

3 oz grilled chicken (boneless, skinless)

    1 c. non-starchy veggies

    1 slice whole wheat bread

I eat like this mostly every day, there is some variation in meals but not enough to make a significant calorie difference.

I've stopped losing weight completely and I still follow a very healthy diet. What is the cause of this? I don't really exercise much, but is that what I need to do in order to lose more weight?

    Thanks.

  • Taking too many dietary supplements?

I eat a healthy diet low in saturated fats and carbohydrates and very high in protein. I take a majority of dietary supplements to ensure that I'm getting all the vitamins and minerals that I need, but I wonder if taking all these supplements could actually be harmful to my health..

Also, I take all the supplements (suggested serving size) in the morning before breakfast.

Here are the supplements I take...

    Glucomannan (for weight management)

    Chromium

    Vitamin C

    Calcium with Vitamin D3

    Vitamin B-100 Complex

    Omega 3 Fish Oil

    Vitamin E

    Multivitamin

  • Is it okay to eat 4g of saturated fat in one item?

A protein bar with approximately 250 calories, 4g saturated fat (2g unsaturated fats), 30g protein, and 5g net carbs.

Is this too much saturated fat, even if I don't eat any other saturated fat for the day?

    Thanks.

  • Am I eating too much sugar?

I eat a very healthy diet, but about 90% of my daily carbs come from sugars (sugar alcohol, and sugars from milk, yogurt and fruits, NOT refined sugars). I am trying to lose weight and gain muscle. I eat a lot of protein, but pretty much no bread or pasta. Do sugars from fruit and milk get stored as fat like refined sugars? I've recently lost 50 lbs but now my body has plateaued so I am trying to adjust my diet and exercise plans. I follow an approx. 1,200 calorie diet daily...about how many g of sugars should I be eating per day?

    Any help?

  • Are These Protein Bars any good?

I've recently lost 50 pounds (and have been successful in keeping it off). However, my weight loss has plateaued so I need to change up my diet and exercise a little bit. I'm looking to start a very high-protein, medium carb (cutting out most refined sugars) diet. I'll probably start eating about 6 egg whites for breakfast, along with 8 oz of skim milk and some kind of fruit (most likely an apple). Since I'm in school, it's really hard to eat a healthy lunch. I've tried packing my lunch before, but it's just too much of a hassle. So, I would like to try eating a protein bar and some fruit for lunch every day, so I will need to bring the protein bar with me.

Here is the bar I'm looking at...http://www.muscletech.com/products/nitrotech_hardc...

30g protein, less than 5g of sugar, but like 30g of carbohydrates (what are these from?)

For dinner I eat lean meats (turkey, chicken) and cooked vegetables. Snacks usually consist of raw vegetables, low-sugar yogurt, or fruit.

Are there any harmful effects of eating too much protein?...Can it cause you to gain weight if you eat too much of it? I'm looking to lose weight right now, and build a little lean muscle but I'm not trying to bodybuild or anything.

    Any help?

  • Is it harmful to your body to eat 1,000 calories a day?

According to the Food Guide Pyramid, I'm supposed to be getting 2,200 calories per day. However, I rarely exceed 1,000 calories per day. This is mainly because everything I eat is super healthy. I make sure to eat every food group and whatnot, but it's very hard for me to feel good about myself if I eat more than 1,200 calories in a single day (I lost 50 pounds and I want to keep losing). The 50 lbs lost has been off for a while and I have not lost any weight in a few months....I eat pretty much the same things every day, as follows:

    Breakfast:

    6 tbsp. egg whites

    1/2 oatmeal w/ 1/3 c. skim milk

    Lunch:

    Nutrigrain bar

    Sliced cucumber

    Fat free yogurt (Yoplait)

    Snack:

    Large apple

    Dinner:

3 oz. grilled chicken breast (boneless, skinless)

    1 c. steamed veggies

1 piece of whole wheat bread

Is it unhealthy to be eating like this? How can I improve my eating habits while still trying to lose weight? Also, is the reason I'm not losing any more weight because my body has become so used to eating like this?

  • Can you use a pencil eyeliner with fake eyelashes?

I want to wear false eyelashes to my homecoming dance tomorrow night but I'm wondering if I can use a black crayon eyeliner pencil instead of liquid liner? I was looking at some tutorials of how to apply false eyelashes and they all used liquid liner on their top lids. I want to do a smokey eye and have the bottom lined too, but I don't want to buy a liquid liner and a crayon liner (I use brown eyeliner reguarly so I have to buy black for the dance). Plus, I don't want to line under my eyes with liquid liner. Will using a pencil eyeliner mess up the lashes? Also, can anyone recommend a good drug-store brand of black pencil eyeliner? Thanks!

  • Chinchilla has skin infection?

We have a year old female Chinchilla, and we've had her since last March. When she came to us, she had an inflamed vaginal area and ever since it has been that way. It heals sometimes but then gets worse again. We saw the vet about it and he gave us some waterless shampoo to spray on it. We tried the waterless shampoo but never really kept up with it. We would like to see the infection clear up as it is causing her some discomfort. What else can we do to heal the infection? We believe it was caused by moisture getting into the fur and not being able to dry.

    Thanks for any help.

  • Larger round brush for longer hair? Yes or no?

Right now I am using about a 2" round brush when blowdrying my hair. I paid about $25 for the brush and it isn't doing what I want it to. It takes me too long to dry my hair with this, and it doesn't give me the volume or shape that I want. I want big volume and lustrous waves. I think the problem may be that my round brush is too small for the job. I have normal textured hair but very long, about midway down my back. If I get one of those humongous round brushes to blow dry my hair with, will this give me the style that I want? I mean the ones that are the size of a newborn baby.

    Thanks for any advice.

  • Where can I find a Muay Thai trainer?

I want to get into Muay Thai or Boxing but I can't find a trainer/intructor/whatever anywhere. I don't want classes, I want a one-on-one session a couple times per week training for actual bouts- someone who lives & breathes the sport to train me. Where can I find someone like this? I live in central Pennsylvania.

    Thanks.

  • Would Boxing be a good sport for me?

I'm 16 year old girl and I have a strong interest in fighting. I'm 5'10" 218 lbs with upper and lower body strength (mostly upper though). I want to take up a sport and I think that Boxing would be a good choice for me since I like to fight. I have the mind set to be a good fighter. The only thing I'm worried about is my physical ability. I'm sure with a good coach and plenty of training I could easily get in shape for this type of sport, but as of now I'm not in good shape at all. Since I'm a girl, though, I'm worried about A) being able to find a good trainer and B) people taking me seriously. I know that this sport is male-dominated but are females in this industry discriminated against? I'm not looking to go pro or anything..just some amateur fights. Is this a good sport for me to uptake?

Thanks for any help or recommendations.

  • What do you think about PCD performing at the Kids' Choice Awards?

Last night on the Kids' Choice Awards with host Dwayne Johnson, The Pussycat Dolls performed as one of the musical performances. I thought that was really inapprpriate. PCD is a sex symbol and they are definitely not good role models for kids! Why in the world would they ask them to perform to a bunch of kids under 10 years old? I don't understand it and I think it's ridiculous.

    What are your thoughts?

  • What kind of wood can I use to build my chinchilla cage?

Looking to build a bigger, better cage for my two Chinchillas. Going to possibly use wire mesh for the sides or shelving units. Attaching them with wood and also building wooden shelves. The wood will be exposed and chewable, so I need something that is safe for my Chins to chew. Any ideas for types of woods that are safe, where I can get them, and how much they cost.

    Thanks.

  • Should I go for it or forget about it?

Okay so I'm in high school and I happen to have a major crush on one of the teachers at my school. This teacher just happens to be pretty dang attractive, late 20's or early 30's. I'm obviously really in to him but I know a relationship would never happen between us...or would it? Whenever I see this teacher in the hallways, he just stares at me and smiles. It seems like he is always around me... He's made several obvious attempts to talk to me out of the blue. How can I tell if he is in to me? Obviously he would never flirt with me in school...but should I try to flirt with him? Would it be too risky?

  • Why is my dog so afraid of my pet rats?

I have a 3 year old Chihuahua mix named Daisy who is absolutely terrified of my 2 pet rats. She cowers in fear from them underneath my bed when they are left out to play. She runs away whenever they get within 5 feet from her. She sits literally on my head shivering in fear when they are out and about. She yelps whenever they get really close to her. The rats can obviously see that she is afraid so they make all the more effort to bother her. I know that the rats have never bitten her. Why is she so afraid of them and how can I ease her fear of them? They aren't scared of her and it would just be too cute if they were friends :)

    Thanks for any ideas!
